Balaclava 2024 pt 8
Here is the Big finish. This long video is the entire 2nd side of the project. There is a mistake when I missed a needle on the first transfer row. So much sadness, but I do not let it get me down. We just continue - I can fix it when I weave in my yarn tails.

มุมมอง 51วันที่ผ่านมา
In this video we split the face ribbing in half so that it's easier to seam. I do not like to hang my project on the machine and knit the ribbing directly onto it. Instead, I knit the ribbing and then I put my project onto it for the final row of knitting and then bind off. For me, it's just easier. In this video we are using 44L to 44R. We are casting on using waste yarn first. We are then kni...

มุมมอง 67วันที่ผ่านมา
This is the video where we seam the first side of the crown. We hang the live stitches over 19L to 19R and then ease the 54 rows of the crown over the same needles. We knit across at tension 10, then we do exaggerated larger loops for a gate peg bind off row.

In this shorter video we learn about how to re-memorize a row. I had to try 2 times. But I got it on the second try. No accidents while knitting, only forgot to record on one camera and then the other, my bad. This was really easy though we are knitting on 19L and 19R, 54 rows, mark center, then remove on waste yarn. Easy peasy. To re-memorize a row on the brother knitting machines - lock your ...

In this video we start with the reduction on the Left side - 10 stitches. We then do a few more reduction on each side then we knit the rest of the side of the hat. We mark 19L and 19R and remove the project on waste yarn. I had a few technical issues and had to edit out a few sections of nonsense. The Next video will show How to reset the patterning so we can knit the "crown" flap for the hat.

And here we go. This 20 minute video gets the Neck ribbing knit (50 rows) and the first 18 rows of the hat itself knit. We are working with mystery yarn as usual. IF you can match the tension readings - 16cm/40st and 17cm/60rows you will have a perfect fit. The tension swatch was tension 9, but we changed it up to be a Fairisle project so the tension was increased to Tension 10. You do not have...

In this short video we finish the sayg mitten. You can see that the yarn is not appropriate for mittens, but that's ok with me. It's Pretty. Can I do better - Yes of course I can. Will I try this again, I don't think so, there is so much more we can do.

SAYG mitten pt 3 - reductions and thumbs
มุมมอง 3721 วันที่ผ่านมา
We finish the palm of the mitten and get ready for the Next video. For the reductions we start at row 56 by reducing both ends 1 stitch every 2 rows. For the Thumb we are hanging 11 stitches on both beds then adding 1 stitch on each bed and knitting circular for 56 rows. Transferring every 2nd stitch, then knitting 4 rows at tension 2. We remove the thumb on the yarn tai

2x1 industrial ribbing - 40L - 40R tension 3. 29 rows, then 1 row normal knitting. Then we remove the entire piece on waste yarn. That being said... you don't have to remove the entire piece. you could just remove half on waste yarn, and then start knitting the First half of the mitten.

In this video we knit from row 25 to 81. We are casting off for the thumb when we have 28 rows left to knit. My custom pattern had 2 solid lines marking the thumb for 11 stitches. You can 100% do this on a common punch card that you want to use for eternity to make your mittens going forward. We will then knit the Ribbing again 1x1 and then we make a bind off that looks similar to the circular ...

What pattern number are you using?
Sorry, I forgot to reply. I will get you the number I used.
Lovely Stocking. What yarn size are you using?
Well... this is 2 years ago. I know the tension was 6. The yarn should have been a 2. I was using Loops and threads "wool like" from Michaels craft store for a lot of my projects back then. But... I will go check. I love that stocking and have it not far away.
Yes, the White yarn and red yarn are both Loops and Threads wool like - and it is a "1" which is "super fine" yarn. The thicker yarn used for the weaving was a Medium yarn.
Do you use the motor on the 260? Can it be used with a ribber?
Absolutely. That is the only reason I have it. One does have to be careful and align it perfectly. and go slow. I do not use it in my videos because it would not be fair to folks who do not have one.
Great. What kind of help are you needing?
I am having to relearn the passap after not using it for more then 3 months. Lots to remember. ArtofClay is a really good mentor and we are looking forward to knitting a few projects together soon.
@@CJMactaggartknits Great that will be awesome for both of you. Are you in the USA or Canada?
@@galaxythree4653 I am in canada, Art of clay is in Europe.
Very cute. Please do this on the Passap machine also. Am I missing your Passap videos or have you not made as many? ❤
I am planning on making a few more videos on the passap - with the help from ArtofClay. I am sure I can figure out a way to do this hat on the passap, mittens too.

