studio vlog - drawing hands and building an exhibition
thomas_janssens www.thomas-janssens.com In this video I show the fifth and last drawing of the series I started last video. The drawings and custom frames finally come together and become part of an art exhibition. Aside from this I make a new drawing for a letter project I'm doing with a friend of mine. During the process of this video I also talk about my secret to drawing hand...
studio vlog • five drawings with custom frames for an exhibition
thomas_janssens www.thomas-janssens.com In this video I share the process of my most recent project. For an upcoming group show I created a series of 5 new drawings with 5 custom frames. The combination of woodworking and drawing is a very prominent aspect of my artistic practice. Therefore the frames of a work can be just as significant as the drawing they incapsulate. Thank you...

super mooi werk en leuke video!! grtjs wout!
Merci Wout!
Ik ben heel blij met mijn sticker 🙂
Hi there. Thanks for the video. Always cool to see other artists processes. Besides from commissions, how do you make income to support yourself? if you don’t mind me asking lol I’m going to be a full time artist by next year so I am just wondering thanks
Hi, good question! Besides my freelance work I also work parttime as a teacher in private art education for adults. That gives me enough financial stability to spend time on my own work.
Interesting brainproces! You gave a great insight on working with a bigger scale :-) I will take take this information with me Cap
Thanks broeder! 🫶🏻
Dear Thomas thank you for sharing. I have a question. Since you are planning to show the thought process of your new commissioned work on your channel, I am really curious if you inform your client about showing the process and end result of your illustration on youtube or not. Thats a problem here in Turkey. Or do you have it written on a contract with your client? Maybe my question deserves its own video :) thanks again.
Very good question! Up untill this point I have not really talked to my clients about these ‘process videos’. It is always made clear that I can post commisioned work on instagram and my website (as I still own all the images myself). The only thing that could be a problem in the future is that I show some drawings before they’re published by the client. For the most part my audience here on youtube doesn’t really overlap with that of my clients, but it is probably better for me to put some terms on paper with clients. Thanks for mentioning it!
so cool
Thank you :^))
Great video Thomas! Might be good to increase the contrast/lower the whites/increase the blacks when showing a drawing like you did around 5:25! The pencil lines should pop out a little more that way I think!
Thanks man! Yeah, I have to play around with that a little more. I'm also using a new camera for this video so I'm still tinkering with the settings :^). Thanks for the feedback!
crazy.
😎😎
like how the colors make the art pop!
Thank you! Using color is still kind off new to my practice, so thats motivating to hear :^)
i know that it is over 3 weeks after realising the video, but i have small feedback about the colors of the illustration and particulary about colors of the legs of the boy and teacher. they have like green leg and it's actually looks like the childs leg seem to be like teachers le,g although the teachers legs are bending, but because of the same color use, one leg looks like it is on the ground :)
Aha yes I now see what you mean! The green of the teachers lower body and green leg of the child seem to be connected. Thanks for the feedback! Sometimes you need a fresh pair of eyes to spot these things :^)
@@thomas_janssens True:) I have the same problem sometimes:)
wow your sense of value is amazing! thanks for sharing your thinking process 🌙
Such kind words, thank you so much!
very cool
Thanks a lot!!
I love how sketchy your sketchbook is! It's so much more realistic and I just like how they look more than those 'perfect' sketchbook tours! Your art is so great! Definitely gave me a boost of inspiration! New subsciber! Love your content so far

Who knows, who knows 👀👀
Hi Kratz!
Hello Kratz ;-)
ik ben fan.
Dankuzeer meneer!
Dag Kratzke. Lijkt me een leuke hond.
Mercikess 😊😊
Hi Kratzje
It was really cool to see the drawings and frames come together!! I'm looking forward to seeing the next video :^)
Thank you so much! A new video actually just dropped :^) ✌️
Very creative. Its nice to the whole process. Love the frames ;)
Thank you very much! Appreciate it :^)
Wauw, interessant proces!
Beautiful video fam worth subbing , but usually what type of wood do you use for the frames ? Also where in Belgium do u live ?
Thank you for your kind words! Usually I use elliottis pine, mostly because of it’s affordable price, but also because I very much like it’s grain patterns. And I live in Ghent :^)
Knap!
Love the combination of the figures with the landscapes! Very interesting way of putting that on paper. Keep it up!
Thank you! Glad you like it :^)
10/10. Would recommend.
Thank you kind sir :^)
