That's sickening. They burned a $100 million. Literally makes my stomach hurt.
This is awesome
Thank goodness Hollywood didn’t ruin this classic. Too bad they can’t come up with anything NEW and FRESH! smh.
So you don’t think they came up with anything new or fresh in the 25 years since they attempted this movie?
Shark tale tells us human faces on fish just don’t work 😅
I always call it "Mr Limp Dick"
You also basically summarized the plot of Captain America The First Avenger.
nightmare on elm street with water...... grotesque.....
Incredibly interesting. Just found this because people are sharing the full "Limpet Test" video as a meme and had to know wtf I was watching
The Don Bluth animated sequence in Xanadu set to 'Don't Walk Away' feels like a true Mr Limpet successor. And yeeeeah, that Jim Carrey-Fish looks like it crawled out of a HP Lovecraft story.
Honestly though this is such a stupid movie to remake. It’s like if you re made the computer that wore tennis shoes like it’s so cheesy and stupid, and really is specifically something from the mid to late 60s family films. It’s not like fucking Batman or something cool like that, just leave the first one alone.
From the thumbnail I thought this was about Seaman on Sega Dreamcast lmao.
What in the Jay Jay the Jet plane is this? Thankfully this was never made because this was creepy to the max.
The movie itself was a story about him, they ended it perfectly to pick back up, he was training porpoises and they were getting smarter, go from there, don't remake it.
Part of me wishes this was made out of pure curiosity.
Incredible research!
Thanks a lot. This made my day!
there does not need to be a remake of mr. limpet
Glad the movie wasn't made, it would of bombed. As much as I liked Jim Carrey, his head on a fish body would of made it a scary movie. Hope he returned the money he received for accepting the role. Doubtful, he doesn't appear to be the kind of person too give money back.
Ewww how dare they.quit remaking classics
It reminds me of the Leonard Nimoy fish from the Seaman video game.
I didn't know about this Jim Carrey remake. The test footage looks like nightmare fuel.
I don't know what is worse, this cancelled remake or gaither's pond
I actually wouldn’t mind seeing it if it was finalised
It's remarkable how a single bad decision from the top can lead to a project's destruction. The decision to graft the star's photo-realistic face onto the fish's body, which might have seemed perfectly reasonable from some top executive's chair -- and a decision that, apparently they stuck with through countless directors and countless millions of development funds -- was a total "emperor-has-no-clothes" project killer that nobody was prepared to identity nor let go of. I've seen it -- in fact I've been there -- where the boss comes up with a "great idea" that dooms a project and draft after draft goes by and you just know -- nothing is ever going to save it.
Nightmare fuel!!!
I was born in '64 and Don Knotts was comedy "Icon" by the time I was able to watch him on Andy Griffith. Later on, I knew he did the Disney movies with Tim Conway, etc. But "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" was something I wasn't aware of until the early 1990s. From my memory, the movie wasn't shown on TV, or if it was - not much. I think the concept would be lost on audiences of the 1990s to now. Obviously so. If so many actors and creators walked on the project....there's your proof. Plus, I don't think anybody wants to see Jim Carrey's face, let alone digitally scotch taped to an animated fish.
The full second test was found with audio (th-cam.com/video/ahjTClTCdjs/w-d-xo.html :) and oddly enough, the early cgi shark is more creeper than Jim Carrey's head on a fish Such a bummer the other two attempts didn't go though, those concept arts and storyboards are very neat (Also that Crusty test looks really cool and I love the way he walks)
Haha, the shark is certainly unsettling. I’m so glad that the full test was found. Fingers crossed we’ll also get to see the second Limpet test someday! Thanks for sharing.
Jim Carrey is out of his element trying to fill the... uh... fins of Don Knotts' title character in "The Incredible Mr. Limpet!" Thank the lucky starfish that they kept Carrey out of the water as well! He would have looked sillier than he does in real life!
god that clay sculpt is the stuff of nightmares
I was a Little Girl when The original Movie was made.. ( THE INCREDIBLE MR LIMPET ) Good movie to watch with your Children and Grandchildren ❤
Looks horrible. A shame it never went through. Would have been great schlocky horribly aged 90s b movie fun that I would have liked.
Now I see where the video game Seaman for the Dreamcast got its inspiration from.
Isn’t there also a similar Sega Bass Fishing game
So basically the Jim Carrey remake was cancelled because they made a terrible design. Wow.
I watched it as a young boy. Loved it. The cartoon slant attracted children.
