Watched enough of the planning meeting to see that the real elephant in the room is the deliberate drawdown of 6th-8th grade Hampden students from TWB/GM in the period from 2014 to present. If Hampden had voted yes in 2016, there would still be the issue of overcrowding at WMS that exists now. The limitless transfers with no commitment to a K-8 school at Green Meadows by elimination of any 6-8 Program of Studies in any Hampden School. Choice is now no choice, which was the original 2015-2016 plan. By whatever means, the 6th-8th grades were combined at WMS, now the driving force to disrupt education four district schools: TWB, GM, WMS and MRHS. What would be the consequences of regionalizing Prekindergarten (as recommended by DESE) to 12?What would be the cost in money, time and effort to pursue and implement an Innovations Pathway? More to the point, how are you going to undo the damage done and restore opportunities for academic success for all? You appear to be going in circles and pursuing avenues that detract from solving the problems created by this political maneuvering.
