hi 👋 I’m Qatari, and would like to add that bagpipes where present in qatar and the Persian gulf way before the British, most historians agree that it started in the Persian gulf area which is why Persians and Arabs have their own version of the bagpipe, although the British occupation definitely revived it’s popularity. Also this is a Jordanian dance in qatar, it’s similar to the Qatari one except we don’t dabke(dance popular in northern Arabia), we have our own version.

They certainly are, Scottish Highland pipes no less, I was able to see the pipes in the video and that sound is unmistakable. Although there are Middle Eastern and North African countries with bagpipes native to the area like the Zukra from Libya and the similar Mizwad from Tunisia, the countries that were once under British control sometimes took to the Highland pipes which the British brought. Qatar was one of the countries once under British control, so the presence of such bagpipes makes sense.

I miss my home Qatar, this is a Jordanian Dabka. Usually you see Dabka dance in north western Arab countries, like lebanon, Jordan and Palestine.