thank you!! :)
Hello Can I ask what was the size of your needle?
Which needle? do you mean the machine itself - it's spacing is 4.5mm.
My needle stock on my lace carriage I found a way to fix it. Now every time it knit it drop stitches
@@EnjuAhmed you should order some new ones. You can buy them on Ali Express you just need to make sure you order the right ones for your machine.
I would be gently advise you to rename this great video adding Brother & knitting machine words to it. I occasionally found it and I really want it will be visible to other people.
I will see if I can edit it in some way. Thank you for your suggestion.
I made some changes - let me know if they work.
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, and special thank you for the feature you've given in the end of the video.
Love your videos warts all. Any way of adapting this to a bulky machine?
Absolutely. I just need you to do a tension swatch and then share your tensions with me. Then I will post a Quick video on the Bulky for you. Please tell me your yarns name and I will put it in the video too.
❤ beautiful
What is the pattern #?
Its stitchworld # 20
Hai Cindy the bed is out of focus 😮
I noticed that when I was editing. It's one of the many things I do not know until I edit.
Thanks for this video, I'm making my first ever flat bed socks with seam and it was really useful to see how you did each stage
AWESOME to hear !!! I am working on Mittens inspired by flat bed socks for Octobers knit a long.
Will any punch card work with any of the settings, such as tuck, slip, fair aisle etc?
no. not all. There is a chart in the manual which states which punch card work for which of the settings on the carriage. And if you bought a secondary set, they also have a index normally which tells you what they do. For example Weaving punch cards do not work for slip or tuck. And you would not use Lace punch cards for Fair isle etc.
@@CJMactaggartknits Thank you so much for this information. Sadly the charts you speak of did not come with my machine, in fact I don’t think the few punch cards I got are even the cards for my 360K. I’ve been doing trial and error and I have managed to do a Fair Aisle swatch (with much difficulty). I have had a lot of problems with this machine as some of the parts were missing and the white bar under the carriage was cracked and it would not knit. The person I bought it from did send me another piece of carriage that she had listed for parts only and I was able to use some of the parts from it to fix the carriage. I have had to replace bent needles, clean, and oil the machine. This is my first punch card/knit radar machine so I’m not really sure what I am doing. I do have the LK150 and even a Bond ISM, so I’m somewhat familiar with how these machines should work. I do enjoy your videos and learn from them. Thank you!
Use a garter bar to move the stitches, so much faster.
absolutely. But not everybody has one.
I would have removed the left side on waste yarn then drop it off (just the side with waste yarn) and hang those sts on the ribber. You can also incorporate a "jaws" tool to do the transfers to the ribber then move the main bed stitches over. :)
YES ! You are correct, BUT one has to remember it's backwards on the ribber So you would remove it on waste yarn - reverse it, hang it on the ribber, Then start section 2. One can also do the Sew as you knit when knitting the 2nd section to avoid having to seam it.
Where do I get a pattern for a plain sweater
I have used needles of steel, and machine knitting etc. But I have also used Design a knit. Tell me more about what you are looking for in a pattern. Do you want V neck or crew? Pockets or no? cardigan or just a Really simple sweater?
@CJMactaggartknits I am only starting out I got 230 knitting machine from my sister and need some patterns that I can follow 😊
@@maryvanbree4482 Well then. A another great resource with LOTS of easy to follow patterns are on the "blog spot" for the Ultimate sweater machine. The USM has a similar tension to the KH 230, uses similar yarns, and the patterns are easy to follow. I will post the link for you. Because you are just learning to like your machine - for the USM patterns just used Tension 4 on the KH 230 to start. As you get used to your machine then go up or down on the tension dial. Also... make sure you change the sponge bar on your knitting machine.

