Hi Nige,Excellent footage from an eventful year. Hopefully with Tornado scheduled to return to the mainline this year, you'll get a bit more variety. As for Flying Scotsman... I'm not holding my breath.
Many thanks Callum and glad you enjoyed watching, will be good to see Tornado retuning and hopefully Duke of Gloucester, hard to say what’s happening with Scotsman at present, cheers 👍
Great filming Nige cracking winter footage 👍
@@PaulKnapper-cn5io Many thanks Paul, couldn’t have asked for a better day with the winter conditions, cheers 👍
Hello Nigel , yes it is me! How's it going? Well I did manage 1 mainliner in 2024 - a Black 5 from Norwich at 06.25 in the morning but it was rubbish! I don't post much anymore as people do not want to see NNR stuff it seems. I did enjoy having Betton Grange at Sheringham over the summer, it was a super machine. Look after your self, and say Hi to Steve and Mr. Brass, I am off to Canada tomorrow, new grand - daughter time! Cheers John
@@snowjohnb Hi John, nice to hear from you and hope you and your good lady are both well, we’ve been kept reasonably busy lineside although West Coast issues with air braked loco shortages meant Tangmere most of the time and Riley’s Black 5s when available as well as Saphos tours so hopefully this year will be better, I will pass on your regards to Steve and Mr Brass and congratulations on your new granddaughter, take care and enjoy your time in Canada, best wishes nige
Superb footage! Gorgeous weather as well with the blue skies, frosty morning and snow on the ground up Shap. I was aboard and took a couple of pics as we climbed Shap …. Many thanks for braving the cold to capture. Really enjoyable tour and the 87 performed well all day! 👍
Many thanks for your lovely comments, glad you had a great journey as you couldn’t have asked for a better day to travel, cheers nige👍
Great collection Nige from your adventures in 2024, lets hope this year is nowhere near as wet as last year. Look forward to meeting up somewhere out there in 2025.
Many thanks Alistair, yes hopefully not as wet but we’ll take what comes as we do, hopefully the CDL issue is sorted so we can see more variety of steam from Carnforth, I’m sure we’ll bump into each other somewhere along the line, cheers 👍
Great compilation been a good year for steam with you.
Many thanks Derek, yes better than what we were expecting although not as much variety as we usually see due to the CDL issues but hopefully that will improve this year and hopefully much better for you as well, cheers nige 👍
Great Video!
Thanks Derek, the conditions certainly made the difference, cheers nige 👍
The van on the M6 looks to be taking the lead. Wonder if the 87 was running under double yellows at Tebay cus shes hardly tanking it on the approach to Shap. Id say 60-70mph over the usual 95+
That’s a difficult one to judge so hopefully someone on board may be able to confirm what speed was achieved but thanks for watching, cheers 👍
@@nige7577I was aboard! I think it was about 75mph … we had caught up the Class 88 hauled Tesco train ahead and cruised behind it all the way to Carlisle 👍
@@ModelRailwayThank you that’s much appreciated, cheers 👍
Ideal conditions today for the Capital Scot Nige, shame it was not steam on shap, a great video on a cold day, cheers Steve . 🎥👍
Thanks Steve, couldn’t have asked for a better day although steam would have been nice we can’t complain, cheers 👍
Nice video shots of 87002 Nige. Super winter landscapes. Cheers - Allan. 🙂
Many thanks Allan, it was great to see Royal Sovereign back where she belongs flying up Shap, cheers nige👍
Lovely shots Nige, in perfect conditions. You are a braver man than me, reported overnight temperature on Shap was -11C🙀🙀🙀
Many thanks David, defrosting the car was the main problem although the roads were fine and I was well insulated when I got to Shap Wells which didn’t feel as cold as it was with the sun out but it was, hope we get some days like this when the steam tours start next month, cheers 👍
It's remarkable that we're now just over 20years since the last Seven flattened The Fells for the last time with a service train and we can still occasionally sample this delight again today, many thanks to those at LSL for making this possible.👍🏻 Since driving back into town having been to see The Sovereign myself I noticed your car missing from your driveway & immediately started to wonder where you'd be.😉 Lovely footage Nige, many thanks for sharing.
Many thanks Ian, it doesn’t seen that long ago when I’d take my two young lads to Beckfoot to watch the passing trains, that’s one thing to be said about LSL who have brought back to life various traction and liveries which were a common sight back in the day so credit to those involved, always worth going out for and it had to be somewhere around Shap Wells with the view down the bank and snow on the ground, thanks again nige.
