What a great surprise! The entire band was absolutely stellar on this Russian, ageless classic. This made my day...I must not forget to acknowledge the artist who shot the video for the band. If I'm in Austin again, please introduce me to photographer.
Thanks Ron! Something I learned recently (and use to justify our continued playing of it) is that the words were written by Yevhen Hrebinka who was actually Ukrainian, and the melody is borrowed from "Valse Hommage" written by Florian Hermann who was German-Polish! Of course the song is beloved in Russia still, but there's some historical subversion there. This incredible Photographer/Director goes by the name of Kelly Daniela Norris, perhaps you're related? ;)
