Bringing metal and classical closer together one cover at a time!
First Impressions After One Week With The Yamaha YEV105
I recently purchased the Yamaha YEV105 5-string electric violin. This was a big deal for me! As a classically trained violinist I have stuck with acoustic my ~30 years of playing (including the 26-year old violin in the video).

A cover of a cover. This one wasn't on my to-do list, but with Halloween around the corner I wanted to do something spooky. I went with the 1349 cover because the faster speed works better. O M G the way you feel the melody omg great! would like to hear you performing some of Deathspell Omega
Thank you! Im glad this deep cut got some appreciation. DsO.. one day maybe! I gotta figure out what song would actually work on violin 😆 Their Paracletus stuff seems most likely to be within reach
@@Vileinist Exactly!🔥 some songs of Paracletus are so melodically memorable and tragically beautiful. I've seen your playing and I'm sure you can do that superbly
Duuuuuude.... A W E S O M E ! ! !
Super interesting list! besides Thy Catalfaque and Blood Incantation -which will probably also be on my top list - I never heard of any of the bands you mentioned. So I have some new stuff to check out and remake my list :D. some of my favourites of the year are : better Lovers - Highly Irresponsible (chaotic Hardcore) Panzerfaust - The Suns of Perdition - Chapter IV: To Shadow Zion (Black Metal) 200 stab wounds - Manual Manic Procedures (Death Metal) Rezn - Burden (saxophone avantgarde post metal(?)) Ulcerate - Cutting The Throat Of God (Death/Black Metal)
Awesome! Glad I was able to provide some possibilities for you. I’ll need to check out some of the ones I don’t know from you. 200 Stab Wounds just didn’t have the same bangers for me as their last release. And I always want to fall in love with a new Ulcerate album but truth be told I haven’t been into anything after Vermis 🫤
I wouldn't mind a Symphony and Morbid Angel album.
Imagine if they kept peaking in the 90s and did an S&M album 😍
@@Vileinist Hells yeah. I do think Covenant was easily their best album, though I did enjoy Domination, Alters of Madness, Blessed are the Sick, and Gateways as well.
I agree with you with the exception of Domination, that album is very cringey for me lol. A, B, C and G are each immortalized in their own way.
Hey, yt just show me your video, I'm kinda new to death's music (started listening them like a year and half ago) the video is so cool, hope you find funny someone commented it 10+ years after you made it haha
Haha, this is my most popular cover and it still gets comments from time to time! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts 🙏
Crushed it brother! Such a perfect song. 🔥🤘🤘
Thank you ol’ buddy ol’ pal
bru wth😭
Nice !!
Thank you!
amazing
Thanks!
Toxic Fart Matrix
Fluisteraars and tarnkappe are my favorite Dutch black? Metal
Never heard of Tarnkappe, but since they’re mentioned in the same breath as Fluisteraars I must check them out
@ checkout winterwaker from tarnkappe it’s great
Did you check out the newest Horna album? It's my favorite from this year. It has better production than lots of their stuff, but it's their best writing ever imo.
Hmm I don’t think I did .. thanks, I’ll check it out!
Magnificent. I think your video turned up in my feed, because I keep rewatching the video from Apex Mind with their violin/guitar cover Voice of the Soul from DEATH. I'm glad it did! Subscribed.
They did an amazing job on that cover. Thanks for dropping a comment!
nice psycroptic poster
They’re awesome. Seeing them live again in a few months 🤘🏻
Fluisteraars rules btw.
Can’t wait to hear what they do next
Didn't actually listen to a lot of metal this year but from what i did the best was by far Ὁπλίτης - Παραμαινομένη, which is a one man black metal from China who does songs in ancient greek, truly unique great stuff.
I’m a big fan of his 2023 albums and bought one on vinyl. Somehow I missed the 2024 release, thanks for the note!
@@Vileinist came out right at the beginning of the year, like the second week of january, probably why you missed it. He added a saxophone in this one, it really made things more interesting for me, but i can see people not liking that.
That Bloody Keep album is great! I gave it a full listen, and i'm stuck with that music:D
It's so good! Glad it found you!
Here is my top ten albums of 2024 1. Guardian of the Universe by Oxygen Destroyer 2. Swallowed By Hell by Morbid Saint 3. Asylum by Atrophy 4. Blood on Canvas by Darkness 5. Rebirthless by Accu§er 6. Pro Xristou by Rotting Christ 7. Day of The Zombie Demons by Zombie Ritual 8. Crown of Thorns by The Crown 9. Religious Disease by Disarray (Sweden) 10. Killing For Revenge by Six Feet Under
Nice thanks for sharing! I took a screenshot so I can refer back to this list in the future 🤘🏻
@@Vileinist Awesome! Can't wait to hear your opinion on it ^^
Thrash isn’t my preferred subgenre but Atrophy had some great riffs to keep me engaged during today’s gym workout. 6 ft under and zombie ritual were a pass though… their vocal style puts me off. 6fu did have some good riffs though, seeing them with Nile next month
@@Vileinist Yeah, every genre has its own purpose. I'm glad you enjoyed my list in your own way. And have fun with the concert next month!
