    I don’t like his description as “someone who has found something more interesting than socializing”….dismissive and oversimplified. I also don’t like the way she calls it a “good one 😃 “.

    Undiagnosing just means the autistic person is masking really well, which in itself is very destructive for us.

    Hi Jessica, many thanks for uploading this video. I agree with Dr. Tony who said that yoga benefits people with autism. Being autistic, I've reaped the benefits of yoga myself. It is also true that practicing yoga can release suppressed emotions which are hard to face for a person with autism. From my experience, certain kind of foods (depending on the person) when taken an hour after a yoga session can help ground the person's released emotions.

    Excellent video! I haven't been diagnosed but I am 99% percent sure I have Aspergers. There is absolutely no research whatsoever on adults with autism in my country....the focus is mainly on children...especially those who would be ASD level 2 or 3.

    Ms. Mcilveen, as a 40 year old man (and an ecologist with 6 years of post-graduate research and education), and (prior to going back to school) a long-time massage & yoga therapist who was recently diagnosed with ASD, I've been watching (and reading) a lot of Dr. Attwood interviews. You--far and away--make the best use of the great resource that is Dr. Attwood! Your questions were insightful and dug far more deeply than any other interviewers I have seen. I am so glad to know that there are kids out there who are benefiting from your wisdom and compassion!

    Part 1 ended too abruptly, just when Tony started to address internet addiction! Please help those of us who have survived the school years & now have anxious young hermits at home. There’s no literature on transitioning after the school years for the majority of kids with ASD who aren’t academic.

  • @josie3674
    @josie3674 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    PLEASE start addressing the needs of these kids once they leave school. We’re saturated with advice on early interventions & are sick of clueless relatives insisting we’ve got the next “The Good Doctor” when in fact the majority of them don’t have high IQ’s. They leave school & retreat to the safety of their bedrooms. Now what? (crickets)

      Yup I know a couple dealing with this now an 18yo that literally will never leave the house just lays around watching videos and has no interest going to school, getting a driver's license, etc. It doesn't help he's 6'5" and frequently has violent meltdowns if you try to redirect him.

    I'm shocked that this video doesn't have more views! Very informative! Absolutely love what Tony was saying about autism and the empathy myth. My partner and I are both on the spectrum and we are also both empaths and care immensely for each other's well-being. There are no miscommunications when it comes to caring when the other is upset because we are very open about whether we are upset and what we may need in the moment.
