Stuck Choke Tube - Franchi Affinity 3.5

The factory modified choke tube is rusted in this Franchi Affinity 3.5. I tried soaking it in PB Blaster overnight and using those cheap choke removal tubes. I bent those. I bought a Mayhew screw removal tool and that did the trick. #deer #shotgun #hunting #franchi

    Awesome deer man.... Got to love the old 30-06 with a 150gr...i been using 30-06 150gr for over 30+ years on big deer an big bears never let me down....

      @@davidlantz4560 mine isn’t the carbine. If I recall mine is mid to late 50s. It was my dad’s. I grew up a half hour from the Remington factory. It’s quite accurate and I actually like the feel of the stock better than the one on my Model 700.

      @@timquigley1630 ok. They were installed on a friend’s truck two days ago. We’re in the middle of the biggest snowstorm in central NY State we’ve had in a while. He said they are performing well in the snow. I’ll get a follow up video on them as soon as I can.

      @ yes. It originally came with passenger rated tires. They went on a half ton. I think the Summit tires come in an XL too in some sizes.

      @@ST0PM0SS good question. I’d use the Norma one to start a fire to cook with. By the time you have some coals whatever that shell holder is made of should be all gone.

    The soft point groups the best I’ve ever used in my tikka x3 light out of any ammo I’ve tried The whitetail is still good but not as accurate

      I get the same results out of my RAR. The Softpoint is made in Germany, and listed as a faster projectile than the Whitetail. The Soft Point (made in Germany) is by far the most accurate 150 grain round I’ve used in my RAR. Though the Swedish Whitetail is not a bad projectile by any means.

    My Ruger American loves these cartridges, fantastic groupings. Sadly, Norma has discontinued this particular projectile, going to polymer tipped sort. [Good thing I bought as many boxes as I could when they were on the shelves.

    Norma softpoint is not bonded,not oryx. Whitetail is the same as norma alaska. Greetings from sweden. Norma country😃

    The soft point is not a bonded bullet. The factory guy is wrong. The oryx and bondstrike are there bonded projectiles. The tipstrike is a tipped soft point.

      @truckstoolsandtheoutdoors8258 yea I do . There ok for smaller deer ect. Def better options if u want an actual bonded bullet. I suggest u try federal terminal accent or if ur hunting closer range the federal fusion works great and cheaper. if u want factory loadings that's what I prefer.

      @@REDNECKROOTS I bought some Terminal Ascent a couple years ago. During the ammo shortage that hit my area. It showed up at Bass Pro so I bought it as I had a cow elk hunt coming up. Didn’t get an elk but used it during deer season and I shot one doe. 55 yard shot broadside. Not much of an ammo test. Deer took one step. I have fusion on hand too. I have one of my 30-06 sighted in with that. I enjoy shooting all types of ammo.

    I use Norma whitetail in my cva cascade 308. Amazing accuracy on paper and huge damage on the whitetails I’ve shot.

      I have tested some federal ammo and Norma and found Norma whitetail works best in my CVA .308 as well. Have you found anything else it liked? Have you tested other Norma rounds?

      @truckstoolsandtheoutdoors8258 I was greatly surprised. The soft point was grouping at .400" at 95yrds. Went back to that same store to purchase more after I realized how much my rifle like that Norma ammunition and they didn't have one box. I'm still shopping for more now.

    I emailed Norma and got this response about the medium game load. "Thank you for reaching out to us with your inquiry. Simply put, it is the same cartridge as the Norma Whitetail. The only difference is that one was produced in one of our multiple European facilities and packaged differently. I can confirm that it does not have the Oryx projectile loaded in it. It is the Norma Soft Point projectile." It does group well in my rifle . I will see how it performs during the upcoming hunting season.

    The Norma Increased Velocity 150 grain .308 is absolutely amazing !!! My POF Revolution, POF P308 and LWRC REPR Elite shoot .5" groups consistently !!! I've tried every 150 grain .308 out there and none are as accurate or consistent as this Norma bullet !!!

