Hey Dawn, just wanted to say I’ve been noticing your extraordinibility lately
🎉😂🎉
Xander was the only one who could stop Dark Willow
Nice parenting form, Joyce! Liiiiiiittle shaky on the dismount!
The look on Joyce’s face when she asks if Buffy has tried not being a slayer cracks me up.
The ones who aren't seen usually see the most.
3:02 that was definitely the greatest of Xander powers.
2:40 "I'm not crazy" too bad she actually is. In the episode Normal again the truth is revealed... she is just a crazy girl in a loony bin
Definitely not Season1: Welcome to the Hellmouth. Which episode is this? Edit: Season 2, Episode 22.
Joyce finding out in season 2 was a great choice but I wish we had gotten insight in how Xander or Willow's parents thought of all the hellmouth crazy they were involved in .
I watch this scene with the full knowledge that it's gonna wreck me, EVERY SINGLE TIME. ❤
We all need a Xander in our lives
“And the minute you found out you weren’t, you handed the crown without a moments pause. You handed her your power.”
I may not like xander a lot of the time in this series but it's moments like this that shows he's not a bad guy. That he cares. Just showing that he sees dawn the way she needs to be seen. He did have some growth in the series thats for sure.
And they really BLAMED HER for not coming back. Joyce literally told her not to come back and she didn’t. I will never understand how much the other characters criticize her. Joss Whedon really just wanted a pretty girl for his characters to yell at.
🤔... The power of positivity! 🤨 or not. ☺
Anybody knows the title of the soundtrack used for this scene, please ?😊
I came here to prove a friend that I indeed did know perfectly the lines of Buffy in this scene after all these years. I think I'll always be able to act this scene because you change "slayer" with "gay" and that's exactly me in my teens.
When people say that this is a feminist show, I just can't see it. Buffy is not a hero because she is a woman, she is a hero because she is flawed person who has to learn through mistakes and bad experiences and it is the same for the other characters and still tries to do her best in order to save the world and move forward in their lives. See how Xander talk about them without distinction; "The Slayer, The Witch, The Demon, Oz, my friends". I know, if they remake this show; it will suck great time because people today can't understand that being people is more important than being man or woman
I would say some of the feminist stuff is outdated by todays standard, but I disagree about it not having feminist themes. Buffy emphasizes girl power. I do think Buffy is a hero not because she’s a woman but she’s a hero who also happens to be a woman. There’s a difference. Its not about her gender, it’s not what makes her powerful and I think that’s the point. Theres old views of what it means to be a man or woman. Men strong, women sensitive, etc. It’s a lot more complicated than that, but I think this show has instances of those themes. Like with the watchers council for example could be a symbol of the matriarch. They’re always trying to control the slayer and “put her in her place.” Buffy in season 5 has a speech about how others try to put her down because she has power and this bothers them, them including the watchers who try to exert all authority over her. Trying to make her believe she under their thumb. I don’t think it’s a coincidence the council is mostly men that can represent higher ups in real corporations or in government. The watchers in Buffy are basically like the government for the supernatural. In season 2, the episode phases there’s this werewolf hunter guy who consistently demeans Buffy’s and underestimates her abilities because she’s a girl and he says it outright. Or the finale when all the potentials get the slayer powers as Buffy says before there was only one because a bunch of men a long time ago made up that rule and willow is more powerful than all those men combined. I, partly, interpret that as getting rid of old views that say woman are only as powerful as men allow us to be when we have our own choice, our own power. As Buffy says in the finale “I say my power is our power” to the potential girl slayers. Feminism just means equality and there’s an emphasis on women because sexism is a thing, and sexism mostly and typically targets women. I agree that we should all see each other as equally capable as the next person and our gender doesn’t and shouldn’t have to do with our capabilities, but I disagree about the conclusion that feminism doesn’t have to do with that because that’s what feminism means, it’s what it is about. It fights against that harmful stereotypical view that says we should act like this or that because of our gender. And it’s important because these power imbalances exist in our society, in real life, and media like Buffy commentates on that.
It's a pity Nicolas never got to work with Bruce Campbell. He'd be a natural playing Bruces son. Maybe in the evil dead franchise or in anything really. If there's going to be a re-make of the evil dead then we already know who should play a younger version of Ash!
I donnt even know how many Time i sée this scène !!! And since more than 20 years and still thé same feeling !!!
this is so tea!!!!
His power is seeing, so he loses an eye.
The potentials storyline was so dumb
She was wrong for pelting Mom like The way she did. 😮💨
Xander is a true champion and hero 🙌🫶
The rumour is that Joss Whedon wrote this scene by basically replacing 'coming out gay' with 'I'm the slayer', which is why it has effected so many people.
