Thruster Oz
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 13 พ.ค. 2022
Welcome to Thruster OZ.
The plan is to share the fun and freedom of flying an ultralight in Australia.
Thruster TST 25-0168 was rescued from storage and is now back in the air after a 9 year break.
I have been flying General Aviation aircraft for over 30 years and fell in love with the first Thruster that I got to fly. After converting my CPL to a Recreational licence I purchased '168' and went about making it good as new.
Thruster 168 is a 1988 model built in Australia with a Rotax 503 engine. It weighs 150kgs (without fuel and passengers) and cruises at around 45kts.
In 2023 we added a Skyreach Bushcat to the fleet - 340kgs empty and 100hp! Cruises at around 80kts and can carry 2 people, fuel and a handbag.
Both aircraft are amazing to fly and offer affordable options against more conventional (GA) aircraft.
For anyone with a passion for hands on flying - it doesn't get any better then this.
I look forward to sharing more adventures with you in the future.

Tassie Tiger! Join us as we bring a DH82 Tiger Moth from South Australia - Tasmania to its new home.
Old aeroplanes have always had a special charm - and so when the opportunity came up to purchase a 1940's DH82a Tiger Moth I had to make it happen :)
Only issue was there are no Tigers in Tasmania!
VH-BUG was purchased from Hindmarsh Island in South Australia - over 800nm away from Tasmania.
The aircraft was fully restored years ago by Barry Hills and more recently was owned by a pilot that spent most of his time overseas. For me it was the best choice with low hours and in excellent condition.
This particular aircraft was built from surplus WW2 parts back in 1960 and used as a crop duster before various 'incidents' eventually led it to being restored to its current condition.
No electric starter, not many instruments but it does have 2 wings!
Join us as we fly the Bushcat over and meet with some friends in a Cirrus before making the journey back to Tasmania - including the 3 hour over water flight across the Bass Strait.
A once in the life time experience I was able to share with good friends and my gorgeous twins Carlos and Amelia (who took turns in the front seat all the way back).

Putting new skin on a CAT!! New wing skins fitted to a Skyreach Bushcat Ultralight Aircraft.
มุมมอง 1.1K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
The Skyreach Bushcat is a great aircraft however the Trilam material used as a 'skin' has a limited life. The UV damages the outer layer and although the skin remains serviceable it starts to look a bit average after 5 years or so. New skins were purchased (they aren't cheap) from the factory in South Africa. I actually have a full set of skins to fit but it took 6 days (8hrs per day with 2 peo...
Flying a Helicopter for the first time!! Bushcat pilot takes control of a Robinson R44 for a lesson.

I have always loved helicopters and have flown in them plenty, I even worked alongside helicopter pilots when I flew commercial fixed wings but never really have I had a chance to fly one... so after all these years I booked myself in for a 1hr lesson with Utility Helicopters at Archerfield, Queensland. Sadly the headset/patch lead wasn't compatible so I couldn't record Audio and I only ran 2 c...
Flying over Cradle Mountain in Tasmania. Bushcat ultralight aircraft exploring the wilderness.
มุมมอง 6788 หลายเดือนก่อน
Cradle Mountain is one of the most iconic locations to visit in Tasmania. Surrounded by stunning wilderness, the mountain is popular for hikers and tourists yet never really got my attention until I seen a few people post pictures from the air I had to go and look for myself! A few failed attempts due to weather but finally I got there and wow - it was worth it. The video/pictures do not do it ...

OzSTOL 2024 - Australia's short takeoff and landing (STOL) competition at Luskintyre NSW.
มุมมอง 7K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
OzSTOL 2024 - My first ever aircraft competition!! Flew the Skyreach Bushcat ultralight aircraft from Tasmania up to New South Wales to compete in the shortest take off and landing competition. Around 9 hours flying each way spread over 2 days for just 3 take offs and landings. Competition is based around your takeoff distance added to your landing distance (from a set of flags). Not my best vi...
Can you STOL a Bushcat? Short Takeoff and Landing practice for the upcoming OZSTOL event in NSW
มุมมอง 1.3K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
PART 2 - STOL Practice Taking the Bushcat to OZSTOL next week so getting some practice in. The Bushcat has STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) capabilities but is not a 'hard core' STOL aircraft but with some practice - it can easily take off and land inside 100m (300ft for those in other parts of the world). The recent Redbull stunt in Dubai involved landing a Cub Crafters on the Burj Al Arab he...

STOL Flying - Part 1 - Stalling the Bushcat STOL Flying - Part 2 - Short Take Off and Landings (coming soon...) The Bushcat is heading to NSW in a week for OZSTOL and so I decided I should brush up on my short take off and landing skills. DISCLAIMER I am not an instructor or even a great pilot - but I do try my best and this video is designed to just provide some entertainment - but also to enc...
Tyabb Airshow 2024 - Bushcat flight from Tasmania over for the day!
มุมมอง 1.2K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
A quick flight over the Bass Strait to attend the 2024 Tyabb Airshow in Victoria. Hot weather and headwinds made it a 4hr trip one way but a much quicker trip on the return. Not a lot of airshow vision sorry - but at least you will get a taste of what goes on and how long it takes to fly an ultralight from Tassie to Victoria! Future videos should include more reliable go-pros and audio - apolog...
Bushcat Flying, Tv Driving and a lap of Bathurst! A week long trip flying from Tas to NSW for Work.
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Jump on board the Skyreach Bushcat as I depart home (Tasmania) and travel nearly 3000kms in a loop to Bathurst in NSW, home to Australia's great race. Crossing the Bass Strait (the large section of water between Tasmania and Australia), Stopping at a few spots and then spending 4 days in Oberon to shoot a TV commercial. A little behind the scenes and lots of flying talk. A few passenger rides a...
