Particularly verses 2, 13-14, and 21-26 of Psalm 73. Dan makes some good points. i.e. Distractions are useful. Also refers to our desire to return to Egypt, (enslaved by sin), when things seem so desolated in the wilderness we live in. I hope Dan said to recall we are only passing thru and focus on our Heavenly Home. Also 'Eyewitness' series at REDEEM TV has a nice explainer of the 'Vine and the branches'. The Bible doesn't mention it, but the branches also produce leaves. Leaves may represent the 'distractions' but those at times require 'pruning' to get the optimum 'balance' of fruit and leaves. Psalm 73 A psalm of Asaph. 1Truly God is good to Israel, to those whose hearts are pure. 2But as for me, I almost lost my footing. My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone. 3For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. 4They seem to live such painless lives; their bodies are so healthy and strong. 5They don’t have troubles like other people; they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else. 6They wear pride like a jeweled necklace and clothe themselves with cruelty. 7These fat cats have everything their hearts could ever wish for! 8They scoff and speak only evil; in their pride they seek to crush others. 9They boast against the very heavens, and their words strut throughout the earth. 10And so the people are dismayed and confused, drinking in all their words. 11“What does God know?” they ask. “Does the Most High even know what’s happening?” 12Look at these wicked people- enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply. 13Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep myself innocent for no reason? 14I get nothing but trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain. 15If I had really spoken this way to others, I would have been a traitor to your people. 16So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper. But what a difficult task it is! 17Then I went into your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked. 18Truly, you put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction. 19In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors. 20When you arise, O Lord, you will laugh at their silly ideas as a person laughs at dreams in the morning. 21Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside. 22I was so foolish and ignorant- I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you. 23Yet I still belong to you; you hold my right hand. 24You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. 25Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. 26My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. 27Those who desert him will perish, for you destroy those who abandon you. 28But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do. Holy Bible, New Living Translation, copyright © 1996, 2004, 2015 by Tyndale House Foundation. Ephesians 4:26-27>>>26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil.>>>I like to think the ancient philosophers 'adopted' Holy Writ in their works and ask from where in the OT is Aristotelian admonish derived 'Be angry to the proper degree at the proper time with the proper object in mind'? Paraphrase is mine. This subject needs much more investigation and discussion. Aristotle supposedly did comment that only the 'fool' was incapable of 'being emotionally stable'. Perhaps the relationship of Saul and David need to be 'elaborated'.??!!

Too little too late?! Everyone in 'charge' is aware of the 'changes' in the nuclear family over the last 75 years. It is helpful that some families continue according to Bible principles. But!!!!!Keep in mind the 'failure' of what 'churches' have been 'teaching' or not 'teaching' may be a contributing factor to arriving at todays malaise amongst 'church' people, politicians, The Elite, The Hoi Polloi, The Proper folk, The Well Bred, The Bleeding Hearts and on and on. AG folks can we see fulfilment of this Scripture>>Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. >>>PS>>What and how is God working His Work?

Mike, really sorry to hear about Whitney and it made me cry. There is the comfort in knowing you will see her again. This may be not so easy if you ever read this. 1 Corinthians 11:27-30 was possibly misunderstood by all of you. I have led a most sinful life and most of my recollections are of how far I am from doing the 'right' thing. You folks who have led lives replete with exemplary deeds might possibly look on yourselves as having 'lived' a 'good' life. The communions Whitney celebrated may possibly have been looked upon with some 'disdain' by our Savior or possibly this was grieving the Holy Spirit. I am not trying to be meanspirited in saying this as I truly feel sorrow that such a wonderful complement to the AG fellowship was taken from all so early.

  • @clifr383

Blessings for Greg and family. But God knows our hearts. 1 Corinthians 11:27-30 is where we all need to focus. Maybe more so for those whose lives seem to be replete with exemplary deeds as us 'big' sinners have only sinful 'recollections'. We 'big' sinners are always looking back at all we have done wrong! Just a thought, but possibly valid.

Accidentally erased my complete comment so again. Have not watched the video yet and want to comment before doing so. 1995 at a pond in Marquette Park on Chicago's southside I was watching a gaggle of geese when a young woman approached and asked, with a definite sense of trepidation in her voice, if I was actually from California , as she had looked at the plates on my car. I barely had time to respond and she was off in a flash. This was not the first encounter of this type and I wonder how many people live in that state of high anxiety. I recall a couple of young men and one young woman I knew in California who were of a similar nature, but were at least able to somewhat socialize with me. So What?! Not just Covid, but for some a state of anxiety and possibly isolation is the 'norm'. PS possibly another young woman in Chicago who ended up commiting suicide. Anxiety in her case was not as evident.
