Love Ben Elton. He has made me laugh so much over my lifetime. I’m so proud to have studied at the same University as Ben, Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson. And of course Ludwig Wittgenstein 😂

Everything cox says is lies. The moon is plasma and the sun and moon are local and not in fake "space".

Black people were slaves in your history, don't pollute science with that bias history
Since the Higgs was found in 2012 this is not from 2017 -maybe it was posted then- but it’s damned unscientific neglecting its creation date. Also-churlish of the lion cub filmmakers to deny Dr Cox broadcast use of that clip. Now unburdened with gripes, would like to mention this lecture was wonderful and Dr Brian Cox is a radiant polymath genius of our age.
2024 re watch
Amazing is to small a word to quantify what Brian Cox has presented here in this video and his inspiration from Carl Sagan is glorious , isn't science amazing.

I REALLY FELT EXTREMELY GLAD AND DELIGHTED TO HEAR THE FREE AND FRANK QUESTIONS ASKED BY HER EXCELLENCY PROFESSOR DAME NANCY RUTHWELL, AND THE INTERSTING AND STIMULATING ANSWERS GIVEN BY SIR ANDRE GEIM, WHO DEVELOPED GRAPHENE IN THE PHYSICS DEPARTMENT OF MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY., FOR WHICH HE WAS AWARDED NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSICS( 2010). I PRAY GOD THAT THE GREAT LEGACY OF OUR BELOVED MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY TO PROMOTE ORIGINAL RESEARCH, WILL CONTINUE IN THE DECADES TO COME! GOD BLESS OUR GREAT UNIVERSITY! (Posted by Professor KUMANKATTIL AHAMED MOHAMED, PhD in Physics, Manchester University, 1977).
Why bring up politics?
Now that i know it, i will do my best to forget it.
Ironically, Mr Cox is here involved in the explicit rejection of science communication. He prefers the Summary for Policymakers, i.e. political communication.
Prof Cox would do well to slow down slightly during his presentation. Although I enjoy immensely what he has to say, I come away with an impression of someone in a desperate rush to get the message across. My observation in no way diminishes from the high regard in which he is held.
He’s enthusiastic
LOL, professor LOL if he's a professor I'm a cat.
The university of manchester is a racist university and encourages that racism in its medical school. Salford hospital is rife with clinical teaching staff including under prof redmond who caused a lot of non-white students problems. you are a disgrace uom!
Sorry but I can't get past his hair. It just looks so greasy and dirty.
gravity comes about through the movement of matter like magnetic field from movement of electron
Not my kind of entertainer.
please change that horrible thumbnail i'd suggest a frame from around 54:15 , where he reads Sagan and we vaguely see the pale blue dot
Yee olde Cockcroft
We may be traveling a different space-time "road". That is why we do not encounter other life forms that may exist in the universe...?
Cockcroft Rutherford Lecture 2012: Professor Brian Cox. Only prick missing is Dick Dawkins..lol...
The photographer went to sleep I think, because while Brian shows the audience a clip, we see the audience! (instead of the actual clip).
Can't hear what's being said
Unfortunately Prof Cox does not touch on the possibility that the Universe has never been dead, mechanical and devoid of consciousness at any stage. How can super hot plasma effectively cool and clump to form Einstein Walt Disney and Mickey if the whole process is not exactly the same .. but different in scale to … what plasma in fact produced (after nothing more than waiting around for 14 billion years ) ie … egg 🥚 to chicken 🐓 - seed 🍏 to tree 🌲 Schrödinger voices the supreme heresy … consciousness is likely more fundamental than matter. The Universe appears to be organismic. Explode an atom bomb in space and you get plasma and radiation … and that’s it for 14 billion years. Not so Big Bang plasma … living plasma … Cosmic egg/cosmic chicken . The plasma also had enfolded within it entropy/order, space/time (space time may not be fundamental) geometry, mathematical territory, information causality evolutionary unfoldment and relationship , manifested atoms flipping bits when they interact (compute) … The Universe as computer … the four forces (though gravity may not be a force) consciousness, life, expansion Everything that is was and will be was a potential in that plasma. Incredibly. And defying logic , science as currently constitutes would say that that’s nonsense. No one knows what consciousness IS No one knows what life IS No one knows how chemistry became conscious biology. No one knows what 95 % of the Universe is made of No one knows what energy IS Google all of the above if you are sceptical If you listen to militant materialists you would think science has cleared up the mystery and is working on the missing details. A Universe “made” without a single human thought or scientific theory from plasma .. and science has barely a clue about the process of that unfolding towards life … everything around us . Lego particles a Lego brain have produced a LEGO consciousness. This is the current state of science 🧬 that can’t deal with holism … that spiritual hippy stuff The Universe is likely ONE unified field of holonic, holographic, conscious living energy. It’s holons all the way up and all the way down . No wonder science has t got the faintest idea how the dead mechanical Universe produced conscious life …. It’s m assumptions block the above insights The creed of militant materialism/scientism … Amen 🙏🏼 I didn’t mention God once … except just there. And no … God didn’t do it … that is just lazy. Science however just banishes mystery and misses the point … the truth … but just entirely. Can’t anyone in Science question assumptions?
How, oh how, can we talk about the history of science communication and not mention the original creator of “Cosmos”, “Kosmos” by Alexander Von Humboldt? How can we omit the man who invented scientific communication?
Ernest Walton written out of the script?
Thank you! Nice presentation 👍💐
The Alumni! I've heard of them!! I never thought they would be in Manchester, of all places
Gravity AND ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy are linked AND BALANCED opposites ON BALANCE. Consider TIME AND time dilation ON BALANCE. Great. GRAVITY AND TWO DIMENSIONAL SPACE ARE CONSISTENT WITH E=MC2: E=MC2 is taken directly from F=ma. TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual ON/IN BALANCE. The TRANSLUCENT blue sky is manifest as (or consistent with/as) what is BALANCED BODILY/VISUAL EXPERIENCE. Accordingly, ON BALANCE, the TRANSLUCENT blue sky is true/real QUANTUM GRAVITY. THINK!!! ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY AND NECESSARILY proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE). Accordingly, ON BALANCE, the rotation of WHAT IS THE MOON matches it's revolution. Importantly, what is gravity cannot be shielded (or blocked) ON BALANCE. Great. You didn't forget to consider what is the orange AND setting Sun ON BALANCE, did you!!? Magnificent. I have FUNDAMENTALLY and truly revolutionized physics. (Lava is orange, AND it is even blood red.) GREAT !!!! Obviously, carefully and CLEARLY consider what is THE EYE ON BALANCE, as it ALL CLEARLY makes perfect sense ON BALANCE. (BALANCE AND completeness go hand in hand.). Fantastic !!!
