Pantry Tour to kick off the January pantry challenge
Join me while I show you what’s in my pantry. January kicks off the pantry challenge where we focus on eating what we preserved. I make much more intentional meal plans to try and use what we have and depend very minimally on the grocery store. Join us this month to see what we come up with!

Let try the $22 Amazon quail egg peeler together for the first time!

I purchased this quail egg peeler from Amazon. It was delivered today just in time for making some pickled quail eggs. I will warn you that there is a lot of toddler noises and talking in the background. My little was very interested in what we were doing.

We harvested one 12x4 raised bed. We built this bed at the beginning of the season. We filled the bottom with the hugelkulture method and topped it with goat compost, peat, and top soil. We do talk about our thoughts about the harvest at the end of the video. Thank you for watching! Be sure to like and subscribe. End of the summer garden tour 2023
มุมมอง 56ปีที่แล้ว
It’s been a very busy year but I wanted to get a garden tour in before the season was over. It’s been pretty cool in Northern Michigan this summer and the garden is on its way out very soon. Despite a very dry beginning to the season we did end up with abundant and beauty. We are very blessed and this garden has filled our pantry. You can also find us…. Chive Harvest Part 2….preserving harvest.
มุมมอง 6ปีที่แล้ว
We are preserving our harvest! I love knowing what’s in our food. This time of the year when the harvests are small it reminds me to be grateful for the “spare” time to get tasks done, soon it will be overly abundant and rushed to preserve everything at peak freshness.
Harvest chive blossoms and more with me today!

