I’ve only ever met one other person besides myself who is allergic to poultry and that is my younger brother’s friend Max. The looks people give me and the disbelief or downright refusing to believe me when I tell them I’m allergic to poultry is astonishing. My friends parents in particular would be incredibly rude or insulted when I told them that I couldn’t eat the dinner they cooked. I remember one instance (back in the early to mid 90’s) when my friend’s mother made me eat the chicken dinner she spent half the day cooking and let’s just say when she was rushing me to the ER because I broke out in hives all over my body and was having trouble breathing did it finally occur to her that maybe I wasn’t lying about having an allergy 🤔
