I'm got a whole lot more the dyslexia then 😭
I'm 18.....My whole life I struggled because of my Dyslexia, I hated it, I despised it, all I saw and felt was pain and hardly any love and happieness. I only met ONE teacher who actually cared in 5th and 6th grade. Mr.Downey. he tried and tried, he taught me step by step and helped reminded me. Math class? Became my favorite class. He was like a grandfather to me, both school years I had him and I was so happy. I was thw first to finish, had most if not ALL questions correct. He would somtimes help me with other school work from my other classes and soon. I learned that my dyslexia....Was no curse but a gift. I learned thaat thanks to watching special videos like this and ones where someone demistrated in great detail that dyslexia is a gift. I still carry the truama and the pain of what I experinced from my schools and family but I'm greatful to know that I am not alone, that I had a wonderful teacher who helped me FINALLY understand basic math and to master my skills. To my fellow dyslexics, everything will be ok. You CAN do it, DON'T listen to the vemon and toxic LIES society tried to enforce onto you. You can do it, you can make it. Even if all hope seems lost, keep. Going. In the end, you will look back and have zero regret for not giving up.
Great Perspective. Thank you.
Yes its a memory issue but your post was to short. Please elaborate more on the solutions to help the "memory" problems in dyslexics. I want to hear more.
I never knew about dyslexia until I was in college
When you get told everyday that you are lazy, don't try hard enough. You will never amout to anything, why do you want to do it that way. It's no wonder that we, with dyslexia get depressed. Im in my 50s and am on a mental pension because of it.
I think I got my dyslexia from my great grandpa because I remember hearing stories that he didn't know how to read
lol good read imo
Some people just simply are never going to be the academic even this bloke thinks EVERYONE can be these things are NOT natural they are human construction of purpose and we quite literally and simply never going to be what he thinks we can be He's as bad as the evil teachers that battered us for ten frekin year's trying to break our spirit and beat new form out of the unmoderble
I am in my 50s my mental health is totally wrecked II got diagnosed in my 50s I had no help with dyslexia all my life. The UK education system is not fit for purpose.
It definitely affected my mental health back when I was a child I felt like I was stupid because I struggle with reading and writing and I would get so frustrated with myself I would tell myself why you can't get this shit
My problem is with math I have gaps in my math skills
@@kimholcomb6943 do you have Dyscalculia?
The one I always get “colour overlays”, can we just STOP calling Irlen syndrome “visual dyslexia” it’s infuriating and completely inaccurate.
i was given detention, due to my erratic handwriting, i was acused of other people doing it for me. i never did homework for school again
I hear you on the handwriting . That caused me so much grief.
So dyslexia leads to anti-social personality disorder, I presume. I wonder why all the other children laughs at the poor child who can't read. Are the traumas of reading- and writing problems just as severe as being sexually abused, or even greater?
That's a good question
😅 don't worry everything is temporary
In school, people often praised my intelligence, but I didn't believe them because my grades were terrible, especially when it came to grammar and reading comprehension. It got to the point where I would cheat on reading assignments rather than trying to read the books themselves. I was seen as "bright but lazy", and when I tried asking for help, I was ignored. I ended up dropping out of school when I was old enough because it caused me too much stress. I wasn't diagnosed with dyslexia until I was an adult. Not only do I struggle with reading, I struggle with differentiating sounds, sequencing, directions, etc.
dude i'm almost 30 and still hit these points
Thank you thank you thank you for sending this message. It's exactly what i went through as a child. It was only after getting a smart phone at the age of 30 that I was able to start communicating by reading and writing. Being able to talk into my phone also the spell check making it much easier to choose the right word. Still can't totally read a book properly. I feel better about my self with the progress I have achieved.. keep up the great work.
I am going through this with my child at the moment. It is absolutely heartbreaking.
If they can identify a realistic goal that reading and writing (typing) skills are necessary for it can help them to LEARN AT THEIR OWN PACE WITH PATIENCE FOR THEIR SELVES, SO THEY DO NOT GIVE UP ON INVESTING IN THEIR OWN DEVELOPMENT. The teachers only need to deal with them for one year and they can easily give up on them and otherwise discourage their potential.
Yes! Quit highschool middle of softmore year short of credits. I still feel like I can't do normal stuff other people do. I have to get people to do a lot of my paperwork at times!
Great Video My Friend named Josiah is having problems
True ..I dropped out in grade 9
So what did you do for a job?
@@kimholcomb6943 enough ,that I forgot how many jobs I actually had , mainly keep close to meat cutter, Silver culture an i’m mechanically inclined and I’ve normally proven my employers expectations and beyond, I’ve had many great opportunities probably more than most people would have in five live times ,but my “Dumbass”let substance-abuse destroy everything valuable I’ve had the last 20 years . But why u as ? U hiring? I will relocate, at ur expense off course. Hahaha
I have dis lex ai and Im in 5graed and I have a 4grad reading level
How’s it going
This was me, but some how I learnt to read at 13yrs old with no help. Now that I'm at work I feel the same way as I did when I was in school. I'm so behind everyone else, some of them look down at me. I'm now 34 and still have trouble spelling and am really slow in the intake. I was humiliated all the time at school but somehow I always kept going. I never got any help while in school, I've gone back to uni not long ago and was finally diagnosed with dyslexia, now I know for sure I'm not stupid. WW just just think differently, we're not stupid.
🏴 Scottish Schools = 1970s The pink Group ( 6 girls and 2 boys) for the dyslexic children . Being a boy in the pink Group was made to Humiliate you…deliberately 🏴😞 Scottish Education = Mental illness…
I am 67yo and found out a few months ago my little issue is dyslexia. At school, I was told I was lazy and "doesn't try hard enough" but the ultimate pain and humiliation were being made to repeat 2 years of school - that pain and humiliation I still carry today.
