This explains why Vault Tec went through with all of those horrific experimental vaults. Why would Vault Tec conduct those experiments, if there was nobody to collect and analyze the data? Turns out Vault Tec is alive and well in Vault 31. Maybe the various Overseers were getting the results of the experiments. In order to use that knowledge to rebuild civilization as they saw fit.

honestly hated this scene. To people not familiar with fallout lore, this plays like a mid level gut punch twist, revealing his wife, who frankly we didnt get to see enough of during the season was actually a far more sadistic and twisted individual than we ever imagined. But also a massive hypocrite. But to anyone who knows Fallout lore, this is just insane. Vault Tec originally NEVER contracted the vaults with other companies on this goal. No. Innthe games, the Vaults were never intended to restart civilization, they were always just an experiment so that the Enclave could take the data and then use that to build THEIR civilization better. Fallout 2 literally starts with the enclave wiping out a vault and taking their resources and research data. Fallout 3 has them attempting to do the same in vault 101. The goal was always to improve the enclave. The Vaults were NEVER the final goal. Always a means to an end. Also, with these parameters and goal, so many of the vaults dont make sense. One of the execs literally throws the pitch for vault 75, which ONLY works if you take the established lore of using the data to further Enclave research. But in the context of the show, vault 75 makes 0 sense whatsoever. Neither does 114, 95, 111, 101, 19, 34, 68, so on and so fourth. All the failed vaults where it was obvious that the goal was purely for the data and the Enclave was suppose to retain the data and dispose of survivors. Also, Vault 4 literally made New Vegas non canon by having sandy shores be destroyed in 2277. Also the whole collapse of the NCR in response and having whats her name become the head of the NCR which we literally dont learn until 20 minutes before she dies. Its clear that whoever wrote this series didnt actually play the games, they just read a bunch of forums written by people who did

Folks who think this is stupid that these corporations would wipe out mankind should read 1984. It's all about absolute power and at this point in the Fallout Universe they were ready to take complete control (multiple resource wars, peace talks were almost complete), they had to do "something".

Although the theory that vault-tec was responsible is a fan-favorite, i dont think thats the case, many times in the lore is hinted that the chinese were probrably the first ones to fire the shot as a result of the US military getting too trigger-happy with the invasion of the chinese mainland(which happened after the liberation of anchorage), and also there were much "unfinished buisiness" on vault tec and the US part.

Waant that the purpose of Vault 0 if any yall remember the lore? Or am i confusing that up?
