Omg Scanlan is based off Eminem, Scanlans daughter is named Kaylie, Ems is Hailey. It was right in front of everyone the whole time!
Grog asking Craven Edge “what’s in it for you?” is actually a moment of remarkable clarity for Mr. “Intelligence of 6”
12:37 personal timestamp
man i miss that energy
I just love: “I can use it on Kevdak!” “It can use you on Kevdak.”
I have a cursed dragon tooth dagger that’s basically craven edge, he’s an evil dragon that needs blood to return to his true form…I called him Jeffrey 😊
Matt and Sam pulls out real good rp through the end.
stupid chat and marisha
56:00 one of my favorite speeches from the whole campaign.
47:21 No very specifically DO NOT eat it (it being anything including but not limited to Grog) Sword
I was never certain if Craven Edge liked Grog or Sylus more Sylus did have less issues about who and when but being a vampire lord he also had to feed from the same source as Craven Edge which Craven likely wouldn't like so much at least in the show
Grog embracing the power of the dark side.
23:09, I love Sam's face going from "Okay, this is kinda serious," to "Matt. You. Didn't. Just. Go there!"
Sadly the moment that Travis learns the whole stat card for craven edge isn't in it.
Cad's warning to Lucien was cold as ice. "They might hesitate against you. I won't."
I know about this bit, but Jesus Christ when I get to seeing Cad say this I am gonna flip out-because I have seen Cad only get anything close to angry TWICE. When dealing with Avantika's 'undead' assistant, and when in one of his communes with the Wildmother he was basically told there's a chance the Grove is beyond saving. "Well I don't accept that." Im on 84 right now.
Here's to potentially craven edge 2.0
This is where that "Name a more iconic due," conversation ends
I am still dying over the facial journey everyone had as they realized Matt intentionally set scanlan up to romance his own daughter
So because Silas was a vampire and they can only die in very specific ways in DND, is that the sword’s perfect master? It means he can’t fail to death with it but it also means he can keep going without a rest.
Chad-uceus Clay
I love Marisha facial expressions while listening to Sam at 16:49 😂
gtfoh with that crittard crap
This feels so different.
Yeah, them doing a retcon in the show which Grog breaks the blade, is more epic that sending the blade to be someone else's problem
Shit man just Scanlan accidentally repeating history and doing to his daughter what his father did to him
8:35 scanlan unknowingly paying up all the child support he owes in one go
😂
Thank you very much for finding all the parts and putting this together
26:15 "quickest way to a man's heart is through stomach"... underneath the ribcage.
There's probably an ocean of blood or the like somewhere in the Abyss/some other plane, would love to see what happens when the blade gets unlimited blood
I can’t wait to see the scene where Grog hands the blade to Scanlan if it comes to the animated show.
"You better give him back or I'll find an abyss so dark and deep you will never feed again" damn
Just saw the trailer for the animated show's second season and thinking about what from all of this will make the cut?
"You can only imagine the blurred romantic tunnel vision" nice detail there matt
travis got unbelievably lucky with those resistance rolls up until the sword finally did him in. but in a way i'm sorta relieved he rolled a critical fail- if he hadn't rolled that nat 1 and rolled something more average, matt could've just as easily sicc'd a possessed, bloodlust-fueled grog on the party. i know that's not how the sword works, but humor me for a bit- imagine if when grog got up, instead of walking away and falling down dead, he walked up to one of the party members and just slashed. and don't get me wrong, i couldn't imagine the situation ending in any other way than what we got- but the surprise of it could've been both very intense and very entertaining.
Wish Vax, Vex and Keyleth would just stay back and shut up for once when it comes to Grog, to let Pike take the lead and talk to him. They know him, they know how he reacts to them and how differently he reacts to Pike. It was so frustrating to watch during the campaign, like I get being stressed but come on.
IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS 47:13
"There was a dagger that came with it." idea pops in Matt's head for next campaign
"Whatever it was, just put it back. I think they've earned it. Put it back." Caduceus Clay, in his own way, did what he was set on the path to do: Right a wrong that was unjustified from the beginning. To complete something incomplete. To close a circle that had been broken and shattered, by the winds and whims of Fate herself. To make a family of nine...whole, once more. For whatever reason, this makes me cry, knowing something Caleb had once asked: "Why did we come so far, and fight so far?" To which I would answer, "Well, Caleb, whether you knew it or not, you were on a journey to save family. To save a friend. That instead of saving the world, all you were trying to do is save one -- and in the process, save all. And sometimes, Caleb...one? One is enough."
The start of Jenga: “we need a safe word or something.” The birth of comedy is very mundane sometimes.
The fact that this arc is STILL relevant even in the current campaign is just 😱. And it all came from one page that Taliesin wrote, wow 😲 amazing
I mean, considering how much he got around it’s shocking it didn’t happen more often
Lol a dagger came with it...
I forgot how cool the craven edge was until the show came out. That's what I love about Matt's campaigns, everything has either a solid or interesting backstory or mystery to it, as if you could explore forever if you could.
26:35 love that ''Oh shit'' from Laura.
"You see pike motionless" Sam put his drink down so fast XD
With the LOVM out, this was a great recap.
I want a What-If style show with crit role and I need grog keeping craven edge as one of them
Yeah, I'd love that too. We know that grog (for the most part) was too dense for the sword to corrupt him quickly (and some lucky rolls helped with that too), but thinking about a slow burn decent into irresistible bloodlust is too compelling to pass up, especially considering grog's personality. His friends watching him shift in demeanor from this goofy, compassionate meathead into a more tired, irritable, seething malice would be fabulous. We got little tastes of it, but nothing too crazy. I'm hoping we get something more intense in the animated show.
How I still love this story so...
Damn this makes me want to revisit campaign 1
marisha is the worst
