Meteor Hammer 流星錘 Tutorial (Intermediate) - Guolao's Lazy Donkey
To be honest, I came up with the name for this move after I filmed this tutorial haha! I've decided on this name because the actual "Guolao Rides Donkey" technique is much harder than this move due to that lead reverse heel shot it features.
The "donkey" is "lazy" in this move, since the hammer or dart is simply tossed behind the body by the anchor hand, instead of via the heel shot.
This is a move I have used for years, and I don't remember seeing it anywhere, which means I most likely made it up. I've made up alot of techniques over my years of doing this. Part of why I love it as much as I do. You can always do something new with it.

Rope Dart 绳镖 - Mt. Konocti
มุมมอง 4028 วันที่ผ่านมา
A lovely Autumn day hike with my friend to the summit of the ancient California volcano, Mount Konocti, on the South shore of Clear Lake. It is very nice this time of year, abundant with old oak trees and walnut orchards. It's a good glimpse of what it is to live in this area as I have all my life. The walk to the peak is rewarded with a 360° view of Lake County and all the surrounding area on ...
Meteor Hammer 流星錘 Tutorial (Beginner-Intermediate) - Hand Shot Combos
มุมมอง 104หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I break down hand shots and combos that can be done with them. These are some of the most practical techniques for the rope dart or meteor hammer, suited to combat with enough practice. This is beginner level stuff but is pretty advanced when done with speed, power and control.
Rope Dart 绳镖 Tutorial (Intermediate) - Mirrored Overlord Wrap
มุมมอง 185หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I break down a variation of the Overlord Sheds Armor wrap I haven't seen anyone do (though perhaps they have and I haven't known of it). It is the same wrap and shot sequence simply done in an inverted order. Hope you enjoy, and more to come!

I didn't think it would be possible to make up new techniques after so long, but that's really cool!
It really is one of the things that makes this particular weapon art so neat. There are boundless potential ways to wrap the body and switch around the order of techniques and mix stuff together. The sky is the limit, it would seem. So it doesn't get boring, that's for sure.
Anthony, how are you doing that?
Practice, practice, and *more* practice!
Very nice! and I like the background.
Thank you. And yes I just love the Autumn colors too.
You are so awesome!!!!
Thank you my friend! 🙏
This is much faster, but it looks similar to the Tai Chi form that Master Wen-Ching Wu does.
I think that was an adaption of the standardized 24 form for the cane. I liked that routine too.
Forgotten the name of the move but an empty knot belt wrap followed by a dragon gives a great catch for inside crescent 360 kicks
Very cool, which summit is this?
Mount Konocti, right by Clear Lake.
The way it seems like you almost get tangled up but not at all is fascinating to me, your skill is very impressive. The scenery is also very beautiful, I enjoy seeing large old oak trees whenever possible.
These weapons truly are like a magician's act, the way they wrap you all up and turns out it all comes undone with the release of a loop... 13 years in and it doesn't cease to amaze me how cool this art is. I remember first starting and just wondering how on Earth some of these moves are even possible. It took me a while to wrap my head around it, let alone actually do it 🤭
So good! Very inspiring!
Thank you so much, and glad I can be of any inspiration. Happy practice to you! Edit- I looked at some of your stuff. You're doing good! Keep up the good work. 😁
Deadly
New follower here, like ur calmness and focus, have u ever hit u face with the whip before?
Thank you so much. And yes I have. Never seriously, but definitely a handful of times that let's just say got my attention.
nice!!
Thank you my friend. 😁
Dude fuck how many times did you hurt yourself learning that ahaha
Oh a time or two lol nothing too bad though 😅
Where can I get one ❤❤
Whips are pretty readily available. This one is a nylon paracord whip. I got it from Amazon years ago. But I would recommend getting them from a reputable maker. It's more reliable. If I were to get another nylon whip I would get it from Nick's Whip Shop. He makes good nylon whips and is easy to look up.
@@WhiteApeMA yeah that's the problem... finding one worth spending on that's made right . Karate Mart is pretty good but they don't have one .
Ok, this is cool.
Bang
How long have you been training with the rope dart/meteor hammer?
Started at 18. 31 now. Going on 13 years. ^_^
@@WhiteApeMA nice you're very skilled how long are your practice sessions
Thank you so much! My practice sessions wax and wane in length and frequency. These days typically somewhere in the hour or two range, sometimes more when I can fit it in. Since I practice other things as well, I try to make time accordingly. But if I only do one thing on any given day, it's gonna be the rope dart or meteor hammer. It's my specialty and what I have done the most by far.
@WhiteApeMA I just started learning the Rope Dart/meteor hammer a few months ago.