Great shots nige. 😀. The sort of weather that's nice when you're out, but going out of a warm house in the morning is the hard bit 🥶
Thanks Phil, defrosting the car was the hard bit🥶 plenty of thermals on and lovely conditions so couldn’t ask for a better day, cheers 👍
@nige7577 haha, tell me about it! My van wouldn't start the last couple of days. Charger on and it started after a few minutes, then more time defrosting 🙄. Roll on spring 😀
Great job Nige, lovely shots
Thanks Ian, the conditions certainly made a difference, cheers 👍
Superb video. Absolutely stunning scenery!
Many thanks Ewaar, you can’t beat some snow to highlight the surrounding landscape, cheers 👍
So lovely to see an 87 and MK3's heading over the snowy Cumbrian fells!
Thanks Lynden, it’s just a shame it’s the only one left running now so couldn’t have asked for a better day, cheers 👍
@nige7577 Great lads at LSL and the locos are always in good nice. Brilliant video once again at one of my favourite locations, thank you.
@@lyndengrant1657Yes a lot of credit to LSL for bringing back some great locos and liveries, one of my favourite locations as well, thanks again Lynden.
Ooh lovely old school train - thanks for braving the weather to share this with us much appreciated
Thanks Louise, what was once a common sight now a rarity sadly, still a nice way to go to school and a cold day is much better than a rainy day on Shap😂 cheers 👍
Nige, A stunning compilation. Regards, John
Much appreciated John, glad you enjoyed watching, regards nige 👍
Nige, Perfect conditions resulting in brilliant captures. Regards, John

Well worth going out in the cold for.❄👍
Thanks David, yes couldn’t ask for better conditions, cheers 👍
Superb Nige , well worth going out for especially in those perfect conditions 🥶🥶
Thanks Steve, we don’t get much opportunity when these conditions come along so worked out nicely that there was a charter running, cheers 👍
Lovely shots Nige, looked a tad chilly! Hope you've thawed out now

Lovely to see this once common sight again, thanks for braving the cold and for sharing these superb shots 👌
Many thanks Steve, it’s a pleasure and I was well insulted so didn’t feel the cold, such a shame that it’s the only one left running now on the mainline, cheers nige👍
All of them were amazing recordings 👍
Many thanks for your lovely comment PointA Rail, cheers 👍
Quality guaranteed from you as ever Nige , considering the problems we got a decent mix over 2024 with 45407 standing out in December. Hopefully we might get a surprise this year mate 🤞
Many thanks Steve, it worked out better than what we thought it would so hopefully an even better year to come, cheers 👍
A strange year in many ways Nige with the lack of variety in traction but you have a good selection of shots of steam that ran plus the diesels
Many thanks Austin, yes it certainly was and luckily the Fives were available when needed so we’ll wait and see what this year brings, cheers 👍
Very nice video Nige :)
Many thanks Simon, glad you enjoyed watching, cheers 👍
Nicely put together Nige and hoping for more of the same this season.👍👍
Many thanks David, hopefully more steam variety this year as well, cheers 👍
Excellent filming and editing of the year gone Nige, Tangmere was a busy loco but we did get some nice variation too, but i hope to see some new steam this year, well we will have to wait and see, cheers 👍🎥
Many thanks Steve, considering the shortage of air braked locos at Carnforth we didn’t do too bad as well as the visiting locos and hopefully looking forward to some favourites returning this year but time will tell on that one, cheers 👍
A busy year Nige with excellent coverage of 2024, thanks for sharing
My pleasure John and many thanks, hopefully some more variety this year, cheers 👍
An excellent 2024 review Simon and very enjoyable viewing of your years filming. Happy New Year. Cheers - Allan. 👍👍
Many thanks Allan and glad you enjoyed watching, it’s always a difficult one deciding which shots to use and which to leave out, cheers nige👍
Five star compilation of action in the NW including superb performances from the Fab Fives.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Many thanks Stephen, I would say the Fives saved the day due to West Coast’s shortage of air braked locos so looking forward to an even better 2025, cheers nige👍
Happy New Year Nige... What an excellent round up, 'bags' of variety with some lovely footage. For me the winner is: Yes you've guessed it 44871👍👌👍 Now the omission being 46115, which would have taken the 'prize'. Sincere thanks Nige, looking for more of the same during 2025. All The Best.
Happy New Year George and many thanks for your lovely comments, hopefully we will see 46115 this year as well as some returning favourites giving us some more variety, very best wishes nige👍
