I hand craft useful and artful leather items. I want to learn as much as I can about leatherworking, from both now and it's rich history. I tend to learn through sharing and that is the purpose here. I will share tips, tricks, techniques, and the joy of it all. From the simple to the unique, we will learn together. In the interest of honesty and inclusion, you will see my successes AND my failures. You will laugh and you will cry and, hopefully, you will learn something new.
In this massive world of automation, some things are simply much more intriguing when they are done by hand and this is my secondary intent with this channel... to get you excited about doing and making for yourself and not only leatherwork. I will share other skills like lasers and wood burning and plenty more as those skill pertain to leather craft.
I hope you enjoy learning new things as much as I do!

The Secret Life of Leather: Unveiling a Hidden World of Positive Mental Health
This is my story. I've been using leatherworking to give ADHD a place to go and to help delete depression. It's been almost six years now, and I'm a little better and much more positive with my outlook on life in general. It always helps me when I have an external thing to focus on. It's an even better bonus when you can hold up a thing and say "Look what I made!"
Also it's a test of AI video: invideo.ai, and AI scripting: ChatGPT, heavily edited by myself to closer resemble my style.

New Swamp Cooler for better leather working
มุมมอง 562 หลายเดือนก่อน
I do my leatherworking in the garage. It doesn't have great airflow unless I just 'open the wall' (put up the garage door). But, when it's too hot, maybe over about 92° or so, the leather gets weird to work with. Our swamp cooler died just before our hottest few weeks. I use a fan to blow the cool air from the rest of the house through the door into the garage. Without that, my garage was getti...

To be fair, this is barely a storm in my opinion. If it were a real storm, at least a few of those trees wouldn't be standing anymore.

Leatherworking 101: Types of Leather and Essential Tools
มุมมอง 10110 หลายเดือนก่อน
The basic tools preferred when starting off in leather crafting. I say preferred because I heard of a guy who started off with a basic wood handled carpenter's hammer and a sharpened fork and a pair of purchased needles. What I did not mention in the video is the importance of a pattern. Some things are simple enough but if you have any rounded corners or overlapped layers, a pattern will help ...

Update Edit I'm letting y'all see this one. It's maybe 10 minutes longer than it needs to be. It's an example of what NOT to do filming yourself working, LOL. Anyway, I'm having desktop video issues and my intention is to make a new video for this project now. It may be a few days as I have a new project unfolding. The view is too far away and it's hard to see what I'm doing with all of it bein...
The Zen of Hand Crafting: A Journey to Inner Peace
มุมมอง 5311 หลายเดือนก่อน
As a leather crafter, I can attest to this and that's why I made this video. Any handcrafting can be pure medicine and easily be quite blissful if you engage with it and your inner self enough. I hope you enjoy this! This video was made with the help of invideo ai and Bard. The thumbnail was made with leonardo ai.

what is preset for metal business card
I don't know the numbers. It's what was in the preset in xTool Creative Space.
Price
Nice
Do you by chance have the link to the pdf file?
There is not one. Tony will release it and more holiday patterns closer to Christmas.
If you look in the programmed settings you are able to find what power and mms would really help . Thank you
That was painful to watch. Do you not clean it off?
@UrallaCustoms I suppose, if you knew it all, you would have some thing of your own to share from your channel that just joined today? No? Anything constructive?
Settings? Or do we just have to sit and watch the entire thing ?
As in the title.... it is the preset settings that came with the program.
Peaceful sounds of rain after the storm.
Thank you for posting this. I still have the pattern from ages ago but couldn't recall the order of steps. For some reason Tony's original video is no longer available so this was super helpful.
This is definitely on my wish list!
Thankyou very much, I have that pattern and wanted to check how to put it together. 😄
Спасибо большое. Приятно наблюдать работу профессионала.
Where can I get this pattern?
It's not currently available. Keep an eye on dieselpunkro leather-patterns.com
There was no lens cleaning in the lens cleaning video.
Sorry, must have blacked out while I was cleaning the lense. Yeah, It moved out of screen a little. Still new at this, even now...