I fully understand you 😞🏴😎
I'm 50, tested in high school for "some forms of dyslexia" they basically put me in special Ed and was mostly the unpaid teachers aid?..Did not help me AT ALL
Your my senior 😅
This happens a lot in the indigenous community who's been called African-Americans I know this too well because I was passed up and passed on only 2-3 teachers have taken interest in me in grade school I wish I had teachers like those throughout my school years
I'm 32 now and all my life not only I've heard that I'm stupid, but I've started to believe it too. I was diagnose at age of 9 and in my country of origin being dyslexic was equal to being stupid. I'm also waiting for a proper assessment for ADD, as I have most of the signs here too. It's hard living this way, but as Albert Einstein once said: “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
I was told by a teacher who was in special Ed that I couldn't learn. I got told by kids that I was a slow learner, I said that I'm not slow, I even had a friend in college tell me that I was a slow learner I told her that I'm not a slow learner, I just need to do it as I learn. My self-esteem was bad on top of having adhd too. I also had a bad thyroid, and so it was a struggle for me, period. I hated school.
😅 same
Thank you for your videos!! I would love any videos on how to help.
Non dyslexics or people with mild dyslexia will never understand this. “Why am I forced to go to school and be humiliated every day”, exactly. Eventually I believed i deserved it and my purpose is to feel sad and lonely. Which is still lingering in my adulthood and I’ve self harmed and thought a lot about suicide because of it. I have a hatred for teachers. I just can’t help it I hate them. My experience is they don’t care about children, at all. They are narcissistic and like the idea of seeming to care about kids but they don’t actually care.
When he said "I want to see teachers" I thought he might say something like publicly lashed and humiliated or strung up by their toenails... but then when he said teach students to read I was thinking like OK, well I guess that would be good too.
Or they only care about the kids that don't have learning disabilities
😂 everything is temporary brother
Can totally relate this didn't know until I was 22 was bullied and was humiliated by a teacher when I was in 1st year juniors she took me into another class and announced this is not what I want you to do I had stuck some cut out text in the wrong order in a textbook. At 43 battling with addictions which I used for escapism am seeing a therapist now.
I know what he is talking about.
I remember in grade 9 I once wrote a whole essay with a LOT of interspersed backwards words and letters. I procrastinated on doing the essay till the last day and it took me hours. I finished late in the evening and gave it to my mom to proof. She asked me if I saw any mistakes and for the life of me it looked perfect. She said the only way she could read it was to hold it up to a mirror. I broke down and sobbed because I was too exhausted to write it again. I opted to turn it in as is, and asked the teacher if I might have some more time. My niece also mirror writes regularly. Strangly enough, I taught myself to read and became a very adept reader who tested high for reading comprehension. Reading is still difficult if I am tired and I will often speak backwards. It sometimes comes off sounding like old English. Lol
They just throw you in special ed and forget about you….. school system in the states are a joke… this man just explained my hole childhood
I feel this the no child left behind act singled me out as a high functioning dyslexic I was pulled out of class when I didn’t need the help it singled me out and I was bullied for it. Also it made me develop anxiety because of it meanwhile my grades reflected I was doing great on honor roll through all 12 grades.
I was done the same way in the United States. Now I'm struggling in life with homelessness off and on..
Me too, then fed us to the prison pipeline...
That's what happened to me as well.
Right
Mi hijo tiene dilexia
Dyslexia is not a disability, it is a gift.
@1:51 I've had that experience, from the last place on earth you would expect. Long story short, i was fed up with the college I was attending, so I took them to the Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission in Melbourne. My complaint was handled professionally by that organisation, except for one person. She was always passive-aggressive with me. In the end, I discovered that she was sceptical I had dyslexia, or that dyslexia even existed. She was so bad, I end up making a complaint about her too. So the moral of the story is, even in institutions where people are meant to respect and look out for your specific disability, people will still discriminate against dyslexics.
Dude explained my childhood
Mine too!!
Sam bro sam
Same here
One question. If the writing backwards thing is a myth, What would be the reason for my daughter writing numbers backwards. She doesnt get her letters backwards very often except for the occasional b and d, but her numbers are usually backwards despite me correcting her.
They explain it here, dyslexics can mix up the direction of letters (and numbers) but people think we write entirely backwards. We don’t, we just get the direction of some symbols jumbled.
Awesome! Love the encouragement as my journey is just beginning.
Im deslexic
Can you do a fact abubt siver dyslexia
This is so true, seen it lived it over and over.
Please provide more educational information on how to overcome dyslexia..much appreciated..vinaka.
I have a question is it possible for a person to develop dyslexia due to Post traumatic stress out? Like watching his/her parents get shot in front of him/her.
Your reply is very much appreciated. Thank you.
Hi, but your born with dyslexia hopefully this helps !
no, you are born with it.
Not true a brain injury can also cause dyslexia
Not PTSD, it’s been seen in brain injuries on occasion but not from trauma. It’s likely PTSD caused issues with focus and memory, focus can be associated with both dyslexia and ADHD but dyslexia isn’t just focus or memory.
Thank you for talking about this subject. As a parent with 2 dyslexic children and being a dyslexic myself I feel frustrated with the education system. Teachers care but they don't always understand.

Hi Denzel, dyslexia is something you are born with.
This was so good & so familiar a story about me & my clients. BUT IT WAS TOO SHORT! There is so much more to say!! Please, please, please Make another film about my similar story - see Flexi-School Dyslexia!
