My parents owned one. I loved (and still love) this car. The push button transmission was so futuristic and worked well with the slant six. I was so upset when my dad sold the car because my mom wanted a new car and our car had been vandalized so there was damage to the body. One day I hope to own one.
Your friend didn't want to sell it but you have other irons in the fire so it is what it is,..? Explain please? PS. Did you tell your wife that the windows wind down?
I had a 1962 Dodge Lancer 170 4dr sedan, 3 on the tree with the 170cu in engine one of the best cars that I owned. Sold the car, ordered a new 1970 Dodge Dart Custom loaded 4dr sedan, what a piece of junk the only two items that were trouble free was the radio and transmission. In my opinion compared to the Ford Falcon and Chevy Corvair the Dodge Lancer was years ahead in style, handling and features. It was one of 4 cars that I really liked, 1962 Dodge Lancer, 1962 Chrysler Newport, 1984 Ford Crown Vic, 2006 Scion xb. All cars after 1969 were special ordered except for the Scion xb it was sitting on the lot and after a test drive bought the car. 😎
My first car was a '61 Lancer 170 2-door. This car transported three family members up and down the east coast from Canada to FL for over 10-years 'til she was put out to pasture.
The ugliest car ever made in the USA. Still, this is the best looking one I have seen. Nice Job. WAIT! HOLD THE PRESSES. Hood just opened and all has changed. What a beautiful can I would love to have it.🦇
Truly the Chrysler designers and the people in charge that gave the go ahead to this design should have been fired ! The car looks to be in very good condition , but good Lord there has to be something better then the transmission shifter you installed, also a little lube on the door hinges wouldn't hurt . I don't mean to criticize your work , it takes a ton of hard work and a lot of money to get an old and unusual car like this to look this good ! Good luck
It is begging for a set of 15x8 Cragar SS or American Racing Torque Thrust grey spokes and either white letter or black wall 70 series tires. Glasspacks are perfect for a classic like this. I'm prejudiced as I have a 64 Galaxie fastback, white with black interior and a 401FE, C6, 3.89 posi.
Attractively restored.
Very Beautiful Vehicle, I liked The 👍 Trim Just Enough

I always liked the shape of these, especially the original 60 Valiant. Most people think these cars are very weird and ugly. It is a different design.
61 and 62 Lancers were available with factory installed air conditioning.

A car so ugly, it’s actually…no…it’s just ugly.
A set of nice rims would help a lot...

My first car was a 1962 Red Plymouth Valiant. What a great car. Beautiful Restoration!

The only thing wrong with that Lancer are those ugly hubcaps.
almost a twin of my mom’s 1960 Valiant… drove forever with the small slant six with the push button auto
Nice!
I thought it was called a Dart by then. What a junk but the 318 cid was the moat reluable engine ever made
Dodge's compact was Lancer in 61 and 62, Dart from 63 on.
@danielulz1640 Thanks for the clarification.Put in your vote for Mr.Trump tomorrow...
@@it1988ayou're welcome. I have already voted and it was DEFINITELY NOT for trump!
@@danielulz1640 Camel Toe has so many accomplishments...NAME ONE.
This is by far one of the ugliest cars ever to hit the street.
This is not! Why didn't you chop the top too?
Very cool. What a neat little car. Its so weird. I also had a friend once that had a 61. You did a very nice job on it. Thanks for the video.
Beautiful restoration,and it sounds awesome.👍👍
Never saw one of these without grille damage. Handsome car and a great driver.
Meravigliosa macchina Americana, di quei tempi.
Hubcaps won’t rust if you keep them waxed with a good wax
Just dump them, they are ugly crap anyway.

My dad had one of these when I was a kid. It was green and we called it the lizard ! 😂
A beautiful example of very ugly Exner design.
A treat to see one in this shape. Great job!
Man that is a beautiful car! you guys did a great job on it. very unique...
Dodge model is a Lancer, Plymouth is a Valiant ✌️
Not a Barracuda, might have been a Lancer GT two door hardtop.
Sweet !!!!
You said it had 427 hubcaps, but you didn’t say anything about the motor itself except that it had been rebuilt
I'm sorry. It's a 66 390 hi-po
Any '59 owners who need a new master cylinder be advised your correct part number is Raybestos MC23222, NOT MC18000. I know from personal experience.
The body looks very similar to a 2 door '57 and '58 base model Mercury Monterey like the one used in the 1950's tv show Highway Patrol.
and My Parents had one when I was A Toddler I remember the panoramic view got from standing In the front seat while going down the highway
Have a 1987 4+4 gold love it runs great 😊
Do you know why some of these trucks came with 4x4 locks in the front axle and some don't?
How much are you asking for it?
Wish it was mine would you consider giving it to me please let me know
Nice car, I like the factory look all day long. I run steel wheels no caps on mine.
What is the price please?
Just the way I remember it from childhood. That same fire engine red!
Wish it was the XL.
Absolutely gorgeous. Stunning red paint and interior. Just a beautiful classic ! Thanks for sharing !

I love your wheel and tire combos but those 427 caps were almost impossible to get lol.
Found em for 450.00 NEW OLD STOCK From a guy who held on to old surplus ford parts
It's amazing how expensive that missing piece of hood trim is. Nice ride.
not missing, just powder coat . Bad for pictures
COOL CAR
Beautiful car!
Ain't she sweet! Once in a while you come across a good one, and this is a great one! Nice find, keep her clean!
Love it
Very nice !.John M Guinto