It seems to not be on his Etsy page anymore. His shop is here: www.etsy.com/shop/DieselpunkRo
WOW
What were you settings for the 2ow?
I don't know exactly. It was the XCS metal business card preset.
How long did this take?
5 minutes
Speeds and power?
It's the preset in XCS. I don't know the numbers.
Thank you for this!
These videos are always a joy to watch! Both entertaining and satisfying to watch aswell.
Thank you
What speed and power do you use
It's the preset in XCS for metal business card. Power 50% and Speed 180mm/s.
Just one pass?
Yes. One pass.
Where 2 buy these blank cards. Hook me up with link please. Love your idea. Thanks and many blessings

How many mm/s will the 20W cut 3mm baltic birch plywood? I've seen people say 6mm with 3 passes at 500mm/s.
I have not tested it beyond this 3mm. According to xTool, the 20w "can cut 10mm of basswood in only one pass".
How thick was the leather ?
About 2oz, a tad under 1mm
Wow. That air assist seems to make a big difference. Thank you for making this video for me!
No worries at all! Oh it makes a massive difference! I'll be doing more of these and will certainly film the armor making.
What weight of leather is that?
This is about 2oz. I just got some numbers for 5-9oz. Hopefully a video on that in the next few days.
I did a quick video for you on the 9oz. th-cam.com/video/yGXhGzZ25N0/w-d-xo.html
Everyone I've spoken to says chrome tan gives off nasty chemical smoke. What did you notice as you did this?
It stank but wasn't too bad smoke wise. This was slightly oily almost. Also, this one didn't have the air assist hooked up yet. Vegtan just smells like burning hair. I do think if I was going to do more than just a little bit of cutting on chrome tan, I would want an exhaust fan. I'm in a garage with only one small air vent near the furnace and no windows.
Thank you for showing real time laser engraving / burning and cutting. I know many might say it is boring, but many of us really want to see in real time what is possible.
You're welcome. I bore myself, lol. I am primarily a leather guy but I will be doing more of these. Thanks for letting me and my newish channel know!
@@peaceofleather I want to do leather as well. I have some 2 - 3 oz veg tan leather. My wife wants to use it to make some earrings as well. I'll check your videos to see if you have any like that.
Air Assist will help with the cutting and the scorching around the edges.
I have one. Got it all together but it is now set up and working great. More to come!
Thanks for the upload. Your video is in real time? It takes approximately 10 minutes to engrave 2 business cards?
Yes, I've been doing two at a time since this one. I include them with my leatherwork now.
@@peaceofleather Thanks for your rapid response. I have been watching another 2 videos you've uploaded and noticed you got the engraving time down to approximately 7 minutes instead of 10 minutes per card. Instead of 6 cards per hour you get 9. This gives me a idea how long it takes, of course depending on the design.
Thank you for showing this. It is simple enough, but so much easier seeing it than reading it.🤗
Thanks for the boost of confidence!
Looks like Atezr just dropped a new 35 watt unit. Maybe that's why the P20 is on backorder. I wonder who will be next with a 35 or 40 watt unit
Seems xTool is up in a few days to announce their 40watt!
LOL love how you end with, I know its boring. 😂 well no its not! I find it really interesting, thank you for the video!
Thank you!
LIKE 👍👍 👍👍 👍👍 👍 💕 💕 💕 💕 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I have a D1 20w coming and will be interested in seeing the difference on leather with and without air assist.
I look forward to more of your leather and laser videos. Definitely look into Lightburn.
I started many years ago with a Versalaser that used CorelDraw. At the moment I use a combination of things that get imported to XCS and saved. I currently don't need major software because the majority of the laser usage will simply be 'etching'.
it looks amazing
I know of a machine that makes that go faster....
That video is coming up! But I'm more interested in quality than speed.... it's my zen! At least until I'm making cloaks and trench coats.
WOW!!! That is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