@CJMactaggartknits thanks so much I was to a point of giving up till I saw your videos thanks again
Thanks!
Nice work, but….. I doe have a question 😊. You have 2 right sides on the triangel. Only one has the scallops? Will you knit scallops on the other side ? How will this look on a person? 😅
The scallops are only on the base. I just finished the full sized scarf. It's pretty cool. I will post the photos on the facebook and then make it the thumb nails for the videos. I am going to see if I can get it on a maniquin for more photos today.
Lovely thank you ❤
Thanks CJ. Excellent video.
The full size project is coming up this week.
Thanks!
Adorei, top 💯
You could also put more nails in one direction to give the wool a bias where to go. At least thats what I've seen on professional made ones.
Hi can you please tell me what yarn ply you are using xx
This one was 2 ply, craft store yarn. it's now discontinued. The only thing "like it" is 1 ply from Yeoman.
Hello I have a question for you. If I have the collar knitted at tension 7 do I need the weds? 😮😅
I think you will have enough stretch to be just fine
I did mine at T3 - which was way to tight.
Thank you so much.
Cindy, thank you very much, a so good explaining of the yoke connection to the front ❤❤❤🎉
You are a great teacher. Deep breath, that is exactly what I need to concentrate on.
Good morning, have a ton of questions, would you please tell us the needle size in mm diameter? What is the yarn like it look like a wool is it a winter garment? Why do you cut the second yarn, sooo much to weave in. You switch from KC. 1 to KC 2 why, it’s not a single pattern.
End needle selection. When the only yarn is colour 1 - if you still have end needle selected, and you have removed colour 2, then you have a high chance of forgetting to push back the end needles before you knit back. I constantly forget to push back those end needles and my machine drops the end needles. That is why I was going kc1 and kc2. I am using Tension 7, and I think it's a bramwell 4 ply (it has no markings/label), however... This is yet another project for a member of my patreon group. So...as part of the deal with patreon members, they send me their tension swatch readings with their requested pattern, in the size they want to knit, and I make videos of me making the project, using all of their information. At the end of the event we compare our projects and we talk about it. She is using a cool yarn "softy" from Alma. Yarn Cutting - If I did not cut the yarn, then I would have long yarn floats, this just keeps those neat. It's easier to cut yarn 1 then to fish it in and out of the carriage door - yes I know you can do it, but I wanted to do it easy with out wiggling my carriage a lot and upsetting the pattern. And I will not have to much to weave in, I leave them long just so I can find them when I go to sew. All that being said - when we get into knitting the actual sweater I work smarter not harder and there is way less yarn tail creation. Oh...and... At 2 spots in the pattern I believe I have 3 rows of a solid colour, so just leaving the yarn in the yarn holder would be silly because it restarts on the opposite side of the bed. As for the machine choice...I wanted to ensure the KH940 that I was asked to sell is in perfect working order, so this is it's test run before I put it on the market to sell.
18:26
Oh yes... All I needed to do was turn off MC on the carriage and knit across. One of my mentor patreon members actually pointed it out to me. It took a little while for my brain to work it out and trust the science, in the next set of videos you will see a lot of mental growth and learning of new skills.
Can you do this without a ribber?
Of course you can. You can use your latch tool and reverse the stitches. Luckily it's not 30 rows, so easy peasy.
❤
Lovely sweater. Thank you ❤❤
Leuk detail, Nice look, I wil try that one, thank you good evening
❤
My edge pins are not working properly..it still drop stitches at sometimes even 3stitches😑
It is the edge pins or is your lace carriage sinker plate your issue. You need to ensure you clear the work and have enough space for the yarn shuttle to move to the opposite side of the bed.
@@CJMactaggartknits please I don’t understand what u mean by enough space…I have moved the edge pins 1 needle from the initial beginning of my work..then from my right side I moved the edges 2 needles away from my work…so far..it has not drop any stitches yet
@@lottopredictions3966 I mean you did not move your carriage far enough away from the edge of your fabric for the sinker plate's shuttle to move across.
@@CJMactaggartknits ohh is that also necessary 😳😳😳
I will try it out immediately thank you ma’am 🥰🥰
Do you know where I can get blank mylar design cards for the Singer/Studio/Silver Reed machines?
Every now and then they come up on Spartan Machine knitting. Otherwise... you might want to look into Design a knit and just avoid the mylars all together. I think Ebay (Sunny Choi) has also had a few mylars come in in the past.
@@CJMactaggartknits Thanks for the advice. Not quite set up to migrate to new DAK and peripherals. I have an older version (DAK 7) and I’m getting new studio space ready sometime late this year; I’ll reevaluate DAK 9 and a box then. In other news…In my uncluttering this past weekend I found 6 blank red Silver Reed mylars! I also experimented with the blank blue Brother mylars (I have a TON of those) and I figured out how to get the pattern and the buzzer and the movement instructions to read correctly from a Brother mylar into EC-1 and PE-1. The main thing is I want PE-1 to save and run the patterning so I’m not relying on the machine to physically manipulate the mylar each row.
@@JimiLux That is amazing. Those mylars are gold. Folks sell their PE-1's on ebay and etsy a lot. you can also contact Spartan Machine knitting - Troy sometimes gets singer parts in.
Good evening, is it not a lot of barrlewights?
it might be. but I never know what the yarn needs until I start going.
