It is said, but true. We all knew it was coming someday, but we weren't prepared when it really did. Donate to the Conservancy here: www.ssusc.org/donate They have plans to make a land-based museum to the ship near where she will be sunk Florida. #ssunitedstates #oceanliner #oceanliners

extremely rare ship in WoWs. Best at tier 3, hasn't been on sale since August 2017. Managed to snag her from some Jutland containers, and I love her so much. Game: worldofwarships.com/ Music: th-cam.com/video/85fIZbOhR0o/w-d-xo.html Join my Discord server: discord.gg/x98ZmFgarX/

nicely done. music was nice as usual and loved the different angles 😃
Congratulations, that’s huge!❤
This is one of your best music videos so far
Why donate to SSUSC since it will be gone by 10-15 years. SSUSC is donor fraud.
Saw this ship practically everyday in Norfolk as it was tied up to a pier not far from where my ship was berthed when in port.
NOT THE QUEEN OF SPEED
Sad news. But being turned into a reef that will be full of life is definitely better than being scrapped for parts. But it's definitely upsetting it's not being restored into a museum ship.
wow that ship was really cruising
Very cool that you're fact checking yourself - most professional journalists don't even do that
From Deb Sims…I sailed on her from Southampton, England to New York at age 15 in 1966. She was glorious. The first sight of her docked in Southampton was breathtaking! The elegant color scheme. The beautiful leaning back two red stacks made her look like she had to be held back from racing across the Atlantic & she was the fastest ever. It sickens me to see that national treasure in this condition. She should have been the lady brought back to life, not the Queen Mary. R.I.P. SSUS.
Peak
The SSUS was already a done deal when she was stripped of everything. Sad, but so true. Four US Presidents, and not one offered. 360 million people in the USA, and not even 1% of the population could donate $5.00 to save her. Time for her to rest.
Brought tears to my eyes as my favorite liner well done ❤my grandfather served on her
Beautiful tribute, but I should point out that she didn't get to Philly until 1996. From 1993-1996 she was being stripped in Europe. Before that, she still looked mostly intact, as seen from nearly 4 hours of footage, recorded onto VHS in 1991. The footage is on TH-cam, and has been cleaned up as best as it can be.
The first dumb move: Stripping the ship.
@1940limited I agree. But if the interior had to be stripped because of asbestos, how does the Queen Mary still have her interior? There are asbestos sheets behind the wood paneling all over the ship. I'm sure Rotterdam (1959) and QE2 (1969) were/are the same way.
Ah, my mistake. Should've caught that
@@jdslyman1720 My contention is the interior did not have to be stripped. Nor should all the furnishings have been sold off. What a shame it wasn't kept inact.
@1940limited Looking at the 1991 survey, you would think that she could be used again, with some repairs here and there. While there are working lights in there today, they are not hers. The footage showed the ship's own lights working, humming transformer cabinets, and active ventilation machinery. That was all removed and disabled a couple years later.
Where is she going?
Possibly Florida to be sunk as an artificial reef, near the USS Oriskany.
It's very likely she will be reefed off of Florida
@@geographyRyan :(
Appears to be a done deal that she is to be sunk in 180ft of water off Florida in the Gulf of Mexico.
Excellent comment!
Beautiful tribute, but remember that the deal with Florida might fall through at ANY point. Deals that don’t work out for the ship is a staple of her career.
Yes, but this is the closest she's come to actually having a plan go through. Still hoping they can save her, of course
To hell with the FL deal. Put it the naval museum.
@@1940limitedfr
@@BradyT-gg5 Or even have her go back to New York. The Conservancy had a plan with a realty company to refurbish and use the ship as a stationary attraction a la Queen Mary, but something happened with it or someone balked at the price tag again.
What a disappointment as a country, we can fund war and blow our funds on a bunch of other random meaningless shit Yet an ocean liner that holds our namesake and is the world’s fastest ocean liner sink into the abyss, we already let the SS America rot away on a beach, and now the SS United States, how shameful
What a terrible waste of a piece of history. So much could have been done with this beautiful ship. Shameful
I'm from the great lakes area they have some museum ships they didn't gut them they left as much as they could safely the asbestos was removed maybe if they wouldn't have gut it out it would be easier to safe
This came out REALLY good

How many ships had theses rapid fire guns? The three Des Moines class cruisers did but were there other classes cruiser?
Nope, only the Des Moines trio :)
@@geographyRyan thanks 👍
Yikes. 10rds a minute times 9 8in guns? That's one scary machine. Holy Toledo.
I was in the army in the early 80s 3rd/bn6th FA I wish we had some of the case shells the but they would have been heavy as hell .when you think about it .I mean the 8 inch she'll weight was 200lb.
