Geometry Script Tutorial - Destructible Wall at Runtime in Unreal Engine 5 | Bool Mesh Operation
We create a destructible wall with geometry scripting. It uses the bool mesh operation on the new generated dynamic mesh actor. We use a blueprint interface for the actor communication to keep our code nice and modular.
This is a good first start into the new geometry scripting tools in runtime.

Handy video. Would be nice to know how to setup "Scalable 3D/2D" for a project that we made already (I think I put maximum settings and I'm not sure how to change that now). Ah well I guess I can google it xD
it works but not everything, ctrl+c/v doesnt work in game text boxes also funcion that save files to the disc giving me error, and mouse roll is inverted ;o
Anyone find it suspicious that 'Gorka Games' came out with a video that looks almost EXACTLY like this one 3 months later, but where he only does an overview and doesn't show the setup?

You are very good at explaining, congratulations, I wish you all the success in the world. Can you tell me why on my machine or on my project colleague's machine the use of Geometry Script is laggy? The lag occurs both when compiling the BP and at the time of HIT, when applying the hit, I don't know how to solve it.
Do not use convex collision generation on the wall. It takes way too long to calculate. Use boxes or complex collision. (Per poly) which is good for massive objects like terrain deformation or something

@@GeneralNovais I see. Geometry script is very performance intensive. The idea of having edible geometry is actually not so commonly found In games. Usually since unreal engine plugins are aimed to suit many uses, it comes at the cost of effectiveness since there’s more implementation for each process. Also depending on what your trying to do, blueprints could have dramatical effect on performance for resource intensive scripts since they go through a Virtual Machine if it isn’t native (converted to c++).
So I followed your tutorial and another one with Ue4,27 HTML5 plugin and right now all seems to work great like my Engine export HMTL5 project and packaging makes 0 errors. The only problem is that when I try my game locally it gets stuck on "Launching engine.." forever. Do you know how to fix that?

Very nice tutorial :) but how do i handle the floating pieces? how to make them fall or desappear if they not conected with the rest of the mesh?
Any way to separate the mesh in to two meshes when it gets cut in half and make two actors of these two meshes?
I didn't see this mentioned anywhere but you need to use the parent class, DynamicMeshActor for runtime edits in live 😊
Please help , I posted game , but there is a white screen only , when I tested game on my PC everything was ok
have you tried going into unreal project settings and setting Anti Aliasing to TemporalAA, try that and see if it works for me it permanently had a black screen whenever i tested it until i changed my AntiAliasing from None to TemporalAA. i have no idea if this will fix your problem, but i hope it will

Hey Erik I’m trying to enable IndexedDB storage on my project but it always say it requires GitHub source. I linked my GitHub account with Unreal and I had also set the source Control but still i can’t enable it. Can someone make me a list of steps to do to enable it?

Hi, thank you for the tutorial, everything worked well, just after packaging , the game won't launch on browser. Got uncaught Error message. Tried empty project, worked well. What can i do?

Hello! One question: we try to use geometry scripting, but when we start progect at satndalone mode - our bp_map with geometry scripting don't appear... Do you know how decide this problem?
This could be work with any version of Unreal?

If i want to have a plane instead of a 3d wall, how do i change it, cant find any append to plane node. Also want to change the projectile to a own mesh instead of the sphere. Any tips would bre great =) From anyonw =) Great vid !

I don’t have HTML 5 options in my packaging options. How do I get that?
"Runtime" might be misleading, yeah it works in realtime in editor play, but I think it doesn't work in runtime in packaged build, because: GeneratedDynamicMeshActor is Editor only... 1:35 tooltip says that it is Editor-Only. Let me know If I'm wrong.

You are correct. Use the parent class, DynamicMeshActor for runtime edits in live.
Hello! Thank you for tutorial. Everything was fine. But I encountered a problem. I can't run project on quest2 because of the error "Missing receipt "myprojectroot/Binaries/Android/myprojectname"target'. file.... All in all ue4 claims some target file that is not built in my project folder. I've read in ue4documentation that UnrealBuildTool helps to build target file. It shoud be located somewhere in ue4 folder(there is no information where is this file exactly is situated). I haven't found it trying to use"cntrl+f". The second error is Missing UE4GameBinary. Ue4 suggests to build the project with IDE. Alternatively to build using UnrealBuildTool with commandline: UE4Game. Here I Inderstood nothing. Please, help me)))

Thank you! Finally got a setup to work. I did need to ADD: "Android SDK Command-line Tools (Lastest) before The Unreal "SetupAndroid.bat" otherwise it didn't find the "sdkmanger.bat" file for me. Other than that, This was PERFECT!

great video! How would we go about changing the material or texture inside the exposed wall?
here is an idea, not sure if it will work... build the inside texture inside the wall material, but it is not shown then when the wall is broken, reveal the inside texture with the mask that responds to the destruction, normal, height change, etc.
Nice work. Do you think we can add a new material or decal applied on the surfaces being hit?
I am not the author, but of course you can, but no need to do that inside the procedural component. Just spawn them normal way along hit normal.
Just saw your video thank you, so my game size if 3GB, I don't think I can reduce it anymore, would I be able to play it on website?
3GB is to much for web games, you have to think about the download times. nobody is gonna wait for 3 gigs to download on the website. you can reduce the texture resolution to save space
@@erikee Thanks for replying, I had an issue I wonder if you faced it too, so when ever I start the game, 1- It's super slow on Firefox and chrome, while on Edge browser very smooth 2- every object in game is black (although didn't use lighting in my game at all and tested even with start template, still results in black objects impossible to see anything except the skybox) Thoughts please?
one question though, would this work simple as that with Virtual Desktop instead?
