Something I've read is that journal-bearing turbos are better suited for long hauls and static RPM and load. Another thing; you could do a single, twin-scroll turbo for i4 or v6 engines and it would be a bit simpler on piping and since you're sizing the turbo "small" compared to race-car guys since you're going for torque and have limited RPM on a boat motor anyway, you shouldn't have to worry about turbo lag or spool. Plus, it'll sound cooler. Another thing you could do is plumb an additional intake from the waterline for water injection, which if you do it right with the right "fineness" of injector, is basically free octane rating. Look up David Vizard for more info.
23p prop are you crazy, if you are doing 43mph at 4500rpm with a 23p prop that engine should have at least 300h. so try a 21p prop and you will get 50mph
wait something doesn't add up. if it made 225 on atmospheric pressure then it should make 500 at around 14.7-15psi of boost. double the pressure, double the air, double the power. maybe a little more boost to deal with air density loss due to heat. but 12? you should be around... ((12+14.7)/14.7)*225 = 408.7 hp tops unless you guys did something else I'm not seeing? IDK check my math or maybe the title means that it's 500hp capable?
You know this makes me want to build two of these and put them on a performance catamaran. Also it would be cool if Honda produce a 500hp turbo performance model since they are the best at building a marine turbo engine, look at the aquatrax f12x and f15x for example they’re awesome and they’re turbocharged.
I think the reason outboards don't go turbo is because of possible use on salt water as highly destructive. Having said that it's not like fresh water and salt water editions for motors aren't already being made so you're spot on that the entire Industry is filled with gas guzzling buffoons going on forever now who have now migrated to the importance of being a 4 stroke gas guzzling buffoon.
Anyone ever think that these college kids doing a project on a shoestring budget might only have a23 ft. Robalo at their disposal? Cut them some slack...
That is a pathetic piece of junk l think it would be faster stock 😂
The Yamaha 250 sho is lighter and better than the Honda and is making 633 horsepower supercharged 😂
That's not good varry slow just a big turd of a motor
I think I lost 200hp
500 HP. 😂😂😂😂😂
So dope what happened!
Nizpro does a supercharger for the 200 , 250 n 300 SHO YAMAHA
Fuck me that was boring as bat shit
There is no way this is running 500ho 😂 nice try but you have spent a whole load of money and hours for nothing
lol. wrong boat! lol
You need to cool the exhaust
Sure as hell picked the right engine. Very impressive. So whatever happened with us great project?

What program did you used to tune it??
Hi guys. How did you were able to tune it
I don't know how you could be so restrained. After the initial successful cruise, I would have been romping on it lol
REMOVE THAT FUCK MUSIC
The damn music sucks 👎we want to hear the motor
Anyone see the boat in the distance stuffing itself twice?
Bryan - what ended up happening with this project?
All that for 43mph....
badass build

Its been a year now ? Its sielent around this engine... what happened
Very Impressive group of guys here
I would buy one. The sound is awesome
Thats sick, another vid please 💪🏻😎🙏🏻
Grear job guys !! Lots of fun work..
That my friends is dam impressive.
Turn the damm music off, fucking kids,we want to hear the engine
Nice but why not put that motor on a 20 foot bass boat ? Ha ha !

Kudos on a fine job guys but please no more music. Also if you want to see some real numbers on a real high performance boat I have one.
TOOL!
What program ecu did you guys use for tuning?

3:28 All that hard work and this is the boat your using it on? LOL!
My bf225 goes over 40mph stock on a 24ft boat just like that one

go AUSTIN
What software was being used to manage the ECU?
Seems like a regular 225 at only 43 mph
Net you should make a jet
It's been months since the video any update on the motor or was it a failure?
What happened to the water jacketed exhaust? Did it ever run WOT?
Anyone ever think that these college kids doing a project on a shoestring budget might only have a23 ft. Robalo at their disposal? Cut them some slack...
If Honda gets into the Marine performance market. Its over!
Top speed is slow my airboat goes 92mph on a 454 aluminum haul
Ye, the music ruined the test! Outboard sound is the music to our ears.
