in dhcp settings you literally have a setting that enables you to set time for which ip the device was given on the network is reserved by it, there is also a setting which enables you to reserve ip address for a mac address of the device

I would get a normal consumer not understanding how dynamic IPs work, but you're supposed to know your stuff. I would feel really dumb to have sent a product for review by an expert, only for that "expert" to not know how to do a single Google search.

You’re the apple customer of network configuration… You need to assign static IP addresses for devices that need them, that’s the way it’s always worked and it’s dirt simple to setup. If you’re setting up smart home devices and you don’t know the basics of what your doing then you should take the time to learn instead of staying ignorant and expecting your devices to do everything for you.

So, what goes on the inside when you want to lock up the door and how do you open up the door from the inside? When you enter the code, does the door pop open or do you have to use the handle? And do you have to use the WiFi or can you just use the keypad with a code?
