Another nice looking mount and Great Video keep them coming and thanks for sharing!
Thanks, will do!
I think i missed it, what kind of glue are you using? Thanks!
I use headlock..It's a two part epoxy..I used to use killer glue, but they discontinued that..Headlock is a out the same..Mckenzie has their own brand as well, but it's not as good as headlock..👌
Great Video Buck Mountain glad to see your back at it
More to come!
Thanks 👍
This is super informative! Thank you for such a detailed instruction on doing this! Going to try your way with my next squirrel.
Ok did it 🤩👍🏻 waiting for it to dry while pinned.
@psychicamandamarie that's awesome!
I know very little about bondo, but could you use a plaster instead?
Bondo is sandable.Theres stuff out there that is better, but can get expensive..I took the easiest way out I could find
Where do u buy your forms
Fish reproductions are from Archie Phillips Taxidermy online..
Anything else I order is usually Mckenzie Taxidermy Supply
Excellent job! I learned a lot
Glad it was helpful!
For your first rodeo doing a head for a catfish I think you get an awesome job. Looks like your perfectionist as well. I know you got to be happy with it before you can let it go. That's the way I am. And I like say what an awesome job you did.😂
Thank you.👍
Hey, are you still active? I have found a dead squirrel in my garden. It died a day before, so a relatively fresh cadaver and completely intact. I have wrapped the squirrel in plastic wrapping foil and put it in my freezer. How do you advice going from defrosting/storing it to skinning it. Do you wash the cadaver before you begin? Do you let it fully defrost before beginning?
Did you end up finding anything on this? I'm in the same situation
Should make a good mount👍
Did you cast the form yourself or order it? My daughter caught one about that size a couple years ago and I’ve been trying to locate a form so I can do a repo for her. Haven’t had any luck finding one yet.
I ordered this one.Its a replica..Archie Phillips taxidermy is where I ordered it from..
Have any video of u doing brown trout with colors
Yes,it's on my channel.I may not have a list of the colors at the beginning, but tell my colors as I come to them while painting 👍
I really like Shane Smith's eye rings better than Wayne Cooper, I think Wayne's look unrealistic, at least the eye does. I don't know about the ring.
Thanks for the knowledge!👌👍
A small battery powered bolt cutter would be money for you!!!
It would be!
Great Video Buck Mountain Thanks for sharing keep them coming really enjoy watching them
Thanks, will do!👍
GREAT JOB BOBUCK😊😊
Thanks!👍
What size needle are you using in your air brush for that intricate detail. I've been practicing, but l have not been able to have that kind of control with mine.
Welp, not sure actually..They used to have numbers stamped on them, but not always..I would thin down my paints with lacquer thinner to get a better flow, and during hotter months,I would sometimes use "slow drying "lacquer thinner..For whatever reason,it's getting harder to find slow drying lacquer thinner..Sherwin Williams used to carry it,but now if I call about it,they don't even know what it is..The Taxidermy Supply Companies carry retarder which you can add to slow down drying time of lacquer thinner..Usually all I can find is medium drying at Lowes or Walmart..
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!
You're welcome 👍!Glad to help!
Another Great Video and nice refurbished mounts thanks for sharing and keep them coming Buck Mountain!
Thank you for watching!I'll keep doing that👍
YES I AGREE 1000%
How did you charge for that thanks for sharing
@frankmiller5080 Since all I had to do was put new capes on them,I charged for the price of one deerhead, plus alittle extra..
@@buckmountaintaxidermy7788 thanks
Thank you for this video. Do you salt and tan or pickle the hide, or just flesh and use dry preservative?
I just flesh and use dry preservative..I only am around on weekends now,as I'm a truckdriver through the week. Its easy, convenient, no ph issues..👍
@@buckmountaintaxidermy7788 thanks for the response and info. I am beginning work on my first bobcat. Will try it this way. Be safe on the roads and God bless.
@@StuartCary-ge8gn Thanks, and good luck with it!
@@buckmountaintaxidermy7788 thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
@@StuartCary-ge8gn You're welcome!
