The organ in this recording is not Ernest Skinner's 1930 masterpiece. In 1953, G. Donald Harrison of Aeolian-Skinner altered Ernest Skinner's masterpiece according to the new and emerging tonal ideas of the time. The result, known as American Classic, was an entirely different organ sound which was leaner and clearer, but the lush warmth of orchestral tone which was Ernest Skinner's genius was gone forever.
