I find that saying something that's funny to make them laugh helps.

Good points. It has even happened to me to approach some people because they seemed so sad (going through a hard moment). Wanting to help at least by making them smile, I approached them just caring for them, talking with them, encouraging them... And went the context fitted, taking pictures of them. All of them always ended up smiling a bit... And they are among my best encounters.

Hey, just a tip: using manual focus for videos where you are sitting and not moving much will prevent the focus to change all the time during filming :) But great video!