New to you channel. Your pantry look great. Who cares what it looks like as long as it works for you. I love all the sauce you have. I may need to get some recipe from you.
You have a pantry and you have food in that pantry. You are ahead of a lot of people. You are doing awesome.
Didn’t know pantries were supposed to be the home dec spot of the house. Mine is in what I assume was a dining room.
I want to learn to do the medicinal stuff would you consider doing Video’s on each of those or a few. ???
Beautiful pantry, love the way you have it organized and that is open and easy to see what you have and to move around in.
It looks fabulous!!!! Looks like a lot of hard work went into it!!
Your pantry is the real thing and something the majority of us can identify with! It represents a lot of work, well done! We also wrestled with the expense of adding to (and replacing) our shelving (and we are of VERY modest means). Hard decision, but three months hence, I can tell you it was THE BEST investment! I thought of all I could buy with that money, food, an electric canner, etc., but none of it compares to the peace of mind we built! Because we are DIYers, we built them heavy duty to handle the weight (and then some) and secured them to the rafters and framework of our basement for earthquake protection (yep upstate NY gets earthquakes too). Nothing fancy, just 2x4 construction, but beautiful in functionality and organization. No more recanning something I have stored in a box on the floor and forgot!
Thank you. I bet it’s so nice having everything on the shelf.
I think your pantry is beautiful.
Thank you ❤
What you do have is a beautiful pantry with great food that will sustain your family. Well done.
Thank you. ❤
What a fantastic pantry, you should be justly proud of it. All home canned, mostly home grown Foods. It’s the pantry I’m working towards ( almost there)
Thank you. You are almost there, I love that for you!
Mine looks pathetic compared to yours and I'm still proud of how mine looks!
I’m sure yours is amazing.
I think your pantry is lovely!
Thank you.
Wow, my first response was thayts a lot of work not if the pantry was atheistically pleasing- well done 😊
Thank you. We are our own worst critics.
Amazing pantry ❤
Thank you!
This video popped in my feed because I love pantry tours. Your first few sentences made mestoo, hit subscribe and write this comment. I love pantry tours!! I lovely pantry and I'm doing the pantry challenge this year. I REALLY REALLLY LOVE real pantries of normal people that aren't stylized for views, etc. I already see my pantry in your pantry and I love it! I can see the hours and hours and hours that went into filling it, and the thought that went into each additional shelf or box! Be very proud of this! Now, there may be other comments as I watch, just act surprised, lol
Awww thank you so much! I appreciate it.
21:02 “A nice beautiful jar of”… of what? I can’t figure out what you said. This is a great pantry, thank you so much for sharing. The syrups for lemonade sound delicious! And fermented quail eggs? Oh my! ❤
A beautiful jar of Ghost Pipe. The quail eggs are fridge pickled not fermented.
Recipes - love your pantry
I will try putting out videos those.
Your pantry is gorgeous to me!! Be proud of what you’ve accomplished! I don’t think you need to “re-do” the pantry. But like you said - lots of wasted space. I was watching another channel and they were discussing their shelving units and they said they pretty much took 3 shelf units and combined the shelves on to 2 of the units to make them closer together and use up a lot of that wasted space. Then you can get a few more or build a few more shelves to replace the ones you used to combine and VOILA! But I think your pantry is pretty amazing. I’m just getting started and I’ve got just a couple 6 shelf metal cabinets. Because I don’t have any space for something like you’ve got. Very impressive the variety of your canned items. Nice job! Can’t wait to see more from you. This was my first video and I’m not subscribed! Have a great day!
@@tonyapenelton7178 thanks! I will definitely be looking into that idea.
I'm not sure why I never thought of the shelf "hack" or adding more shelves to be more efficient with space. And her pantry IS gorgeous!
I meant it to read I am NOW subscribed. Lol sorry for that typo!! I honestly never thought of that hack either- always right in your face til someone tells you. Lol I’ve got a few shelves I’m definitely going to do this with for some of my storage.
You’ve done a great job. I’m inspired.
dont worry about your pantry room. i love it!!! i wish mine was so organized and nice looking!
Aww thank you!
can you share the rotel recipe please
Yes. I will get that this week and post it here for you.
a cheaper temporary shelf fix is. to buy another shelf or 2 and just use the shelves to add to your current shelves instead of building the actual unit. works wonderfully! 💜 I am doing the challenge on my channel as well
Awesome. Thanks!
Great job, very impressive!!!
1. Beautiful pantry!!! (And I'm a pantry tour binge watcher. 😂) 2. You can buy just the wire shelves or buy another unit and use just the shelves. 3. Another option is to use bricks and plywood to create shelving on existing shelves.
@@BouncySlim1 I’m a pantry tour binge watcher too. We are definitely looking for wire shelves to add. We are kinda rural so I haven’t found them in the right sizes because those shelves are 3 different lengths. Bricks and boards might be an easy quick option. Thanks for the suggestions.
@@elysianhomestead just make sure that you still consider the weight limits per shelf for the ones you have if you do add on.
Me too! Binge watching pantry tours now as I move cans down to mine, lol. Hers is great isn't it!?
with those wire racks, you can just remove the top shelf, nove it down where u want it and add more shelves where you need them. I do it all the time.
@@GardeningWarrior I just might do that. Thanks.
It is so beautiful ... I love this so much.. Good job sweet lady ..
@@joanwalker4199 thank you.
What do you mean? That pantry is gorgeous. I dream of having enough space to do just that.
@@JanalynVoigt awww thank you.
I just came across your channel!! Love your pantry! Would love to see you do some canning videos!! You are amazing at preserving everything!!! Thank you for sharing!!
@@Sunflowers7989 thank you. I will definitely work on making some canning videos.
Wow! You have an impressive pantry! Even in my canning hay day, I never had the assortment that you do. I did can pineapple this morning, bought 14 pineapples for $6 last week.
@@dh4398 awesome deal! I’m feeding my family if 6 plus some extended family and we all love variety.
New here. First I want to say that you pantry is perfectly fine. No need to make excuses for how it looks. Next, as far as you shelving goes, maybe think of purchasing more shelving units and just adding THOSE shelves to your existing racks? 🤔 That's what Jessica did from Three Rivers homestead. She just added more racks 🤷🏼♀️
@@joannak4640 thank you! I’ll look into that option.
Wow, your a rock star. Love all your oriental condiments and so many options for meals. Thank you for showing your pantry, it is a beautiful selection.
@@coastalsands thank you so much!
I just found your Chanel. I want to your recipes!!! Please post next Year when you can. You have allot of pear 🍐🍐🍐 recipes Ii love them nobody cans jams or pear butter. Also you canned a lot of cranberry things and other interesting things. Thank you for taking the time to share your pantry with us.
@@wendy3437 thank you. I mostly use the ball recipes and the national center for home food preservation recipes. I do have some not tested but safe by canning standards that I got from canning groups that follow safe practices.
you have a lovely pantry my pantry is a little room in my basement that my granny used to store her canning in it has 3 long selves on one wall and some shelves I added to it sadly it leaks water on the floor through the wall when it rains hard but it is better than nothing I guess
@@mandiejohnson2802 what a special place though. I would cherish to be able to put my canned goodies where my grandma did. ❤️

RE: the shelves, I’ve seen other set ups where four sets of those metal shelves are constructed into two sets (so, 6 shelves per rack instead of 3). Might be a quick and affordable way to add to what you already have.
@@Erin_of_Australia yes definitely a great idea. Thanks.
You’re wrong - your pantry is not just functional and beautiful, it’s a work of art. Anyone who knows about food preservation would feel the same.
Thank you so much! ❤
