Welcome to my painting channel:). I am a professional artist and fine art instructor. Here is where you learn to paint a wide variety of subjects in oil, watercolor and gouache! I'll share helpful techniques and information about color, design and composition that I've developed myself over many years of painting. I’m an avid watercolor sketcher, and I will show you how to take your paints with you wherever you go. Paint A Backlit Swan With Watercolor
In this video, I’ll explain and demonstrate how to paint the swan and make it look like it’s glowing!
I’ll be using a Rembrant 24 color watercolor set with the addition of some cobalt violet. I’ll be painting on Rembrant cotton watercolor, using a Silverbrush, Black Velvet round # 10.

“Laguna Spring”, I just completed this extra large oil painting of springtime in Laguna beach. This is the view looking south over Diver’s Cove at Heisler Park. I love the statice and other coastal wild flowers along the seaside cliffs! This painting has a very uplifting feeling about it, that peaceful sense of being when you can see forever while gazing out across the ocean.

@@KristenOlsonStone sometimes I find it easier than watercolor (as you can reactivate it -- normally), others harder (because you don't always have transparency). Recently I bought a Holbein Acrylic Gouache and that's some new experience as it dries a lot faster and it's harder to combine colors, but the colors are really vibrant.
@@brunodepaulak I use Royal Talens gouache, have you tried that brand? I hear some people like Holbein but I didn’t know that it dries faster than other brands
@@KristenOlsonStone not yet, I just switched to Holbein, so will wait for the tubes to start to empty before buying new paintings. Before I was using W&N and Pébéo, but Royal Talens and Daniel Smith are two brands I still want to try! The holbein acrylic seems to dry a lot faster than their normal gouache (they sell both). It's also more opaque (there are some interesting videos comparing both).
