@@georgia_s_3112 it’s definitely not the apartment style dorms in KB! the accommodation on the whole is smaller & not as modern as some other res options but i found it to be cosy. there were a lot of first year & international students so the vibe was very social compared to what people said about the more apartment style living options; especially if you were participating in res activities/using a caf meal plan. for me (and a lot of other international students), the main draw was its proximity to the beach. you could walk there in under 7 minutes, but you could also walk to the train station, supermarket, local bar, bus station, etc. it was very convenient without a car & most of us didn’t have a lot of stuff to fill a room anyway. i think it just depends what you are looking for! something to note though: i definitely lucked out and got one of the newer buildings, some room layouts were definitely smaller.

MRU is definitely a smaller university. I’m not entire sure what the nightlife scene looks like on either campus, because you’ll probably want to head downtown for most of it. UofC can be more of a “commuter school” where people just drive in for classes and then leave, I’m not sure if MRU would be the same? My best guess would probably say UofC for the atmosphere just because of it’s size, but exchanges are what you make of them!

The Cumming School of Medicine at UofC is one of only 17 (I believe ??) medical programs in Canada! I’m not personally enrolled, but I think it’s the only program that is completed in 3 years instead of 4. More information can be found on their website! :)

If you are asking about the environmental landscape around campus, there are green-spaces and a small pond within walking distance. Calgary has some nice parks but I believe most lakes are in private communities.

I believe universities usually look at your grade 12 marks, but it may vary by program or if there are grade 11 prerequisites that need to be filled. I think there are at least some degrees/programs where you select what courses you apply to uni with. But there is a contact page for 'Future Student' questions on the UofC website!

We have a week long ‘reading break’ in both November and February, and the Summer Break runs from approximately the end of April through till the end of August. There are also about 3 weeks of between the Fall and Winter semester, this may be more depending on when your fall final exams are scheduled. Exact semester dates can be found by searching for UCalgary’s Academic Schedule!
