Cessna Citation N238JP Runway Incursion at KUDD
มุมมอง 1.9K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Arrogant and accusatory Citation driver tries to blame me for HIS runway incursion during my takeoff. Unfortunately, I turned on the cam just after making my call and crossing the runway hold line to take the active (you can see my fingers on the cam in the opening frames). He claims that I never made a call, but later admits that he didn't hear my call which is entirely different. The Phenom J...

    Great flight you might want to turn your VOX delay down on your head set if you have an adjustment for that, it's clipping the beginning of everything you say.

      An emergency procedure if for some reason the electrical starter doesn't work. If you are gliding around the prop is feathered, that is the pitch angle is set very high to lessen drag. To start the engine you lower the nose to increase speed and change the prop angle to allow the prop to produce thrust. The increased airspeed turns or windmills the prop which the spins the crankshaft to start the engine. The prop pitch angle is manually changed using a level located on the bottom of the instrument panel.

    • @TheSoaringChannel
      @TheSoaringChannel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tomconte2847 not just an emergency. If you soar long enough you could inadvertently drain the batteries far enough to not be able to use the starter. That means you've had a good flight 🤤

    Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you were operating at an uncontrolled airport. If that's the case, is it not also your responsibility to monitor the frequency and perhaps remind the pilot of the Citation that you are taking off and request that he go around? Regardless, handled well in the moment.

  • @collinshea441
    @collinshea441 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just some pilot who thinks he knows it all, its a shame how fast he tries to report you before realizing that he was the one at fault for not clearing the runway, which we all learn on our first flight lesson lol

    So you're able to get up from the Indio area over the mountains and up to Warner? Does it take a while to gain the altitude to do that?

    • @palmstopinesgliding1449
      @palmstopinesgliding1449 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the day. On a good day, we can climb at over 1000 feet per minute, so it doesn't take long at all. Also, we stop to work thermals along the way, so we don't get too low...

  • @csaviation9013
    @csaviation9013 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there any particular reason you flew from the right hand seat instead of the normal left hand seat?

    • @palmstopinesgliding1449
      @palmstopinesgliding1449 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I'm used to having the stick in my right hand and operating spoilers, throttle, gear, and pretty much everything else with my left hand as is the norm for gliders. From the left seat everything is on the "wrong" side. I tried the left seat a few times and hated it.

      Thanks Michael. I go cross country engine-off whenever I can. However, some of my vids are motor-on the whole way... flying low over the San Andreas Fault or the Salton Sea, for example. Cool (relatively speaking) weather starts in October... Hope you can make it!
