Just getting some work done on the lathe. this took me 24 minutes real time. I'm using a Carter and sons 5/8 bowl gouge with a 40/40 grind and a hurricane woodturning bowl gouge with a 60 degree grind.

A friend of mine wanted me to make him a turkey call pot and striker. This is the process I use to make them. I get alot of information from other wood turners and I hope this helps other wood turners with their ideas.

I've not seen channels notched into the tone board pedestal before, mind sharing the purpose of that notch?

It allows the sound to escape from center of sound board. Like any fine musical instrument

I purchase the slate through Amazon and the sound board as well. Other than that I just measure the slate thickness and diameter to get the dimensions I need. Just remember to drill your holes before you turn them.

Nice turn! I left a few constructive comments for you in the woodturningbasics FB group. I enjoy watching either new turners or new teachers record and post their videos, you did some great stuff. The project turned out awesome and I can say I am extremely jealous of your lathe :) ...thanks for posting ...and please keep posting your vids on our group facebook.com/groups/woodturningbasics