I remember when she left sunnydale and came back and everyone was mad at her making it seem like it was selfish that she left when in reality her mom told her to not come back if she left and at the last moment when willow brought angels soul back Buffy had to kill the love of her life to save the world from acathla. She was selfless
to see this innocent moment then the original comics canon that followed this Xander began clapping dawn's cheeks... at least they didn't do anything crazy like having xander getting his cheeks clapped by spike
Xander spreaded dawn in the comics?
@@flyguy1827 yeah the official comics produced by whedon, the new ay xander seems like fanfic tho
He definitely was the heart of this group and not only kept Buffy alive several critical times and stopped Willow when no one else could. Without him…and he both (eventually) recognised this and that his supportive role was essential but that his role was also from the shadows.
The only part is the one when Joyce buffys mom gets told the truth and talk about being a dumbass blonde. It was like watching paint dry telling her over and over and over etc .. and still not gettin it. I know it's a script but damn. Really.🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
best scene.
“Maybe that’s your super power. Seeing.” >Next Episode: Xander loses his eye.
And then in the comics, Xander and Dawn get married and have kids. No seriously.
This is one of my favorite moments from the last season. Both Xander and Dawn are extraordinary. And I think they were both destined to be Watchers but Watchers that cared for their Slayers. They would be awesome Watchers.
I really like Zander he made me think about my best friend
My adoptive MoM did the same thing to me because we didn’t see eye to eye with things. I never forget when she told me the same line don’t come back if you leave. And that was best decision for me ever. #freedom
"Just have another drink" is such a good line. Buffy is the main character and we see her as such, but in reality, she's still just a teenager, SMG's delivery makes that line SOUND like something a teenager would say, its something she's heard an adult say on TV in a scene that would end after the character walks away, but in real life (As much as "real life" is in this show) that's a SUPER condescending thing to say to someone who is just trying to figure out the situation. You can even see the surprise on Buffy's face when Joyce throws the glass in anger and she isn't just allowed to walk out of the house with the final word. This show did stuff like this every once in awhile and it was awesome.
It was a great scene. And it showed Buffy that Joyce has been holding a lot in as well.
2:59 WHATEVER
Powerful scene
The acting was amazing. Still hits hard after all these years.
Which episode is this scene from?
Reminded me of the episode where she finds her mother dead. That was a rough one.
You're not special. You're extraordinary
In times like this, it's old little shows like this that shows perfectly what a real man is. He is gentle, compassionate, observant, and isn't afraid to point out the special little moments that everyone else might overlook. It was a very nurturing thing to do. Men can be nurturing. This is a perfect example of what a man can be, without having to be muscle-bound, or the "lead character", as it were. Sometimes, subtlety and just getting things done in the background and being a quite strength for others has a strength all on it's own. This was a beautiful scene, and one I had forgotten about. Sad that writing like this doesn't happen anymore. We need it more than ever right now.
Scream Queen 👑 No No No! I ain't gonna agree with this either, And I don't care what you say, But This Line is So forced I hate it, Plus it Doesn't make any damn sense.... If Xander was such an asshole that he told Buffy "I look at you, And I feel sick 🤢 cause you had sex with that; Why would she just forgive him so they could be friends again? And if he told Dawn (And I don't know who the hell wrote this) But when Dawn mentions Spike; Xander goes " No he's to busy trying to rape your sister.... Thinking he's the good guy cause he told her that; Um No! Wrong! That doesn't earn him some endearing moment talking to Dawn where she says, "Well maybe 🤔 that's your power, Seeing.... Knowing... Yeah well maybe it is.... Um no! Wrong.... They wouldn't have that Endearing moment just because they wanted 2 cover up what they did in Season 6, Do you see 🙈 why I hate Xander so much? Do you understand why I hate this show so much? Cause I think I made my point blatantly clear
And, yet, her mere existence is a magical one. She's the key.
Imagine being Joyce or just the parent of someone like Buffy. How is she supposed to react? There's nothing normal about Buffy's existence. None of it makes any sense to a normal parent. It's amazing she didn't react more harshly sooner.
Is anybody else in love with SMG? Show of hands . . . 🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️
🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️🖐️ Love this. Always...it's amazing to find out things about the show and behind the scenes.. everybody says he was nice and amazing and she was always there for the guest stars. If I remember correctly somebody said that she actually had stopped at production because we're standing was cold and they gave her a blanket and some heaters to warm her up for a minute or two. And hear her talk about her new show and the way she's trying to be there for everybody. However she can within her power.
The fact that these two are married in the comics! Makes me FKN SICK!