Do you scale the fish
Nope,I leave the scales intact, and scrape the meat off from the inside.👍
Best video I have seen
Thanks!👍
On a duck mount, I have done, after adding the soil to the glue on the base. I mixed 2 parts glue to 1 part water in a spray bottle and sprayed the soil heavily for two days. It worked out great. Also thanks for all the info you give in your videos.
Thanks!I like your info on the squirt bottle!Sounds like the way to go!👍
You’re a very talented man in the work you do! That was a lot of hard work you put into that mount! Never back off just keep going forward with what you do best! Beautiful piece of work you did for me! Thanks for everything and God bless you my man!!!! 👏👍
Thanks so much Greg!I'm glad you like it!That's a deer of a lifetime! We'll go do some fishing 🎣 soon!👍
Great Video Buck Mountain really enjoyed it thanks for sharing and Great looking mount too
Thank you so much!More on the way!
Do you put your deer in a lysol wash or anything?
Nope,just dishsoap 👍
Do you normally dry preserve all your work? Ever have any issues?
Nope, don't have issues,I've seen some of my work from 12 years ago,and still holding up great!
Yep,dry preserve all my work..No hair slippage whatsoever
That’s great just starting out I have tried both dry preserve and the tanning/pickling process. Both seem to work good. Dry preserve quicker for sure.
Do you use a prep wash on hides before mount
@usmcscout0311 Dish soap and water, then rinse in water..I need to note that I dip everything in a heavy solution salt and water first thing after skinning..Then rehydrate in soapy water, and rinse..It's been working for me..The salt kills the bacteria that causes hair to slip(just like when tanning). Then I apply on the preserve..It helps for a weekend taxidermist like me..🤫👌👍
Wow Very impressive
Thanks!
Biggest trout of my life. I couldn't be happier. Thank you sir
You're welcome!👍
Another Great Video Buck Mountain and nice job on the reproduction
Thanks for the compliment!👍
I always use a pearl blue stripe along the lateral-line & unto the cheek before I seal all with clear urethane.
Thanks for the information 👍
Too much work
😂😂😂😂😊😊😊 🎉🎉🎉 yes great vidio buck
I save a lot of your videos do u have any mounting a bedding buck like to see if u have to tuckfront legs on half mount
hanks
Another Great Video Buck Mountain keep them coming and thanks for sharing nice looking mount too
Awesome compliment John!👍Thank you!
looks good u ever try second 2 nature taxidermy supply
I've heard of them.I may have had a catalog once..I may look them up!
Great job. A crappie is one of the hardest fish to skin out. They are notorious for losing scales . Turned out really great. Nice job.
Thanks!Yep they are bad at losing scales!👍
Great Video keep them coming Buck Mountain really enjoy watching them and Great looking mount too
Thanks!Will do,and more to come!👍
😂🎉😂W/O THAT ISVA FANTASTIC MOUNT YOU DID A GREAT JOB ON IT 😅😅😅😅
Thanks!
Question, I've watched a few of your older videos on mounting ducks and im wondering where do you get the foam you use to carve bodies?
Hi.I order mine from Mckenzie Taxidermy Supply 1-800-279-7985.Happy Thanksgiving!
@@buckmountaintaxidermy7788 ahh, okay thanks !! Happy Thanksgiving !!! 🦃🦃🦃
I like the head. Thx for the time put in. Id only use this for a decoy. Needs to be washed more, groomed more, better symmetry... anyhow good for the beginners and someone actually postingba turkey vid online for a change.
Where did this replica come from and what mod is it
I actually ordered it off ebay.I stripped the old paint job off, then I repainted it
It looks like maybe an Archie Phillips Reproduction, but I may be wrong on that
@@buckmountaintaxidermy7788 I believe your right
Where do you buy the form
I usually get my deer forms from Mckenzie Taxidermy..I use the ones made by Mckenzie..(Denny Behn)..Bird bodies, from the van dykes catalog, but Mckenzie Taxidermy has everything you need. They will send you a catalog if you request. Have a great day!
