I have always believed that ethical business is good business. So even if you are cynical, you can see that Mel was rewarded for being good. Typically you might not have that immediate result yourself. However, maybe your kids will get the benefit. The idea is even if you don't consider yourself to be a good person, it can pay off. Fake it long enough (to paraphrase someone) and you can become good.
