Chapter 10- Building an effective international workforce
This podcast accompanies Chapter 10 "Building an effective international workforce" of our textbook.
In this chapter, we examine the influence of national culture on key instruments of international HRM. Our focus is on the design of international recruitment and selection, training and development, compensation as well as performance management. The reader will be familiarized with these HRM practices and the question, how they should be adapted to fit specific cultures. We will further discuss how international migrants can be best integrated into the local workforce. The integration of international migrants into the local labor markets possess great opportunities, but also great challenges. We will therefore discuss how organizations can facilitate the integration of international migrants and therewith contribute to employee well-being and organizational performance. In terms of toolkits, this chapter provides suggestions how to deal with challenging interview questions and scenarios, checklists for things to consider during performance management and guidelines for the integration of international migrants.

Thanks for sharing such valuable information! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
Very informative for new researchers.
Nice!
Thank you so much, Dr.Nicole
so good
It happened to us also in Thailand, and we are not Germans, we are Romanians :))
Good
This has really been helpful. Thank you for sharing these videos, the codes, and the nicely written paper👏👏
Hi.... Is cIPMA tutorial video available?
It is in progress and we are also working on a manuscript with a tutorial...
Hello, The video is very good and self-explanatory. I have a query regarding chart. The article you referred is showing the chart with yellow and green color lines. I checked the properties in SmartPls 4 but there is not option to enable that. also in your video it is not visible. also the background effects.
What's time aveeaged and lagged data
Hope the paper will be available very soon!

Too low audio!
Audio is barely hearable!
Dear Prof. Richter, I am wondering about how to interpret the Intercept of the model output. Would you be able to provide me with a brief explanation? Thank you!

this is great Prof Nicole!
Hello Ma'am. Should both X and Y be on the same scale (i.e. both either discreet or both either continuous) to run the analysis?
They can be on the same or on different measurement levels - all is possible; have a look at this (currently available first via Research Gate) to get some further insights (or of course consult Jan's classical Quick Start Guide that relates to the software R): Richter, N. F., Hauff, S., Ringle, C. M., Sarstedt, M., Kolev, A. E., & Schubring, S. (2023). How to apply necessary condition analysis in PLS-SEM. In H. Latan, J. F. Hair, & R. Noonan (Eds.), Partial Least Squares Path Modeling: Basic Concepts, Methodological Issues and Applications: Springer.
@@NicoleFranziskaRichter Thanks a lot. Will refer the paper
Hi, I know this is a stupid question but the bottleneck tables produce only percentiles. How do I convert them into percentages that can be reported? Thanks
Not at all stupid: in SmartPLS, there are currently three options to display the bottleneck tables: Percentage Ranges / Actual Values for the dependent construct, and Actual Values, Counts and Percentiles for the independent constructs. I.e. if you want to reproduce the R-Studio percentages for the independent constructs, you will need to do that yourself. Please find further explanations here (available currently in Research Gate first): Richter, N. F., Hauff, S., Ringle, C. M., Sarstedt, M., Kolev, A. E., & Schubring, S. (2023). How to apply necessary condition analysis in PLS-SEM. In H. Latan, J. F. Hair, & R. Noonan (Eds.), Partial Least Squares Path Modeling: Basic Concepts, Methodological Issues and Applications: Springer.
@@NicoleFranziskaRichter Thank you for the prompt reply :)
is 2023 How to apply NCA in PLS SEM (Springer) paper available online?
I really love your effort, but I can´t hear a thing... Can you fix the audio?
Thanks for uploads but the audio is very low ... it is hard to listen
Thanks a lot for your support.
thank you very much for this video
super useful
Working from an alpha level of 0,01 Well.🤔.
Thank you so much Professor for your NCA tutorials. My IV is discrete with 7 levels. Do I need to specify this in the model and if yes, how do I go about it? Also should the 7 levels be in numeric format (1,2,3...7) or should they be in text format?
Dear NCA-user, you will use the numeric format from 1-7 and will then use the stepwise function in your analysis (CE-FDH). Cheers, Nicole
@@NicoleFranziskaRichter thank you.
I am going to put into practice with soft skills database in order to check if it is the kind of analysis I was looking for for years ;-)
Thank you Nicole. Great sharing session.
Thanks for the demonstration. I couldn't find data file on RG. How can I access it? Thanks
Dear Omid, yes, it is a bit hidden - here is the link: www.researchgate.net/publication/338804586_Necessary_Condition_Analysis_in_International_Business_-_Example_Data_Averaged_ie_indicators_on_institutional_environments_averaged_from_2010-2017_compiled_from_the_following_sources_Worldbank_Transpa I decided to also create a download link on my SDU website; if the above does not work, you find it here: portal.findresearcher.sdu.dk/en/impacts/necessary-condition-analysis-video-tutorials Enjoy! Cheers, Nicole
@@NicoleFranziskaRichter Thank you. I found it. Best Regards
Thank you Prof. Nicole, the tutorials on NCA are really useful. I performed NCA analysis on my data. However, I am getting all 0.0 values in the bottleneck table. Does 0.0 mean NN?
Its an excellent video for beginners to start with Nvivo. You did an amazing job. Thanks a bunch for such helpful video.
@Nicole Is there any document to understand the applicability of CR and CE, any specific cases, where to use which ceiling technique?
Dear Vakru, some first thoughts from Jan's textbook (p. 58) are here: CE-FDH: can be used as the ceiling line when X or Y are discrete or when the pattern of points near the border is irregular. CR-FDH: can be used when X and Y are continuous or discrete with many levels, and when the pattern of points near the border is approximately linear; another reason to select this line is when it is assumed that the ‘true’ ceiling line in the population is a straight line. More information is in the textbook : Dul, J., 2020. Conducting Necessary Condition Analysis. Sage Publications, London.* Hope that you have access and that it will help! Cheers, Nicole *books.google.nl/books?id=dsyYDwAAQBAJ&pg=PT13&dq=nca+book+necessary&hl=nl&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwii6N-a6cDsAhUySEEAHXrdDv0Q6AEwAHoECAUQAg#v=onepage&q=nca%20book%20necessary&f=false
Can we use indicators to form constructs and use NCA? Can you suggest any research paper in Decision making where various indicators were used to define latent variables like we do in SEM and then operated with NCA
Dear Vakru, yes you can: All procedures work (such as factor analysis or PLS-SEM scores)! We have a fresh research paper out that discusses the combined use of PLS-SEM and NCA, maybe this could be of use: RICHTER/SCHUBRING/HAUFF/RINGLE/SARSTED 2020. When predictors of outcomes are necessary: Guidelines for the combined use of PLS-SEM and NCA. Industrial Management & Data Systems. See here: www.emerald.com/insight/content/doi/10.1108/IMDS-11-2019-0638/full/html Cheers, Nicole
@@NicoleFranziskaRichter Thank You
Thank you Prof., Richter for these great tutorials. These help a lot. Please we need another tutorial video how to make bottleneck table for the same data set. Thank you in advance.
It could be more practical and userfriendly if the links would be in the description. Nevertheless, thanks for making it little easier for us and sharing this video. ❤
a very good video to start, I wish I had seen this video some months ago when I started with Nvivo. Just as a general comment, I found it difficult to find videos explaining the more advanced analysis tools and visualization of data.
what tools can I use to analyze different time and how would I use it in Nvivo 12?
I am using Nvivo12 Plus and I have longitudinal data. What's the best way to organize the data so I can compare data for participants at Time1 with Time 2?
Thank you. Very helpful. Do yourself a favor and get a wireless mouse. 😶
