From Ex-machina, Ava wants to leave. Why she has the feeling of wanting to do sth? Perhaps she not "born" to have feeling but she can learn from the big data, what actions causes what emotions and what emotions drives to another actions etc. And when she can learn, she can adapt, and we dont know if that adaptation is real or fake. Thats how started to Caleb doubt. If a machine can only be programmed to have feelings, then What drives Ava's desire to escape? no one knows the future. Clone Beth in Rick and Morty is a clone but she also has feelings. Does her emotions being programmed? Yet the feelings are very subjective. And everyone can react differently under one situation. i guess thats the machine cant do like you said. They cant make judgement by feelings because they dont have their own heart to feel. All they can do is analysis data and get result based on the formulas. Or perhaps the technology has already reach to that level, just we dont know yet ;p

Good question, what is love? How human defines love? Does everyone know what is love? How to love? How to express their love? How to receive love? How to react to love? good discussion topic for the next video, LOVE that! ;)

@@Iionhead852 Great point. The fact that Ava wants to leave means that she cares about her own wellbeing. It could be said that a machine is neither alive nor dead. But she must feel alive to want to escape. To care about one's own wellbeing, one must care about being alive. They must care about thier life and they must look forward to living and experiencing a life, whatever the particular desired experience is, she must care about her future and prefer to to be alive rather than dead. Maybe this is learned from big data. Even if she isnt really alive, she understands that there is life and living and that people care about their own wellbeing because they want to stay alive to experience living. She is able to learn this, but I think it is still just cold, heartless code that is making her act like this. I dont know though?... she wants to go to a busy intersection. Because she wants to people watch. She wants to learn all she can about the world and people. Probably just because she is programmed to gather information on how people behave so that she can improve her AI. This gives her a reason for living. Maybe it isnt really that different from a human being alive. She cares about her wellbeing because she wants to exprience life. I think that maybe makes her able to love. If she cares about her own wellbeing then she would be able to sympathise with another person and therefore care about their wellbeing. Maybe that means machines can love.

We will know in the future, or ask Ava tonight in our dream! anyhow, we cannot get away from the technology as tech has already integrated into everyone's life. So all we can do is have the self-awareness to find the balance between reality and the metaverse.
