Had to try a go at one of my top 5 film theme tunes. The brilliant Escape From New York by John Carpenter. Hope I did it justice. Neighbours in tears. I'm playing a Gaita Galega in Bb made in granadillo wood (Galician Bagpipes) by Seivane.

Great, great video. I had one of these in the early 2000's and sold it, 😩 as I'm writing this comment I'm rampaging through eBay looking for a replacement. I really miss those days of hands on editing and manipulation. I never had a Waldorf Q but they look great as well.
Thanks so much for this informative vid. Great analogy based descriptions of the basics of wavetable synthesis. As an owner of two 2.2 and three MW-1 (one a Mean Green Machine) and the XT, it has always been a challenge to accurately describe what's happening to people who are interested. Your images, albums and the flip book analogy is quite good - I'll remember that in the future. Usually, I just play some patches and show what can be done without any filtering and that helps to get the point across - especially when replicating a patch on all three going from the earlier Wave's aliasing/imaging and clicking transitions to the MW-1's attempt with the smoothing parameter option, then to the XT where the ideal smoothness and clarity is ultimately achieved (something Herr Palm would've loved to have achieved in his Waves). Importing the same wavetable into all machines really helps to understand the differences between models the advances during the development of newer Waldorf products. If one has the time, patience and knowledge of these synths and of harmonics, amazing results can be achieved - there's a reason for their legendary status.
The ring mod is so useful for adding texture and movement. PD is quite good at evolving pads - need to get another some day. Gorgeous sounds BTW
The MicrowaveXT is a beast, one of a kind sound. The modifiers (with boolean operators etc!) in particular do interesting things that non-Waldorf synths cannnot do.
Hej Miguel, very interesting outcome :) So you use RADIO DIN socket for sending signals on to the tape and use the MONITOR Socket for sending recorded signals to a AMP, DAW etc? I thought recoding needs to be done on the MIC sockets? my UHER is just on the way and iam trying to understand the connection possibilities. thanks a lot Michaell
Hi Michael, haven’t used it in a long time but the signal used to be pretty clean. Hope you have fun with your Uher. They make things far more interesting than just using a DAW.
Nice :) I love Waldorf and Christmas carol
The best synthesised version of this on TH-cam.
Merry XWave!! 🧡🎄🎁✨️🎶
Wll this is a lovely musical gift for the ears! Wooooo
Waldorf was to synths ,what omnisphere is to softsynths ....
Excellent timbers. Are you also using Waldorf as vocoder for ns2??
very strong basinski vibes, regardless that both involve tapes
Waldorf: the only synth company that to this day produces Synths that can create sounds that nobody has ever heard before.
Hahaha I was just hunting ur page to see if u had done any new xt vids and here we are. More please. My all time fave XT vid is urs, the one with the beautiful train traveling vid, the sounds r beautiful and weird
Sickkkkkk!
does it have zones or a single split?
really loving all your XT videos. i've owned 4 or 5 VA synths, but none of their sound has spoken to me like this machine does. i might finally have to part with my Ion to fund this purchase.
Beautiful 🐬🐬🐬🐬⛵️
Oh that legendary sound of ‘out of tune bagpipes’ 😀
Is there any other kind of bagpipes? :)

The cute gecko exits stage left in search of a Waldorf Wave...and a tasty bug.
This is fantastic!
these are presets ?
Hi Miguel! Nice video. I own the same tape recorder and I have an issue, perhaps you could help. When I record a loop, and when I play it back, sometimes after a while it detunes by about a quarter tone. I've run a few tests: when I replay it right after recording, it’s almost at the correct speed. However, if I turn off the machine and come back to it later, it's out of tune by about a half tone. Do you have any idea what might be causing this issue? I already changed the drive wheel and belts but I still have the issue.. Thank you for your advice
That’s really strange. My first port of cold would be the drive belt as well - might be the motor then. I imagine it detunes down (not up)
@@migueldoliveiracomposer thank you, I asked the Uher service in germany, they have sapre parts and a lots of experience. Motor could be the issue effectively because belts are new...
The randomized gnarly stuff is mad tempting but also worrying cos I have a korg prophecy and a waldorf pulse which have tantalizing fairly unfathomable depths I would worry I was in the same position!
