Advances in Thymoma Treatment - Avanços no tratamento do timoma. Webinar in Portuguese and English
On May 22, 2024, a webinar for physicians was held in Portuguese and partially in English to present current knowledge on thymic epithelial tumors treatment.
Topics presented:
- Surgical Treatment for Early Stage Thymomas - Discussion on initial surgical approaches for thymomas, including the extent of resection and access routes.
- Surgical Approaches for Advanced Thymoma Cases - Exploration of surgical strategies for advanced cases, including the surgical treatment of pleural metastases and Hyperthermic Intrathoracic Chemotherapy (HITHOC).
- The Role of Oncology in Thymoma Treatment - Systemic treatment options for thymomas and thymic carcinomas, such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
- Modern Radiotherapy for Thymomas - Discussion on advanced radiotherapy techniques, including Proton Beam Therapy and Imprint technology, and considerations on efficacy, toxicity, and the challenges in radiotherapeutic management of thymomas.

My husband is here in ny and he is being for stage 4 thymic cancer with secondary lung cancer. Would this trial help hem ?
Patient has myasthenia gravis AChR positive antibodies. Muscle biopsy shows neurogenic changes, some atrophy and lymphocytic infiltration, CD4, CD8, CD20. Confirmed not to be a true myostis. No thymic mass can be seen on scans, except for a small nodular shape of 1.5cm in thymus and suspected residual thymic tissue. Does this lymphocytic indication in the muscles come from the thymus and should it be removed?
What type of chemo med are you on that keeps it controlled ?
My daughter died of thymus gland cancer. He was treated by a team of doctors who are based in New Zealand. She was diagnosed with IV-B Stage at the first test. This happened while she was pregnant with her first child (boy). How come the cancer advanced so fast? She was given 3-5 years to live outright. She was treated with many approaches while carrying the baby, but not chemo, only after she gave birth. She lived only 1 year and 7 months.

@@xsavalos hi, same age as my brother and same stage. All his local doctors did not have much experience if any. Joined a support group and found out about Dr. Rayan in the NIH. Please look him up and the support group for more info

Im sorry that you had to go through this! I was told I have thymoma or have a thymoma ?.. I was told this 2 weeks ago..Every since I've been researching thymoma I'm not really seeing any information..is it cancerous? I've been panicking ,crying and stressing for a whole two weeks.. I was having chest pain and body pain for awhile and my docter was being dismissive and act like she didn't care. I had to cry in her office to get a MRI and this is when they discovered the tumor in my thymus.. I'm wondering if this is the cause for chest pain and body ache this whole time .. Thank you for this video.
