The reason as to why David always sends an entourage when requesting for something is because he secretly fears/hates (direct) rejection. A character flaw we have all experienced (or still do!). You'll notice that every time David has a romantic interest in a lady, he always sends an entourage, in case he gets rejected (which he rarely does). It's a safety cushion. In another case, when Nabal rejects David's request of good will in chapter 25 of Samuel, a confrontation arises and Abigail intervenes or has to intervene because David is absolutely vexed at Nabal's rejection and almost over-reacts. David, God's loyal servant is human, just like us. NB: Because of his hate for rejection, David almost misses God's mission for him at the time which was to redeem Abigail (a beautiful and intelligent woman) from a toxic life rather than to destroy Nabal's entire household (including Abigail, his future wife). I loved this. I’ve been carrying heavy burdens with my family. Alongside working a lot and school. I burned out. Recently what I felt after reading a devotional was “I don’t need you strong, I need you surrendered.” That gave me strength not my own to keep going. Because I for sure don’t have it some days. ‘Be still and know I am God’ This message reminded me of that. Thank you.

I think sometimes God symbolically strikes us on our hip just to slow us down. Those days when you feel utterly exhausted and are running on 5% battery; you become frustrated because you think that you won't meet those deadlines, or you'll get left behind. For me, that's when God is telling you to slow down and be still, there is something He is trying to tell you. There's something he is trying to show you. ☺💯

I am sorry to hear about your Mama, Pete. My siblings were in the same place almost 4 years ago. We simply sat and held her hand. She was there when I breathed my first; I was honored to be there when she breathed her last.

❤ wonderful spiritual revisit to the past with 'I AM' in the present. Perspectives may differ the End resultant should remain the same. Moses was given a command from God, yet broken by Hezekiah in faith to his belief and calling (the medical students) and was declared as Faithful to Lord... Brilliant! So encouraging when one experiences finding family! Thank you so very much! Although technically a retired Presbyterian minister, I cannot accept the label of retired when one has been living a vocation. I spend my days in prayer and the nights, also. Seeking to find a center or a gentle framework for what my life is now in Christ. I served a church as an interim pastor during the pandemic for over two years and it was really a glorious experience but health did not allow me to continue for the third year. I'm so grateful for lectio 365 and the 24/7 prayer movement. Eager to learn more about The Order of the Mustard Seed! Experiencing Community across the miles is so heartening! The Holy Spirit is so sweet!
