This channel is dedicated to the science and art of human movement. Join me as I explore a range of topics, including skill development, fitness concepts, and competitive strategy, to help you move with confidence and competence across a wide range of physical activities. Additionally, I’ll address how movement impacts areas beyond the physical-enhancing wellness, cognitive performance, and various aspects of life.
Each month, I release 1-2 full-length podcast episodes featuring in-depth interviews with academic experts or experienced practitioners. Between these episodes, I’ll share short practical posts and clips, where I highlight key insights and takeaways from the main episodes.

Practical Applications: Strategy for Combat
✅ Strategy is the plan you create to achieve a goal.
✅ Strategy can be divided into two key categories: physical tactics and mindset-what to focus on and think about to perform at your best. This episode centers on setting up a plan for your mind.
✅ Mushin is the practice of being in the present moment, free from distractions and expectations. High-stakes performances often come with heavy expectations, but the goal is to approach them with a spirit of play. By doing so, it can help you to stay out of your head and in the present moment.
✅ When we are in a spirit of play this allows us to remain relaxed, flexible, and adaptable, enabling us to see the bigger picture and make the best decisions based on the environment.
✅ To achieve this, hard practice is essential. This is why they say many battles are won before they even begin.
✅ While tunnel vision and training rigid scenarios are important for preparation, they are tools for the training phase. In training, the goal is to equip your body to react instinctively and effectively when the time comes.
✅ Meditation is an excellent tool for training focus and attention. One of my favorites is Andrew Huberman’s space-time bridging meditation-it’s highly effective.
✅ Fudoshin represents an unshakable heart and immovable mind. It is your inner spirit, drive, and determination to keep going, no matter how many obstacles you face. It’s about maintaining optimism-sometimes even unrealistic optimism-and believing there’s always a chance for the odds to turn in your favor.
✅ Ice baths are a great way to train mental resilience. When you confront something you’d rather avoid, like enduring cold water, you strengthen your willpower by pushing through and doing it anyway.
✅ Your mind is just as trainable as your body. Like physical adaptations, mental growth happens even if you can’t see it.
✅ Shin Gi Tai-the integration of mind, body, and spirit-is essential for peak performance. To perform at your best, you must develop all three areas in harmony.
✅ Performing at the highest level requires a holistic approach. You can’t view the body or techniques in isolation. Instead, you need to focus on nurturing the complete nature of an athlete to achieve optimal performance.