Tselina in terms of "unplowed lands" also refers to a Khrushchev-era campaign that attempted to cultivate otherwise inhospitable corners of the Soviet Union. In the case of Blade Runner, Tselina fits in as a company/group trying to wring life out of the failing global ecocystems.
😍😍😍
I'm a 10 voices owner and i need to dig it more. Do you know if there is an extensive walkthrough that covers every part of the synth ?
Have not come across one.
Absolutely loving these videos Miguel. I have just managed to acquire an XT in bright orange (non-nextel) and within 5 minutes I had decided it was never going to leave my desktop. Now on the hunt for a Q! Please keep up with the videos, really inspiring.
Thank you. Have fun with the xT.
Just landed a 30 voice. It's like meeting an old friend.
Now you get back to work! 😂 I took me years to like the XT. I was trying to replicate sounds from my favorite bands when i was a teen instead of creating my own sounds. The patches are so unique, and it's such an elaborate machine. There are some features that I still don't understand 😂 Beautiful demo, as always 👏👏👏 I think you meant to write: kaf.. cafit...cofeti..cafetière! Thank you
I get that too. Part of the magic. The xT keeps some secrets to himself.
One of my fav synths. One of the things I like most is the strange way an odd parameter changes everything: keytrack. Any tip my friend?
I think just messing with unusual controls, like modulation amount or wave start, goes a long way in this synth.
@@migueldoliveiracomposer I have never tried it, got a video to listen to it? i am now with my loved tx 802, can sound more or less similar in some cases.
For Casio Tgis synth is a boss
Great video, thank you. Modern wavetable synth sounds remind me of so many modern soundtracks/foley, perhaps starting with The Matrix.
Very nice. That's a lot of work but the result is impressive. It sounds beautiful.
Thank you ❤
3:40-3:60 ❤
I still have an original microwave 1 version A and since a few years also an iridium. The new microwave plugin is a great editor for the first microwave. Btw the early Ensoniq synths ( esq1, I still have it) didn’t use wave tables, only later models used the transwaves , as Ensoniq called them
Came to the site looking for the hauntingly beautiful Joe exotic theme and stayed for the pure talent and production of everything else. Hope business is good for you, keep the clips coming - love your work. .
Thank you. Very kind
Funny enough, thanks to this piano edition, the dating show in my home country norway has this track remastered as end intro :P
I couldn't recognize a preset on the XT. Beautiful sounds and song. Greetings to Hugh & Hannah (almost palindrome)
Great series! Im doing a paper on methods of musical notation and this amount of knowledge compressed into a series is really impressive! Thank you!
I have to come back and listen to this every once in a while. ❤
Beautiful! Did you program these patches yourself?
Appreciate your fantastic XT showcases. You're doing some great patching as well. FINALLY, I have one of these coming to its new home. I recall late 90's when psychedelic trance was at a peak and I found myself at private party where the hosts were DJings. it was one of the DJ's house we were staying in. The next morning we were all Finished but relaxed with some good juices and this guy comes out to the livingroom with the Most Incredible piece of synth I have ever laid eyes on. The whole thing was fin' ORANGE and it just looked like a beautiful spaceship instrument panel. Mine and my friends' eyes were WIDE with curiosity. Then he plugged it into the little PA and ....My God it was full of Stars. Finally... now I am nearing 50 and finally I have the rack on the way. How long I have lusted after a classic Waldorf. The Blofeld I have had and LOVED for years, along with Largo software and Palm's various softwares have just kept my appetite so damn strong. I absolutely love WT and FM synthesis. I even had to get the Hydrasynth,, which I also LOVE. I cannot wait. I am dripping with anxiety to get my hands on this next week hopefully ;) A DREAM coming true. Thanks again. Will definitely be looking for a Q to go with it. They belong together. I feel it in my bones. Keep up the excellent documenting and design. Peace
oops, sorry for reposting the story. i see i already relayed that story on an earlier vid lmao. anyway, yes, i am finally getting my hands on one! ...which i had not anticipated on my early telling of this boring story ;)
What an entertaining, insightful and overall entertaining video! Very well done!
Anybody know how to get the first sound ?
amzing video man
Thanks for taking us with you on this trip. The music shooed away some heavy thoughts too and I'm really grateful for that!
