Paul Schaefer's "Adirondack - The Land Nobody Knows"
It took Schaefer eight years to make this film. He started it a year after completing "Of Rivers and Men" and premiered it at the Egg on February 9, 1980. To shoot it, he engaged two accomplished cinematographers, Walter Haas and Edwin Niedhammer. Noel Riedinger-Johnson wrote the script and edited the five miles of film they shot. The film won a Cine Eagle Award and was chosen to represent the United States in international film competitions.

I live downstate in the Catskills, but have spent many, many days in the north country and Adirondacks. Beautiful country.

I’ve hiked hundreds of miles there. Solo northville to lake placid multiple times. I don’t live there but it’s where I feel home.
