#124 - "Masters of the 5-String Banjo" Revisited! Feat. Tony Trischka & Pete Wernick
I already know this will be my favorite episode, they don’t make better men than Jens or banjo players!!
Yes, opens with Spanish Flea on the banjo!!
What a treat! I aways enjoyed his picking and his demeanor on stage. Thank you for this conversation with him. He was a special musician and gentleman.
Officially my current favorite banjo player.........................
Wonderful stuff 🪕
Delightful
Can’t stop now lick sounds very much like Bill Keith’s Beating Around the Bush.
I had to laugh. Lloyd: "I was not even very good (at jazz) on guitar to be honest, but I played guitar in some jazz bands in high school and college..." Just so you know, Lloyd was the Michigan All-State jazz guitarist, and was the guitarist in CMU's Jazz Lab 1 - one of the top college jazz bands in the country. You're too modest, Lloyd!!!! Regardless of type of music, Lloyd is one of the best guitarists I've ever heard.
Haha that's perfect.
Very good interview Keith thanks!! Randy is a joy to listen to
I appreciate you listening and the feedback!
I like this Guys picking.
Sorry he's playing in heaven 😊
I love jim😊

I to have the smokin amp co autowah. I’m inspired to get mine to the same sound as yours. Mine sounds like a budget Jerry wah haha
I live in mid-Massachusetts, and I've taken one-one banjo lessons with Gabe at his home. He charges a fair fee. And he's a great instructor. 😊
RIP Jim.
RIP Jimmy
Celebrating Jim's legacy today. This was such a wonderful conversation with him. Really captured the essence of who he was. Thank you!
Rest in Peace Jim. You were one of my son's heroes! We were planning to visit you this summer. So sad. It was so hard to call and tell him of your passing. He's only 13. You will be missed.
RIP Jim Mills. A true gentleman. May 5, 2024.
I’ll comment: Riley Baugus is amazing and was very gracious when we talked with him after seeing him and Dirk Powell play a show. I hope to have a chance to play one of his banjos someday.
Nice😊
Such a great guy & excellent banjo player!

R.I.P. Ben. You were a true legend!

$500 down… on a $359 banjo.

Best banjo man is Humphrey Higbe from Union, South Carolina. He was playing on the roadside about 100 yards from the Circle K.
If there's such thing as a banjo idol, it would be wild jimbo!