Sorry =Human face it looks to much like Jerry Lewis.
If the remake happened it has to be the guy that played Hiccup ,lady fish S, Gomes or Lindsey L.
100 million on nothing..wtf
So robbed but I would hate it, saw the OG today
Wow this looked... awful. The later incarnations looked a little better relying on strong characterization and art to do the heavy lifting but Im glad it didn't get off the ground
Just uploaded the test footage with sound
That’s amazing. Where did you find it?!
@@greenwheelproductions1171 vfx company's reel from the early 2000s
@@MaynardGKrebs-jx8fl stationx? Which one?
@@greenwheelproductions1171 yup, stationx
I sorta hope a remake of The Incredible Mr Limpet gets made at Warner Bros because the original deserves a lot more love and attention and is an underrated and mostly forgotten film
I 100% agree!
I wouldn't expect much out of the studio that deep-sixed "Coyote vs Acme" & "Batwoman"
God bless karma...🙏♥️
Haha 😅
Jim is an idiot. No one can of play Mr. Limpet but Don Knott's. This is just creepy. Everything Jim did was scary to me. Nothing was ever funny... just like I feel about "the three stooges".
Half of Dreamworks' cancelled movies were like 80% complete before they were shelved. And some I really wanted to see too
Yeah, it’s such a bummer. Me and My Shadow particularly looked amazing. There are some other great cancelled ones.
@greenwheelproductions1171 From the Australian Animal Musical The Movie making fun of both Hollywood and Bollywood with a dash of Indian mythology. And a couple more
@@isaacthemonke233 that one looked really interesting!
Before Will Smith fish, there was Jim Carrey Fish
Haha. Which one would you be less scared to see when swimming?
💀..Ughh..Absolutely NITEMARISH.(YECHH..) Plus, if it is perfect.., leave it alone..!!?..🐟
As they say, Once a original game IP becomes popular and wants a sequel. It will never sees the light of day
100%.
Hey, Just to ask... Where did you get all the concept art and production footage of this unmade film?
Hi! I found a lot of the footage and concept art from finding people who worked on the film’s video reels and portfolios, and I found those via Google.
@@greenwheelproductions1171 Do you have links to those?
@@-null123 here are two links: www.bryantreif.com/about2 th-cam.com/video/OJ_8HUuyD0Y/w-d-xo.html Just about all of the concept art can be found via googling “Mr. Limpet Jim Carey.”
I used to have the original on DVD. But this would’ve been interesting to see what the remake might’ve been. Wished there was some sort of documentary that would go more in-depth. And interviews with some of the animators who worked on it.
If I had the time and resources, I most definitely would’ve done a long-form documentary of this. Thanks for watching!
One of my favorite movies. Thank God they didn’t go thru with this! It’s absolutely horrifying!
Haha.
@snuffytc1..I Agree..!!
"Barney" was a true American classic. 🙏♥️👍💪👊✌️🤟. Don only accepted acting gigs that Andy approved of. Jim also depended on Andy for advice....Jim Neighbors. Andy would never socialize with Jim Carey.
It’s more horrifying that it’s your favorite movie…..
As a kid it was good. Now?? A man... Who wants to F fishes... Ummm that's something else alright.
The first attempt looks very, very freaky, I honestly prefer Bob Camp's subtle design instead of actually putting Carrey's face onto a CGI fish. It reminds me of the dog with the hobo's face in the 70's remake of Body Snatchers. If they were to try again, then I'd say do some changes while at the same time being very respectful towards the original cause I can tell that this means a lot to everyone, that's always the best type of remakes, honoring the original while making it your very own. AND, you gotta make this traditionally hand drawn for the aquatic life and under the sea (especially Limpet himself) while using realistic CGI for the surface of the ocean, so it can better blend the 2D elements for when Limpet talks to his friend on the surface of the ocean. I mean A New Legacy did a fantastic job on utilizing both traditional animation and CGI, I can definitely see this done well with The Incredible Mr. Limpet.
With today's mocap technology and face rigs that can capture all the nuances of the actor's face, a CGI Mr. Limpet would look a hell of a lot better now than 25 years ago!
@joestrike8537 True, I finally saw the leaked test footage, and even though it's from the late 90s, it's still mighty impressive to look at. But... almost everyone doesn't want to see this design, especially in updated mocap visual effects. Sometimes, it's best to stick with what worked in the original movie. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Didnt realize that was a reference in the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror!
