There are two things in which the whole nature of a rational soul is assigned: cognition and will, that is, wisdom and love. Therefore, the whole substance of the rational soul is ruled by these two: cognition and will, so that it may find truth through wisdom and embrace virtue through love. Initially composed by John Tavener

Stunning. I'd really love to use this track in my no-profit shortfilm. What can I do?

I never thought of slowing Funeral canticle. A marvelous idea. If there was a song that could benefit from slower progression resulting in a more spacious feeling, this would be it. This pretty much is THE sound of life itself.

You have, somehow, made a haunting and beautiful composition even more haunting and beautiful. Somehow.

The nuns taught us there are two ways through life, the way of Nature and the way of Grace. You have to choose which one you'll follow. Grace doesn't try to please itself. Accepts being slighted, forgotten, disliked. Accepts insults and injuries. Nature only wants to please itself. Get others to please it too. Likes to lord it over them. To have its own way. It finds reasons to be unhappy when all the world is shining around it. And love is smiling through all things. Terrence Malick, The Tree of Life

stumbled across this looking for a video of Funeral Canticle to rip and sample for a personal project, and i'm blown away. did you recreate this yourself? i'm very familiar with a more typical version of this piece, so when those voices came in, i was enraptured with the subtleties, with the small but big differences, and with the heavenly space your version occupies. thoroughly love this, great job

''It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live'' - Marcus Aurelius. After all, what is death but making space for life? What is life if not but a particle of the self-creating, self-ordained, rational Universe?

The whole world is, as it were, the most beautiful song, which flows along with the best harmonies, with some parts following others until things are perfectly ordained toward their end. Thus, the order of things in the whole world shows wisdom, and the order of things to their end shows goodness, but in the relationship of one thing to another the greatest wisdom and the greatest goodness are shown.
