    I've had my potjie for 34 years, starting in my Greyton W cape holiday house, moving to New Zealand, where I have to use gas. Heretic! Anyway the base of the potjie is smooth as, as Kiwis say. The smell brings back great memories of fires and friends.

    A potjie is NOT meant to be stirred! That may be a great stew, but its NOT a potjie! Sure you can stir the meat when you braise it but once that is done, you layer it being careful NOT to stir! Believe me, the result will be much better! 40 minutes to 1 hour???? Again, a potjie takes about 4-5 hours to cook as the longer you cook it the more tender the meat! Your explanation of the lines and the cleaning of the pot is spot on sir!

      It's a no 3 pot. It's probably the most common size in SA.

      Hey Chris, I’ve just done my service, was a little nervous as there’s a few components, but when I did it, it made sense how everything fits together. A quick visit to Pool Centre, Newton Park in Port Elizabeth, R 550 later for a pair of bellows and a new clutch, and I’m honestly amazed that this Hug Bug has been given a second chance, and I really owe it all to this video, shot man!!!!

    As a matter interest how much does the no 5 poitjie weigh. I inherited one from the 50s. It was made by Falkirk in Scotland. The walls seem thinner than the modern ones. Mine weighs 9 kg with the lid My grandfather had it copper plated and used it for a coal skuttle. I brought it with me to the uk where I still use it

    Hi Chris, I have the strangest situation with my HugBug. I have stripped it down a number of times and replaced old yellow bellows and green flapper tabs. The unit refuses to run and will not even sit on the floor of my pool. It does work but moves very slowly and does not climb the walls of the pool. I have tried and checked everything from suction pressure to blockages to anything else I can think of. Can you suggest anything else I can do to get it working

    The valve is 24v and the sonoff output is 220v. So what you present here definitely is not functional.

    Best video for doing this that I have found. The caliper retraction cost me hours and your trick got the job done. Also, I took the whole assembly apart but in hindsight, I could have not done this as you show in your video. Great video thanks for posting.

      South African! And it's a mash tun. When making beer (or whisky) you soak your grains in a temperature controlled environment for a predetermined amount of time. This allows the starches in the grain to convert to sugars and create the wort that is later boiled with hops and fermented to make beer. th-cam.com/video/PN-NoJyUfHw/w-d-xo.html

    You said you can control it directly from your phone if you don't have a home automation hub. Are you saying that these don't have to go to the cloud? As long as your phone and switch are on the same network? Reason being is that where I want to use this I don't have internet service. But I can put a router in and then use wifi.

      That right, if you are on the same wifi network, and your devices are up to date, there is a lan control option for control without an internet connection.

    If you have a manual switch on the power cable to your light already, do you place the Sonoff on the power side or the light side? Other people need to be able to turn the light off/on when you are not around.

      So you can install it between the plug and light, and then the button on the sonoff can be used to switch it, or you can use a sonoff mini that has a button input.

      Alternatively you can set the default state to "ON" so when it gets power it switches on and then you can control it.

      The hydroponics came out great! But what is important to note is that if you leave things in too long their root systems overtake the system. Since then I've moved and I'm planning a new system. I've also got some purely home automation stuff coming.

    Absolutely spot on! Followed your video to the letter and completed the job, handbrake self adjusts when you apply after fitting the pads so don't worry. I managed to pick up the 3 pin wind back tool which made it easier, fyi, it's the same as the Volkswagen / Audi 3 pin tool. Thanks again!!!

    Thanks for the very informative video. My last service cost me R500 a year ago and now I have the same problem with my Hugbug. It took me about 20 minutes to strip, clean and assemble and its working 100%. Also didn't need any replacement spares,....and working like a charm. Thanks again!!!

    kudos for attemping this - i did a bit more digging around the electronic parking brake system, and learned the turning motion of the piston is required to unwind the drive thread that applies trust which works in tandem with the hydraulic pressure to drive the piston. th-cam.com/video/46KgDEyD0Pc/w-d-xo.html hope this gives a bit more information around your work flow. p.s. you are clamping down on the electronic parking brake motor assembly on the back side of the piston - hope nothing broke!

      That's pretty interesting, makes a lot of sense. I don't think anything broke, the entire assembly in the Nissan seems to be in the caliper so its well protected.

    Why does it say "premium users only" against that device?

      Spotify has 2 options: Free, which contains ad's for Spotify, and Premium which has no ad's.

      I don't believe you need a premium account for this, when does the message appear?

      That's interesting, maybe a premium account is required to stream, I'm not sure.
