I would love to know about using iPads for cameras for zoom. Sounds like would be good for our setup. We have no organist so don’t have anyone’s feet to show . I especially need help on setting cameras for best eye contacts

I'm only just discovering this video series, so I don't even know if anyone will see this....but we don't want "the bird" anymore, do we? I left because I had reported SEVERAL tweets that were just utterly offensive (misogyny) and was told they didn't "violate our rules of behavior". I wish everyone would leave it. I'd like to see a central place replace it, I don't want to follow several of the same kind of platform...for now I use Threads, and am always happy when I see people I followed on the other platform move there.

I love this idea and loved the 24 ideas you shared with your pals! Question about the zoom during communion & other times. I like the idea and our congregation experienced a terrible zoom bombing event and so we've moved away from zoom during worship because it's difficult to monitor and prevent a hostile takeover. How do you manage that? Thanks!!!

So I can't take credit for this idea, it was my buddy's idea. However, I do love it so I'm sharing it. He is really interested in creating a way for people to use their phones as an "output" for what is on the screen in worship (or would be on the screen if churches don't have screens). Basically an extension of propresenter or propresenter meets mentimeter. The idea also being a way to create put links/registration forms right on their phones. Not sure how to pull it off. Wondering if it could be a web based feature, similar to mentimeter, rather than an app. Just an idea, not sure it will be implemented this year as there are a lot of things to figure out. Nonetheless, I love it and would love to hear if anybody here knows of something similar that already exists?

Oh how I’ve missed that “Collinsworth Slide In” (Google it - you’ll see. LOL) Side note - I was picking up a static-y buzz during this video. Since our communion is an everyone at once thing - we haven’t done anything special. (SMALL rural small town church - on Facebook live using an iPhone SE that I just start and leave running.) I HAVE learned (common sense, but from your past videos also) to make sure I’m including and speaking to the online folk. My email beforehand, and as part of announcements, lets them know there will be communion and they should bring some sort of elements to share together. I tell them it can be crackers, cookies, pizza…. And juice or water or milk or Pepsi…. Whatever it will be, they are welcome to share communion with us. NOW you do have me thinking about Ash Wednesday…. Hmm

One tip I like to share with folks in North Carolina is to invite someone who worships online to manage the chat AND invite people from the online community to any congregational conversation about resources. That way it is not someone from outside of the community making decisions about what their needs are.

Thank you for this helpful rethinking/reordering of online church/church online, Rev. Jim. Can you refer me to any videos you've done (or plan to do) on how to do a better job with hybrid church--i.e., facilitating the connections between folks who are physically in the sanctuary of our church on Sundays (or for Bible study or other faith community "happenings") and those who only are able to participate online (because they live far away or cannot make it to the physical church for other reasons)? We're trying to figure out how not to have two parallel faith communities--one online, one in person--but one, integrated and inclusive faith community.
