Part three of DIY Copper Metal Clay: The Firing
In this video, I'll be torch firing my DIY copper metal clay. Torch firing home made metal clay is very rarely done by DIYers due to the very specific conditions copper needs to sinter. However, I don't have a kiln, so torch firing it is! Double firing does improve sintering conditions with the flux, so give it a go if you want!

In this video, I'll be making a paintable slip with the DIY copper metal clay made in the first video. I will then paint a physalis leaf with MANY layers of the slip, which requires great patience and other things or chores to do while I wait for the layers to dry. Pick up knitting, maybe?

In this video I'll be making a simple 3 ingredient copper clay. There are lots of different recipes out there, and this is the simplest one around. for best results, use the finest copper powder you can get. Curving those tines

This is a supplementary video to my previous video on making wool combs. You can curve the nails (tines) fairly evenly (more or less) without the application of heat, especially if you only have a butane torch (like me) which won't get the metal hot enough.
Just using all those DIY tools I made...

I have a lot of crappy, bad quality fleece and just two dog brushes.. so I made a set of combs instead. Also, apologies for the shoddy editing! I haven't made a video in over a decade!

Wow, great video. How much thick can we make it? Can we sculpt an inch thick sculpture and then fire it?
Don't see why not. You'd just have to fire a lot longer at a sintering temperature, unless you're doing a hollow farm.