    Sub moa out of both my 308win mod70s. Shot into water jugs @ close range, perfect mushroom. Bullet weighed 122 grains/ 83% weight retention. Appears to me to be a bonded bullet. Just for comparison the 150gr Winchester Silver Ballistic Tip totally fragmented & only part of the jacket was left.

    This ammo shoots real well out of my tikka t3x, shot a buck at about 40 yards threw the neck and it worked great, I'm excited to see how it works on a little further distances

    I've been shooting paper with both and haven't noticed a difference in accuracy out to 300 yards. They're both better than I am. I've also shot some PPU SP in 150 gr and it made no difference for me. Most deer harvested in South Texas are at less than 100 yards, so I think they'll all be fine. A case of 200 Whitetail or SP runs around $225 + shipping. Same pricing for the 6.5 Creedmoor 140 gr. At those prices, I can afford to practice.

      Good to hear. I hope to shoot both of these this Saturday. Most deer I’ve harvested were well under 100 yards. I think I’ve harvested two over 100 yards. As for the price, you can’t go wrong. I watch ammo prices close and the price you mentioned is great. Ammo is still going up where I live and I just noticed Core Lokt is almost 28 bucks a box at Wal Mart. Where do you order from?     I found the soft point ammo for sale last summer in the UP of Mi. at a cheap price, just not as cheap as you did. Was the least expensive ammo then available. Used it in my 1969 308 Savage 99e for deer season. It shot as well as anything in that gun. Didn't get a shot with it though. Don't always use the same gun as the weather and fancy strikes me. Did shoot a buck with my 38-55 Win.

      Nice to know it shot well compared to other ammo. Man, I love the Savage 99. I was given my great uncles about five years ago. It’s chambered in 300 Savage. Talk about expensive ammo.. I have to double check but I think it was made in 1947. I know it’s made in Utica, NY. I’ll have to do a video on it. I’ve never seen anything that shoots a 38-55. Gotta be great shooting a buck with a vintage firearm. It’s a goal of mine to take a deer with my 99. Thanks for watching.

    I have the same ammo, I held the soft point 150 grain up next to the 180 grain oryx, the soft point overall length is longer than the oryx. I was told the bond strike is really good on elk.

    Norma made Weatherby ammo for many years and makes great ammo but that being said you still have to check to see what bullet is being used in the ammo you are hunting with! That is the reason my dad went to reloading Nosler bullets back in the yearly 50’s in his pre64 rifle!

      Can’t go wrong with Nosler. I’ve got some Federal Premium loaded with Nosler Partions I’m going to review at some point. Shot great out of my Remington 740 .308. Wish I had a pre 64 Model 70!

    Interesting comparison. One question: is the whitetail box also giving an adress like the SP which is produced at the RWS plant in Fürth (Germany). Maybe the SP has also the brass from RWS which is known to be of very good quality. Thanks.

      Normal ammunition and bullets aren't made by RWS. There is even video on TH-cam of touring the Norma plant which you can see both of these bullets being made at the Norma plant.

      @@lurebenson7722 Look at the other video. Norma, RWS and Geco ammunition belong to the same company. Beretta. And earlier it was RUAG Ammotec. The Norma SP150 were made at Fürth by RWS. Its written on the box. Maybe the bullet was made in Sweden and the cartridge in Fürth.

      I’d say the only difference is the bullet itself. I figured these would be the same bullet as the whitetail but I was told on the phone it’s the “Oryx”bullet which is a bonded bullet and via email I was told it’s a bonded bullet but they didn’t specifically say the “Oryx”. I can’t wait to shoot them. My access to the range is limited due to weather but I’ll do a follow up as to how they shoot. Curious what price they are for you.

      @@truckstoolsandtheoutdoors8258 In Luxemburg they are on sale currently for 29,-€ per box. In germany - you won‘t believe it - you cannot buy them. They are not available on the german market although they are manufactured there. I believe they could be replaced by the whitetail line. RUAG, who is mentionend on these boxes, is no more the owner of RWS, Norma an Geco. Now it‘s Beretta. Looking forward to your follow up video. Best regards.

If the guys from Norma told you, they were bonded bullets, they must be mistaken. We could pull out the lead core easily. Nevertheless, beautiful mushrooms.
