Centering Equity in the CLNA Process: Identifying Root Cause(s)
In the first of several webinars in 2024 and 2025 that are focusing on the comprehensive local-needs assessment (CLNA), this webinar goes in depth on what an equity-centered CLNA process entails. Led by Dr. Gianina Baker, the session reveals why an equity-centered process is crucial for institutions as they contemplate equity gaps and their root causes, with the goal of assisting all student populations.
Dr. Baker starts the webinar by discussing a 2019 publication titled "An Equity-Centered, Comprehensive Local-Needs Assessment," which was co-produced by OCCRL and the Illinois Community College Board. In addition, she shows clips from a 2019 OCCRL webinar, "Systemic Equity, Racial Equity, and the CLNA," which was led by OCCRL alumni AJ Welton, Francena Turner, Angel Velez, and Marci Rockey.