That's incredible, really glad to hear it. It's a good time to just get out there and move with it. You can find a wealth of good rope dart content on here now, way more so than 13 years ago. All I had were the old Shaolin videos that have been up for a long time (which are still awesome), and just a small handful of videos otherwise. Nothing much to go on. Now there's all kinds of stuff out there about it. You can really learn to your heart's content. I'm open to requests, too. So if there's anything you want to learn and can't find, I'll try to get a video up about it.
It’s great watching you bro 👏🏻
Thank you, really appreciate that. More to come! ✌
Awesome and great explanation 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much! 😁
Wow, you explained it so well that I went outside and did it on my first try! Haha, in my dreams.
Heh... 🤭
👏👏
Awesome location and great form!
Thank you! Really appreciate that 🙏
Cool
Thank you.
wow what? awesome...
Thank you. This is a combo from Er Lu form. It's basically halfswording for the miao dao.
Beautiful!
Truly was! 😁
Badass.
Thank you!
Kiriko from overwatch knife throws
Pretty! Love this. I am trying this now and can definitely see this incorporated into my flow. Are you going to the Dart Arts Gathering October 10th 2024?
Awesome to hear! 😁 And never heard of the Dart Arts Gathering. What is it?
This is a great presentation. Shot, edited and narrated 💯 Is that Rucker Lake?
Thank you so much! And yes it is. Good eye. Been there some, huh?
Wow, very well done and I really like the nature backdrops!
Thanks amigo!
I remember the ministry of silly walks, but seriously: beautiful movement.
I'm only a little over half a year into throwing. I started no-spin. I feel like all no-spin styles lend their hand to helping understand the movement and needs of the blade, which inadvertently helps strengthen each style. I dabble with skanf, BIM, and bo-shuriken, but those help my accuracy with classic style, which is my preferred style (until i get a holster and start fast draw..) But, to be honest, bo-shuriken is so satisfying. It feels different.
The bo-shuriken throw is the one I'm the worst at out of the throws I did here lol. It is a solid throw but it definitely takes practice and feels different. Skanf is still relatively new to me too. Still moving my arm a bit much as it really is very little arm and all body, and such a quick little motion. It's not just a sidearm throw and it still feels like that for me. So that needs work as well. Classic is my go-to. The throw I've done the most over my ten on-and-off years of throwing. But it's nice to switch it up and branch out some. Skanf would likely be good out of the holster if you got good at it.
@@WhiteApeMA i think your bo-shuriken style is strong. I saw a solid throw here.
Thanks for sharing. I practice throwing with some oversized boshuriken AKA "ninja spikes." I was thinking that up close, they would work like piercers or judges pens.
Very cool
Need to dress like a ninja what about throwing stars?
They're fun. You can't go wrong with something pointed on all sides.
Dex/Arcane build
The video looks pretty decent not too much blur or glare also Shuriken style obviously!
Heck yeah man the Bo Shuriken throw is a cool one. Admittedly I am still not too great with it, but it's alot of fun to throw into the mix in a session. And thanks for letting me know about the quality. Really appreciate it.
The only one that didn't spend was the last one
None of the throws in this video were spin throws. Seems the resolution may have been poor on your end?
I didn't see you do the backhand throw
Well technically the classic throw can be done from any of the angles. So it would just be a variety of that. But yes, it would make for another short. Simply throwing from all the angles.
@@WhiteApeMA I'm just thinking of like how a Shuriken is thrown
Oh well yeah, those can be thrown in almost any way and stick everytime. Can't miss if there's a point on all sides lol
@@WhiteApeMA right but what I mean is throw the knife like you do the shuriken like a snap of the wrist backhanded
Challenge accepted. I'll have to try that in a future video!
keep doing this, this rocks
Thanks! I certainly intend to. 😁
Cool knife throwing, subbed
Thanks so much!
Flip that hair! Haha jk. Dont throw a knife at me
Pokémon trainer customization only gives me so many options... 😪
Bros gonna be an assassin 😭
Haha oh totally. 😅
bro watching you flow with this thing is entrancing
Thank you!
Nice content, I'm practicing with the chain whip , but I'm old and creeky. You Make it look easy.
That's great to hear you're doing chain whip. I love chain whip too. Keep at it you got this!
Ngl, admiring your ability to make a weapon out of anything.
I hardly can pick anything up without thinking of it in a martial way at this point. Every tool, stick, item of any kind, it's funny.
@@WhiteApeMA Your life is well on its way to becoming an anime at this point and frankly I approve of it.
Sick thumbnail! and I dig this formula.
Thanks! Definitely gonna be using this format sometimes, especially for stuff like this.
Impressive as always!
Thanks man! 🙏
whoa this one is cool as hell
Thanks! I agree. I have liked doing this one for some time now.
