@@BleachBoy1999 speaking as a Singaporean Chinese, most Singaporean Chinese nowadays are a disgrace to the Chinese because they only speak English and some of their English isn't even that good. Malaysian Chinese are much better at retaining their Chinese culture. You guys know Malay, Cantonese, mandarin, hokkien and English which is impressive.
@@lamzengyung you seem like the kind of person who tries to act gangster in secondary school then ends up applying screen protector for people who worked hard throughout their life and became affluent.
Not gonna lie though, during my course of education (I am 14) between Primary 1 all the way to Sec 2 (Where i am currently at), I have been educated on racial marginalisation, income marginalisation, cultural, criminal, language, occupation etc. But I have no recollection of any lessons on education marginalisation.. It is a major issue in Singapore, and its like an elephant in the room, known but not discussed. Whats more, education marginalisation is the root of many prejudices us Singaporeans have. How many of us have had sentiments that degrade malays and indians? I think those kind of sentiments root from education. Just like how indians and malays are stereotyped because of education, this movie displays a smaller population of educationally marginalised chinese. Honestly, i agree with LKY's accentuation on education, but I think that Singapore prides itself in racial equality so much that it often disregards equality in terms of level of education. And this form of marginalisation will later branch out to other forms of prejudices like the ones i have stated above.. Racial equality may be the meta due to the existence of large racial inequality overseas, but whats here right now is education inequality. Educational aristocracy is so prominent in SG. Improving facilities in schools and stuff may improve their quality of education, but the SG government has yet to do something about a students social wellbeing.