Yea I’m making my way through it in stages. Disarray is fantastic. Exactly the same riffing style as Power Trip 🤘🏻
Awesome list man! Nice to see you diversify the channel's content. Definitely gonna have to check that Hail Spirit Noir album. I've noticed that you used to do a lot of Arghoslent and Ares Kingdom covers, so you might like Aurelian and House of Atreus' new albums
Appreciate that, Aurelian is a new one for me so I’ll look into that.
Gatecreeper and Spectral Voice as honorable mentions, nice!
Gatecreeper live is soooo good
@@Vileinist Yeah, they are a really solid band.
Dude, PLEASE try to play “Eat of the Dead” by NILE. Karl Sanders uses a fretless guitar for that track; violin would probably sound so sick
Thanks for the unexpected request! I’ll definitely think it through. Check out my other Nile covers if you haven’t already 🤘🏻
I love to see you in a TechDeath band and rocking baroque-ish riff style with them. Guitar and violin riffing together? Man...🤘🏻😤
Thanks! That would be fun! Too bad I cannot compose to save my life 😆
Finally, TH-cam gets the algorithm right for me.
Hell yes glad it found you 😆
AAAGH THIS SOUNDS SO EVIL OMFG
It makes the song a way more dramatic, darker, totally nailed it, hope to see a full version!!!
Lol! I just saw this! You're awesome 👌 👏 👍
Appreciate it!
How wouldn't I, lad?
BTW, some stradivarius violins sound terrible. Don't waste your money on a popular brand. 1 million+ for namesake. Some were not stored correctly, and the sound is nauseating. Boat owners say, "It's better to know a guy who has a Boat than to own a boat. If you buy a boat you pay the money to afford ten boats". Play some persons stradivarius and do you own thing. BTW, I own a ridiculous amount of guitars. Every one has a unique sound.
Thanks I wasn’t in the market for a Strad but it’s good to know 😆
What is that krrt krrt sound?
I didn’t really notice until you mentioned. The pickup is built into the bridge so that’s the noise of the bow hair making contact with the string. Equivalent of the pick strokes you hear on guitar.
@@Vileinist Does it happen the same way when you use the acoustic violin?
@@hieioni3354it does but you can’t hear it. With acoustic the listener is far away so you’re mostly hearing the sound of the note being projected from the resonating chamber of the violin. With electric the sound is taken from the pickup which is built into the bridge, it’s like having the microphone right there. So it’s amplifying and distorting those bow friction noises in addition to the string vibration. At least that’s my non sound engineer take on it. Do you think it takes away from the experience?
@Vileinist Yes, very much so. I don't want to sound ungrateful for your performance but that noise was a bit annoying.
@@hieioni3354dang well I’ll do some looking into it hopefully there is a way to reduce it
Duuuuude........ 😎 You finally went elektrik. Well done. 🤘 🎻 🤘
Thanks in part to you! I enjoyed the chats we have had. I find that playing with a mute makes the sound tighter. Have you noticed as well? Let me know if you have any tips
🤘🤘🤘... Now do some Vivaldi!
Hmm, I saw that the result of Crystal Mountain on the electric violin is somehow... disappointing. Not as clear as the acoustic one. Strange.
Yea that one could use some more tweaking, it’s a bit too harsh 🤔
@@Vileinist I'm sure you'll figure it out :D
Wtf you can speak!?
🤣🤣🤣
That doesn't come cheap, you know?? 🤔 Now you have to start buying all these lovely but expensive guitar tube amplifiers, cabinets, pedals etc!! Just kidding! 😂 Congrats man!! 🤝🏻
Haha thanks bro! Yea I am already thinking about a pitch shift pedal lol
The Violination
👏 well played
@@Vileinist I coud say the same thing about your playing :D
Sick! Can't wait for violin covers. :)
Soon!!

@@Vileinist yes its true u r talented
Nice! Do you like opera vocals + metal bands? Some recommendations? I wish you "Folterkammer" specially last album.
Thanks! I’ll check them out on bandcamp!
yea
straight fire! this is so good!
Awesome! Appreciate it!
you're awesome (nice tshirt btw)
Thanks! It felt boxy though so I had to cut the sleeves off 🤙🏻
oh my... this solo is great!
Playing this on guitar is already hard, and you play this on violin, thanks for this amazing cover, hope one day some people will make Advanced Corpse Tumour and Fermented Offal Discharge in full orchestra cover, or piano and violin play together ( I didn't know what term to describe that lol) Nevertheless, your cover is insane 🤘
A Necrophagist violin + piano duet would be epic! Thanks for the kind comment 🤘
Dude, you're the GOAT of metal violin. 🤘 🎻 🤘
Thank you my friend 🤘😎🤘
Open the stargate and leave this place forever and forevermore.
All life is sufferinggggg
@@Vileinist Yes, until it gets better.
Awesome
