Testing the voltage touching the leads with your fingers? I wouldn't do that. The LED lamp is not isolated and you can get high voltage from any point to earth, through your body.
good work but i have a question, how can i get rid of all the cables and stuff around? thanks
EXCELENTE IDEIA !!! É sempre bastante problemático medir diodos zener, varistores, etc. Com essa ideia fica bem fácil usar em qualquer multímetro !!! PARABÉNS PELA IDEIA !!! 😃😃😃
Through AI, an Indian guy has become a professor and gained an Anglo-Saxon voice. For the intelligent wise, still an Indian.
Use a 5v cellphone charger to power up the buck converter ang adjust the output to 1.5v and connet it to the wall clock your wall clock will function simple idea
Will work but what a waste. lol :)
your videos is very very important and can understand..good luck!!!
Thanks Sisirakumarsinha for the comment and your support.
Helps teach electronic theory.
Interesting... but you are mad as a box of frogs. ;)
Nicely breakup and briefly good.
It seems like you are out of contents. Useless project.
Well that was certainly an interesting way to make an electric wall clock, great back of the napkin diagram.
Even fast-forwarding through the nonsense, that's *still* about 5min of my life I'll never get back. Dropping in 1 battery every year or two, vs keeping a 6W bulb powered 24/7/365... and covering up the LEDs yet if the light's too distracting?? Oh brudduh...
Wait what's the point of not using the broken LED light isn't this to recycle old bulbs that you're not using.
Thank you for sharing your at least you have taught me about varistors you are a good teAcher❤🎉
Ridiculous.
You can't see the forest for the trees?
A lot safer mod use an usb charger and drop the voltage or use old lion battery and a usb charger.
A lethal mod no one should try. Exposed live terminations on the back of the clock just a man trap. Take this down.
better use accu's from discarded vaps!
Pointless exercise
Break a WORKING LED bulb to power a wall clock which would run on AA batteries for years risking to burn down the house and using more energy (6W for the whole ensemble for a clock that needs 4.5mW)? Yea, pointless.
This gentlemen never heard of the ENERGY CONSERVATION LOW.
The reason behind the battery is to get rid of the cables. What if there is no plug available? After the blackout you will need a battery operated clock to adjust the modified one.
dont say that lol' he worked hard on this useless project
Smart. Tho, around here, the batteries are more reliable. I know, pretty sad, huh?
All this so you dont have to change a battery once a year ? and you have to run it from a socket pointless
Super🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
what is the use of that garbage. Were you born that dumb ?
Cool
You wasting to much time mate in the video
you a lost, but you already know it. Holy Shit,Gen Z come up with old Stuff.

I’ve soldered a wire with just a lemon. Just try a raw lemon.
Nice tutorial! You're a good teacher.
Thanks , very clear and helpful Hands ❤
Sorry but your hands being in half the frame is very annoying.
I am VERY disappointed! I thought you would show us how to join/solder 2 wires together, and then use bottle caps as an alternative to heat-shrink tubing to insulate the joint.
Wow! This is complicated even for me. I'm a 75year old CET. If yo don't know the secondary voltage or current, here is a simplier way to find out. 1) find out if the transformer is step-up or step-down. This is accomplished by measuring the voltage at the secondary. If you have 120v at the primary and 12v at the secondary, then the transformer is a 10:1 step-down. 2) get a large value potentiometer, somewhere around 10k. Put the pot in series with the primary. One side goes to the line in and the slider (center terminal) goes to the transformer. 3) put AC voltmeter across the same pot wires and plug it in. Adjust the pot until you have 1/2 the line voltage, then unplug from source and measure resistance across the pot. Use Ohms law to calculate the current through the pot using the 1/2 votage drop and the resistance measured. 4) multiply the calculated current times the turns ratio found in step #1. In our example it was 10. This gives you the current rating at the secondary. Why is this true? Because in any transformer, the power is the same on the primary and secondary. Therefore, if the voltage decreases, then the current increases proportionately. Have a blessed day!
Truly pathetic.
焦耳小偷 輸入只適合碳鋅電池 不適合鹼性電池 因為電流會燒毀電晶體 要使用兩種電池時建議電晶體基極多加個330歐姆電阻 可併聯102電容
Why not use a 50mA constant current generator?
Plays like Crowbar over voltage protection the only difference is this video are for AC and Crowbar For DC.
The problem of using super caps is that these caps like regular ones have linear voltage drop and you can only use the voltage above the LED forward voltage and you also only get maximum light at the very first seconds and it will gradually drop until you get no more light so the useful light is maybe 25% of the actual charge plus they won´t light as long as batteris by far. but I made a super cap Dynamo light myself and you only have to wind it for a few seconds to get a minute of light out of it so it is a nice thing to have in case the apocalypse happens
Very good explanation of the function. Many Thanks!
K It's said varistor not veristor(vari stor) get your English right
8:28 is very interesting when you see the blue coating puff up as it heats when it triggers & blows the fuse. I'd never seen that before. Hence showing the susceptibility to "burning up" failure mode. You can see why cruise lines really don't like surge suppressed mulit-way leads as given their highly surged supply the chances of blowing the MOV up with the repeated triggering must be pretty high.
Tradu an romana.
Thank you for this good explanation 👋
OK, How do you read the varistor? By read I am referring to the code printed on the part itself.
I had to decipher your code to understand WTF the mystery 5th digit was 7D24?K. I noticed that you use a normal straight line for the number one sometimes and then switch to a weird shaped J at other times. Like this,"10% and J5%, 24J=24x10". Otherwise, everything was very clear. Thanks.
very nice video tks 😀
Hello, thanks for the excellent video. This was very helpful for me. By the way, when the fuse was blown, I also noticed that the varistor inflated and then deflated. Is that normal? Please explain what happened here. Thanks!
Awesome.
Varistor daheißt "Überspannungschutz"
