    You need to learn to setup the hitch yourself and quit trusting the dealer. The goal is to get the vehicle close to level. Measure the gap between tire and fender lip on the front and back with the Tow Vehicle unhitched then hitch and adjust the chains so the measurements have the same difference with a little more rear squat since most vehicles are raked forward unloaded. Shoot for a leveled stance.

    As an alternative to the electric jack, you can back your trucks rear wheels up on your trailer's leveling blocks. The other method is to use a small hydraulic bootle jack, place it under each bar, and jack it up to put the chain on. Takes less time then using the trailer's tongue jack and is safer. Thats what I do.

    No wonder why he got hurt. First, that hitch system with the chains is awful. Second, with the right weight distribution system, there is absolutely no need to almost raise your truck wheels off the ground. That is crazy! Way too much stress on that tongue jack, hitch and trailer frame. I have been towing a 26 ft TT with a 3/4 ton truck and Equalizer for 20 years. Never had that much trouble hooking and unhooking even on unleveled surfaces. Just don't. Please!

     There’s a difference between raising the truck a couple inches, max, and freaking LIFTING THE TRUCK IN THE AIR using the jack. Please understand how a WDH hitch works, period. Doesn’t matter the brand; the logic and concept is the same. If you need that much tension on the blue ox bars, you’re waaaaaay overloaded. I have a Tundra just like yours, so I get it. That much tension is going to bend/damage your trailer’s frame. Google it if you don’t want to agree with me. I hate to say it, but I’m not at all surprised that you got seriously injured doing things the wrong way. And you’re still doing them the wrong way. 🤯😱😣

    • @DigitalBarbell
      @DigitalBarbell 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching! The tension on the bar has to do with the link used, not how high the truck goes, but I get your point. We upgraded to an F250 shortly after. Check out my follow up video linked in the description if you have time.

      @DigitalBarbell from an engineering standpoint an automobile has certified lift points..... A trailer hitch receiver ball isn't one of them..... Infact it's the furthest thing from one. 2nd a trailer tongue latche is not a lifting device.... Infact it's the complete opposite of a lifting device lol You're telling people to make the truck and trailer unlevel bringing the rear tires which are the only thing attached to the parking pawl off the ground. This list goes on. If you can't see everything wrong with what is happening here and telling people online to do some pretty dangerous stuff then yes it's an insult.

Hold the wrench firmly as the rotating latch bracket will rotate downward causing a quick jerk on the wrench. Rotate slowly and firmly. "

    We just upgraded from a 17 foot to a 26 foot and kept the blue ox. But I did have to replace the springs because the new trailer is 2000 pounds heavier than the old trailer. First time I disconnected it from the new trailer. I caught myself in the bottom of the chin and got road rash from the rubber handle I had on the wrench. This is a good video but the dealer set it on the 10th Link. I think I’ll stick with ninth link for the first trip. I can just put a little extra weight in the back of the trailer. I only go 40 miles to my campsite onto two lane roads.

    Looking at the bow in the torsion bars, he has too small of a truck for the trailer, or he has bars that aren't rated for the weight he is putting into them. The problem with tow ratings on the modern half ton pick ups is they are testing for their ratings using flat bed trailers, not enclosed trailers. Towinf 10k on a skateboard is far different than a 10k travel trailer. The effects wind has on the travel trailer or enclosed trailer, mainly cross winds is so much more than a flat bed trailer.

    I use air lift bags on my truck suspension and only raise my truck about 3" to put tension on the bars and chains. My truck is level with my trailer, and it pulls fine. My truck is smaller it's a Chevy Colorado pulling a 4400lb trailer, I also added a radiator for the transmission with a PPE Heavy-Duty Automatic Transmission Pan. Your way would scare me to death... =)

      That’s not a bad idea! No one has mentioned that!

    Pulled several 7.5K trailers plus a Airstream 27FBQ with a Tundra for over 10yrs. No issues but truck cargo capacity was always maxed out.

      You can tow what you can tow, but you can only STOP so much. Our tundra was over payload with just the tongue weight of our 27’.

    If you’re reading this and watched this video but may be on the fence about signing up with DB, reach out to them and start a conversation. I have had numerous coaches and followed lots of training programs over the years. I am super happy with the workouts DB writes for their clients. All you have to do is put your trust in them, show up for yourself and watch the results come in. They have it figured out.
